Gundam Wing Infinite Dance version one

Gandamu Uingu Mugen no Dansu ichiban

Part Twenty-eight;
*Please no*

         Paato Chuenchieitto;
         *Iya desu*

Yesterday, I had a sad dream for some reason
   A lonely morning without you
I was so scared I cried while repeatedly calling your name
Like a child, with my entire body
Kinou kanashii yume wo mita yo nazeka
            anata ga inai kodokuna asa
            kowakute namae yobitsuzukete naita
            Kodomo mitaini karadajyuu de

Things that hold no meaning alone
   Go on overflowing
I'm sorry that I'm so incoherent
All I wanted to say is... I love you...
        Hitori jya imi wo motanai
            mono ga afurete yuku
            toritomenakute gomen ne
            iitai koto wa tada... aishiteru...

Embraced by the blue planet
Time goes on passing by in a flicker
Although we are destined to go on fading
I want to be shining until the very end
   Embraced by the blue planet
   People repeat 'encounters' and 'partings'
I want to believe that it's wonderful to be alive
Without giving up at any moment
        Aoi hoshi ni idakarete
toki ga sugite yuku yo matataite
            itsuka kiete yuku unmei demo
            kagayaite itai yo saigo made
            Aoi hoshi ni idakarete
            hito wa 'deai' 'wakare' kurikaesu
            don'na shunkan mo akiramezuni
            ikiru koto wo sutekito shinjitai

Even now the news are filled with painful topics
No one really able to change immediately
Nyuusu wa ima mo tsurai wadai bakari
            daremo sugu niwa kawarenakute

If we could touch more
   Overcoming our histories and values
Everyone can come to share affection
More than hating each other... from the heart...
        Rekishi ya kachikan koete
            motto fureaetara
            daremoga nikushimiau yori
            yasashisa wakeaeru... kokoro kara...

Quatre was dreaming...

He was dreaming. No, it was a nightmare. He saw the people of the colony turn against his family under the persuasion and manipulation of Oz. He saw himself chase his father to the resource meteorite with his sister. He heard his father apologize. He watched his father die.

“ IIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! “

It echoed in his ears. His own scream as the meteorite exploded.

But it didn't really happen. It was just a dream. Quatre curled himself into a little ball and tried to stop the sobs from wracking his body. He wanted someone there, but Iria was unconscious... sleeping... He squeezed his eyes shut and curled himself tighter. His forehead pressed against the cool deck of the space ship.

It was all just a dream.

“ Yume... dake... “ he whispered, and giggled at his own foolishness.

Just a dream.

                          [##]

Wufei stiffened as footfalls sounded behind him.

“ Hey you, “ the voice of a student he didn't know rang out, “ you're a Gundam Pilot, aren't you? “

                          [##]

Zechs stood at the opening to Epyon's cockpit, much as he had not too long ago when Treize had first given him the machine. The wind blew his platinum blonde hair to the side, and across his view of the pristine ocean horizon. He could hear Howard tinkering around with last minute adjustments behind him.

“ Howard... “ he said softly.

“ Yeah? “

“ Have you ever had the feeling that something just wasn't right with the world? “

Howard stood from the pilot seat and wiped his hands off on his shorts. Standing next to Zechs, he followed the other man's gaze out towards the horizon and answered, “ Yup, every day. “ He left the cockpit onto the walkway and turned towards Zechs. “ Try not to let it get to you. I'll see you in space, soon as the Peacemillion is completed. “

Zechs paused before putting the helmet on. “ Thank you, Howard. “

“ Not a problem. Good luck, Zechs. “

Zechs sat carefully in the cockpit seat and closed the door. His fingers danced over the controls, starting up the machine, reading the Space Boosters, checking power levels, fuel levels. Reaching up he closed the visor on the helmet and immediately the computer started up. His hands slowly sank to the joystick and the thrust. The prelude had ended, now for the chorus.

Epyon lifted into the air, causing turbulence in its wake. It shot across the water, the spray sparkling on its metal skin. Some distance out, away from Howard's ship, it paused, crouching, getting ready. It hovered, paused in time as the engines switched over and the chorus began.

With a powerful blast that split the water below, the Space Boosters fired and Epyon shot straight up into the sky: into space.

                          [##]

Wufei turned, and found he couldn't see the student clearly for the shadows. “ What's it to you? “ he asked levelly. He was more than ready for a fight.

                          [##]

“ People of the Romafellor Foundation, I stand here as your proclaimed Queen of the World, “ she began her words clearly, the people before her and the reporters waiting in the wings not fazing her one bit. She'd lived her whole life in the spotlight, why should it now bother her?

“ ... But it is my feeling that in this position it is my duty to stand not only as your Representative, but as your Critic as well. “ She heard the murmurings and stood straighter. Her cool eyes gazed directly across
the room. “ The Earth Sphere Alliance held a military power, shrouded in politics, for as long as I can remember. Can anyone here tell me what is so different about Oz's control? “ Before anyone could call out an answer she continued, “ There isn't any. One military power has merely been replaced by another. “ She smiled as the murmurings became indignant. Dipping her head she looked back up and admitted ruefully, “ But to most people, that is the only thing that they think can be done.

“ What is Oz and the Romafellor Foundation doing to promote peace? You are fighting off protestors, remnants of the Alliance, and rebellions. You are winning trust politically when you can, and forcing it into your power when >you cannot. This is not peaceful. It is not promoting peace. It can be asked then, and is being asked... “ she paused, taking a breath before the controversial statement, “ Does the Romafellor Foundation truly want peace? “

Raising her hands from where they were beside her, she placed them on either side of the podium and resumed her speech. “ So here is what I propose: In order to prove to the people that we are aiming for peace, and in order to achieve that peace... there must be a complete disarmament of Oz and the entire Earth Sphere. “

Again, the murmurings. She'd caused a stir. A smile came unexpectedly to her face; she was just like him at that moment. Just like she wanted to be.

                          [##]

“ Che-“ the student spat to the side and emerged from the shadows. “ Far be it for me to challenge the almighty Gundam Pilot Wufei. So tell me, “ he came to stand next to Wufei, “ is yours the one that got destroyed? “

Destroyed?! “ Feh, of course not. “ He turned away and continued on his path.

                          [##]

Treize sat back in his chair, after having listened to Rilina's-- pardon-- Rilinajo'ousama's speech, he was contemplative. It was an idea just naive enough to be taken up by the Romafellor Foundation's members. They were all disillusioned by war anyway.

He turned the computer off and left the room. He was rested, it was time to work on Talgeese again.

                          [##]

“ Matte kudasai, “ the student's voice commanded, followed sharply by the clacking sound of a gun being cocked.

That sound... he'd grown to hate it all the more in the past few days.

                          [##]

Hiiro crouched at the corner and examined his options. He could go left, down a plush corridor to what looked like a commons area. He could go straight, down a plain corridor that promised of offices and computers. He could go right, down a corridor that almost immediately became a catwalk. Or he could go back, and give up for today.

Hiiro went right.

At the edge of the catwalk, he flattened himself against the wall. Listening, he could clearly make out a loud female voice, introducing what sounded like-- new M.S.?

“ Here, Trowa Barton, is what I was telling you about-“

Trowa Barton?!

“ -- We captured the scientists who created the Gundams and had them make new suits for us. These are the Mercurious and the Vai-eight. They are, in essence, improvements on the Gundams, and they are for us. Private Hilde has chosen the Vai-eight, which leaves the Mercurious for you. “

Hiiro peeked around the corner, and found himself looking down on a Mobile Suit assembling area. One suit stood finished, painted a deep red with six disks latched on to its shoulders. It had a body roughly modeled after a Leo, with a deep set faceplate set in an undersized head. The armor looked thick, but it was well equipped for speed in Outer Space. If it was supposed to be an improvement on the Gundams, it wasn't much of one from the looks of things.

Turning his attention to the other, yet unfinished suit, Hiiro began to formulate a plan. The second suit had only the upper half built, complete with a high caliber space rifle held in two dexterous hands. Looked like that half a suit had enough power to take out the other full suit, if caught off guard. He could do it.

Placing one hand firmly on the railing, Hiiro lifted himself over, and dropped soundlessly to the shoulder of the unfinished blue suit. His entrance went unnoticed by almost everybody. Quietly slipping down the front, he entered the open cockpit, fell into the pilot's seat, and activated the suit.

                          [##]

Wufei turned and scowled at his would-be assailant. “ If you're going to kill me, then do it honorably. I hate those things. “

The 'student' smirked and fired. Wufei leaped easily over the bullet and aimed his descent at his attacker. Before his kick could connect, however, he dropped the gun and caught Wufei by the ankle. Wufei's attacker turned swiftly and threw Wufei into the wall.

The fight had begun.

                          [##]

Duo lazily layed on the bunk and tried to think of a plan. It wasn't going too well. It was all well and nice to be determined to fulfill San'nin's wishes, but how to go about it was a little more difficult. That, and he really hated being alone, to tell the truth.

It's so Alright! Maybe too right! “ He sang loudly, abrasively, maybe someone would come tell him to shut up.

                          [##]

Trowa watched Lady Une spin around and demand, “ Who started up the Mercurious?! “

But answers wouldn't stop the machine from lifting its head and aiming the rifle across the room. Trowa found himself amidst chaos, as Lady Une barked orders and Hilde ran for the Vai-eight. He didn't have to panic, didn't have to worry. He knew exactly who was in the Mercurious, and what he was planning on doing. But he knew the specs of the Mercurious and Hiiro didn't. It wouldn't do if they died at their own hands before completing their missions.

“ Release the locking clamps. “ His solitary order rang out loud and clear.

Lady Une turned on him and demanded, “ What?! “

“ Release the locking clamps and let the Mercurious fall to the floor. It's top heavy without legs to support it. The pilot will lose his equilibrium, no matter how good he may be. That will buy Hilde enough time to retaliate with the Vai-eight. “

“ Do it! “ Une shouted, supporting him.

The sound of the clamps unlocking echoed across the room, followed immediately by a crash as the Mercurious hit the floor and wobbled, just as Trowa had predicted. Meanwhile, the Vai-eight had started up, and the disks from its back shot across the room to surround the Mercurious. Trowa watched with interest, as the disks created a field and shocked the Mercurious, rendering the unfinished suit garbled and the pilot's motions silenced.

There was a pause, then the cockpit opened. The renegade pilot dropped to the ground, but Trowa was one step ahead of him. Placing the cold barrel of the pistol against Hiiro's temple, Trowa advised, “ Don't move. “

The responding glare was colder than space could ever hope to be.

                          [##]

Wufei snapped back to his feet. No Oz spy was going to get away with attacking him. He ran at his attacker, dropping to the ground just before and simultaneously kicking the gun into the garden, while sweeping the feet out from underneath his opponent. As he got up, Wufei's fist snapped out and punched him in the face. A barrage of hits followed soon after from either party; exchanged, taken, missed, and dodged.

“ You can't win, you know... “ the spy grunted between blows, “ five of you against all of Oz. We even have the Colonies backing us. What are you fighting for?! Nothing! Some naive belief that the world can be at peace without war? It's just as Tsubarov says... you're nothing but children. “

“ Even if I lived a dozen lives, my opinion of Oz and its false peace would not change, “ Wufei responded steadily, his eyes firm with his convictions.

“ Heh, foolish boy! “

Wufei spun and roundhouse kicked, missing, but driving his opponent back nonetheless. “ Then the question should be turned back upon you. “ He leapt forward, his hands piercing the air, searching for their target. “ What are you fighting for? “

“ It's simple, isn't it? “ He paused and smiled knowingly at the young Gundam pilot, “ I fight because I am a soldier. All I am good for is fighting and killing. That is what I do, and all that I know. I, “ he paused, “ am just. like. you. “

Wufei looked startled.

Go, or I'll kill you myself. Sacrifices must be made in the path to peace

Just like him. Just like her. Just like everyone. They were all soldiers: they lived only to fight and kill... in search of an unattainable peace. It was all they were good for. They were the sacrifices she spoke of. The only way to peace was if all the soldiers were gone. If all the soldiers; if people like him and Treize were gone, then what did reason did people have to fight?

Embraced by the blue planet
I want to find what is important
The reasons for the creaking heart
   Everyone has actually? Already noticed?
   Embraced by the blue planet
People want to return to a peace of mind
   Without faking strengths and weaknesses
I want to confide and honestly laugh
         Aoi hoshi wo dakishimete
            naniga taisetsuka wo mitsuketai
mune ga kishimu yoru fueru wake ni
            kizuiteru? daremoga hontou wa?
            Aoi hoshi wo dakishimete
hito wa yasuragi e to kaeritai
            tsuyosa mo yowasa mo itsuwarazuni
            uchiakete sunao ni waraitai

This age that flows with contradictions as the standard, sometimes makes me become confused about myself
Changing my point of view from one angle to another, I want to go on holding onto the hidden essential qualities
The difference between egoistic and individuality, I don't want to live without understanding or caring about it
With half anticipation and half anxiety, I take the realistic first step out from here...
mujyun wo kijyun ni nagareru jidai ni tokidoki jibun ga wakaranaku naru
iron'na kakudo ni shiten wo utsushite kakureta honshitsu tsukandeitai
egoistikku to kosei no chigai wo wakarazu kamawazu ikitakuwanai
kitai mo fuan mo fifutii fifutii riaru na ippo wo kokokara fumidasu...

[gah, that last stanza was difficult to type. I'm tired. It's 12:30 am and I have to work tomorrow. eep! Anyway, this chapter took a lot of brain power. Between the technical aspects of Zechs' Hiiro's and Trowa's scenes, as well as Rilina's wonderful little speech, and Wufei's little monologue... yeah, my head hurts. I had to pull out my GW Encyclopedia to try and find a descent spelling of Vai-eight.  Useful thing that book. Back on the story tho, uh-oh... Wufei's thinking about assassinating Treize again... wherever will that take him to? Now both Hiiro and Duo are prisoners of Oz. Will Hiiro comply with Duo's wishes and tell him to shut up? Will Rilina's speech go over well? Will Quatre destroy everything? Find out in... good gods, are we up to 29 already? O.o See you then]
