** Translation Notes **

In lieu of how long MnD is getting and how complicated, it's unrealistic for me to expect everyone to be able to follow the increasing amount of Japanese being used in the text. Instead of taking away from the story by adding notes in every chapter at every usage, I have created this file. Each chapter has a link to a target on this page that corresponds with that particular chapter. This way, the reader can find exactly what they need right away.

Chapter One

daisuki - I really like you, often translated as 'I love you,' the translation depends on the context. With Kathrine, it is usually the former.
ohayou - Good morning

Chapter Two

shinigami - God of Death, the nickname given to Gundam Deathscythe and himself by Duo.

omae o korosu - I'll kill you (litterally 'you die') Commonly refered to as Hiiro's 'death glare'

Chapter Three

matte - wait. (imperative form, she's commanding him to wait)

okaasan - mother (formal)

shine - (pronounced shee-nay) die.

Chapter Five

"Atsukamashii Unmei no naka ni Yume"
In the title this is translated as 'Even if you have a brazen destiny, you still have a dream' but more literally it comes to 'The Brazen Destiny within Dreams' However, 'atsukamashii' is an unusual word in the Japanese language. (or so I've been told) Taken from context, the former translation holds true.

neechan - technically it means 'elder sister' but it can also be used to refur to a young girl, which how Duo is using it.

moshi moshi - 'hello' used when answering the telephone

ee, sou desu - yes, that's right
nan - what, shortened form of nani
omae o korosu - I'll kill you

*the name of the school Hiiro finds himself in 'Ozume' translates to 'final phase' or 'conclusion' I chose it because (a) it sounded like Oz, and (b) this concluded the part of the story that basically led into everything, and began the 'final phase' as it were. From here on in, the story starts working towards an end, as opposed to setting up characters and getting them to places they need to be.

uso - lie, or 'it's a lie!' commonly translated as something like 'no way!' or 'it's not true!'
Saa - something like 'aah', there is no real translation for this. It can be translated as 'so' or any number of things, all depending on the context in which it's used
Kimi wa - Who are you? Literally 'you are?', this is a very familiar way to address her; Hiiro is slowly slipping into this world and this acts as proof.

Maa - something like 'well...'
Ja mata ne - later then! An informal way of saying good-bye
Iie - no

*'gandamu' is just vocalizing the katakana used to spell 'Gundam'
