Hooker's wife Fran is shot during a
factory-district robbery. Meanwhile, Hooker
assigns Stacy to field conditioning, teaming her
with no-nonsense training officer Jim Corrigan.

At roll call, Stacy is assigned a partner, Jim Corrigan,
to begin her week of "ride-alongs." Hooker alerts all
officers to a rash of robberies that have occurred at
local mini-markets on factory pay days. After a few
hours, another market is hit and Romano and Hooker
pursue the assailants, while Stacy and Corrigan enter
the store and discover Fran, Hooker's wife, on the
ground, unconscious from a head wound. At the
hospital they learn that Fran is stable, but may lose her
eye sight. Fran is able to give Hooker some clues,
believing that one of the bystanders was killed because
the robber recognized him. They visit the victim's home
and his son is able to identify the man from a police
sketch as a friend of his father's. Having distributed
bulletins to all pawn shops with a photo of Fran's
wedding ring taken at the robbery, the police are called
when Doyle tries to pawn the ring. With clues from the
pawn shop owner, Hooker is able to track Doyle and
apprehends him with Fran's ring still on him. Doyle tells
Hooker that Hendricks, his associate, is planning
another hit, and with his help they arrive at the
mini-market just in time to catch Hendricks. Hooker
hurries back to the hospital to tell Fran about her ring,
and receives the good news that her vision will be
restored.
