Sgt. Hooker and Officer Romano respond to a call and find
a young housewife brutally beaten inside her car, with a
Bible left on the seat. Hooker and Romano know it's the
same guy who's been beating women, giving them a
sermon and taking an "offering" in cash from them,
always leaving a Bible behind. The next day, Hooker and
Romano discover that two more women have been
battered by the Bible mugger. Meanwhile, Tracy Hill, an
agressive newscaster, is publicly criticizing the police
and has a psychologist analyze the Bible mugger on her
news program. Intrigued, Arlen Williams (the Bible
mugger) contacts her and wants to talk. Excited at such
a scoop, Tracy ignores Hooker's warning not to get
involved and she winds up being abducted by Williams.
Luckily for Tracy, Hooker and Romano discover Williams'
living quarters on the grounds of a convent where he has
taken her. However, when they arrive, Williams manages
to escape with Tracy and three nuns as hostages. Finally,
after a terrifying pursuit by Hooker and Romano, Williams
is captured and Tracy and the hostages are released
unharmed.
