So you want an exotic pet?

     I hope you have an income.  I hope you have patience.  I hope you don't mind a few scars.  I hope you want a long-term commitiment.  I hope you don't like vacations.  I hope you are thorough in your research.  I hope you are understanding.  I hope you don't mind a little smell.  I hope that there is not another abandoned animal

      I know that sounds harsh.  There are a lot of good pet owners out there.  This is true.  However, there are also people out there who get pets -- especially exotic pets-- on a whim.  Living creatures are not a novelty.  They cannot be tossed in a corner of a closet and forgotten about.  They require everything I said before and more.
      Exotic pets can be wonderful.  They can be loving additions to a home and unique friends for when you're down.  The caveat is though, they usually require more attention, money, and patience than the average hamster, gerbil, etc.
      For example(s):
             *Sugargliders require a MINIMAL time of 2 hours attention per day.  This                is after you've bonded-- which is a process unto itself.

             *Chinchilla?  Be prepared to special order supplies and fork over extra $$                  for doing so.  Ordering on-line can be just as bad due to shipping and                      wait.
