Old and New Part 4 of The Convergance Project Chapter 5-Poke Problems. Previous on Convergance Project: In the last chapter, Magus reveals another unit of the Prophecy of Convergance, the document that tells of the future of the entire planet. He uses his powers to summon his charmander which was also Ash Ketchum’s Charizard. At the end of the last chapter, Todd, the photographer, was taking pictures at the Tokyo City Pokemon Gym, lead by Sirus. In compliance with the Porphecy, Ash and his friends are en route to Tokyo from the Pokemon Island. Renai rolled over on the couch she was laying on to read one of the numerous books that Magus had asked her to read to further her magical abilities. It was a long and complecated book, and as boring as the day dirt was born, except somehow more-so. No matter how she tried, she just couldn’t bring herself to concentrate. “That’s it, study break!” She declared shifting off of the sofa and to her feet. She exited into the swirling fog outside the room and went in search of the kitchen. “Hmm, Magus is trying this little idea again is he?” “Who are you supposed to be?” Renai glared at the man who floated before her. “I’d leave befor the Old Man decides to become irrateated. He isn’t fond of unexpected guests.” “Then I’ll leave my name for him. Tetronite.” “You!” Renai’s glare changed to a snarl of rage. “You sided with Spectre and he minions to kill Corvus, and Magus’ family!” She leapt at the man and slashed furiously with her staff. “Knock it off, child. I have no quarrel with you!” Tetronite tried to hit Renai, but found her too fast. “Too bad, cause I got one hell of a quarrell with you!” Renai made a definite connection on her next stroke and bashed Tetronite into the ground. “I know why Spectre wants you. I know many things that could be of use to you.” Tetronite cackled. “Why would I trust scum like you.” Renai tried a basic fire blast spell on the grinning villlain. It didn’t work. “I’d listen to him.” The Red Ranger appeared. “He knows quite a bit, Renai.” Teron Moon dropped from nowhere. “We have you out numbered now, girl. Surrender and join me!” Tetronite bought his hypnosis power forward and used the full force of his will on Renai. “Submit!” “I would rather die than submit to a treacherous leach like you!” Renai screamed as pain coursed through her mind. The orange glow shattered from around her. “Get her!” “Psychokinesis!” “Power Punch!” “Misty calls, Starmie! Swift attack!” The star projectiles blasted Teron Moon out of the air. “I choose you, Pikachu! Thunderbolt!” Tetronite was slammed back by the fierce electric storm. “Vulpix, here we go! Flamethrower!” The red ranger wilted away from the intense heat. “MAGUS!” Tetronite howled in frustration. “Good guess, Tetronite. I’d leave this place, now.” “I have the keys now, Magus. And once I find the Chosen, I’ll control the ultimate power.” Tetronite and his companions vanished. “Renai, I’d like you to meet a few of my other associates. This is Ash Ketchum of Pallet, Brock of Pewter, and Misty of Cerulean.” Magus introduced each of them. “And this is Renai Skeiler. She’s the one who seems to be attracting most of this trouble, but why I can’t figure out.” “Get out of here as fast as you can, Magus is nothing but trouble. I’d go back to whatever life he interuppted, and forget anything he’s told you.” Renai said, not in the least bit sarcastic. “Don’t candy-coat it Renai.” Magus said. “Was that a joke, Old Man? I never thought I’d here that from you.” Renai returned sarcastically, “How ever I do have things to finish.” Renai glanced at each of the people. Brock was tall, even compared to Magus, and was staring openly at her. Misty managed to look both irratated and curious at the same time as the red-head sized her up. Ash was the only one who seemed interested in communicating. “Magus, you said there was Gym here, let’s go!” He demanded. “A moment longer.” A strange wave washed over Renai as she gazed at the group again. Her head became fuzzy as she tried to shake out the sudden cobwebs. “What the heck are you three doing?” “Huh?” Ash asked, suddenly pulled out of his intense concentration on his next badge. Ash was like that sometimes. “What do you mean, what are we doing? We’re the idiots who just saved you!” “Pikachu!” Pikachu agreed. “Well, I didn’t need it, thank you. I can take care of myself, boy.” Renai returned cooly. “It sure didn’t look like it.” Ash said. “Forget her, Ash. If you want to get that badge we have to get going.” Misty said. “Will whichever one of you is doing that, please knock it OFF!” Renai shouted as another wave of dizziness washed over her. Just as suddenly as the three had arrived, they were gone, once again leaving Renai alone in Magus’ gloomy castle. It wasn’t a bad place, if you could ignore the obvious lack of décor, lighting, and the general ominousness of the place. That was the way its owner had intended it to be, and magus wasn’t about to change it for anyone. “So, what was that weird energy I felt.” Renai mused to herself. “I wonder if there isn’t some way for me to find out more. Magus’ books have to have somethng.” She returned to the study. “Lets see if there isn’t something here I can use…” She sorted through the books Magus had set aside for her. ***Poke Problems*** Despite the fact that Ash is now a very long way away from Cinnabar Island, and his battle with Blaine the gym master there, Ash is in good spirits as he treks down the streets of the huge city of Tokyo. There are quite literally hundreds of buildings there, and Ash’s sense of direction isn’t helping much. Fortunately his sense for a pokemon battle is perfect, and we now find him standing before the new Tokyo Pokemon Center. “It’s in a sky-scraper?” Ash looked up at the huge building. “It must be the worlds biggest gym.” Misty said, looking up as well. “I wanna meet the Gym leader.” Brock moaned, “I hope its someone cute.” Ash strode confidently into the lobby of the building, and walked up to the recepiton desk. “I’m Ash Ketchum, and I’m here for a pokemon battle. I want this Gym’s Pokemon League badge.” “Which level do wish to compete at.” The rather plain faced secretary said in a monotone voice. “You must first beat one of the minor trainers here to gain access to the rooftop to battle Sirus.” “What’s the difference between levels?” Ash asked, confused. “Each level has a different pokemon type in it. You must beat the trainer there to take his or her elevator to the roof for your final battle.” “Hmm,” Ash looked at the map the man had produced from one of the drawers. “I definatly don’t want to go to the phychic level,” Ahs thought remembering his battle with Sabrina. “And I don’t think the dragon level is a good idea either. I think I’ll try the…fighting level.” “Elevator 5.” The secretary pointed. “Good luck.” “Boy, he was really cheerful.” Misty observed to Brock. “Nurse Joy would make a far better secretary.” He said confidently. All three of them stepped on the elavator and began the ascent to the fighting level of the tower. “Why fighting, Ash? You should have choosen the water level. Pikachu would win easily.” Misty remarked. “I haven’t seen all that many fighting types, Misty. And I only know two very well. Hitmonchan and Primeape. There have to be more.” “Oh.”//That’s a stupid reason.//
