Field Experience Student Discourse

Description

During the course of the field experience I spent a great deal of time not only working on my experience, but helping out a fellow classmate as well.  I let Brian interview me and I also critiqued his lesson plan.  I really enjoyed seeing such an idealistic young man grow throughout this process as a future educator.  I have no doubt that Brian will succeeded in the knowledge of his content area.  He has a wealth of knowledge.  He takes criticism well and often listens to others.  Below is a critique that I gave of one of his lesson plans.  I know that I asked him a lot of questions about the students in the room because I wanted him to think about them and not just the assignment.  Since he is not yet a teacher I knew he might not know about ELL or ESOL.  Perhaps he did not know about special needs.  Since regular ed teachers know all of this and have been through it, we know what we do in the classroom to meet those needs.  I wanted Brian to be aware of it.  I also wanted him to think about transitions and how much time he was spending on assignments.  Another area I focused on was standards because I knew that his content leader would look for this.
