What a weekend... both fun and frustrating. Friday night I went to a club with Veera and two of her friends. I had alot of fun dancing and whatnot. One guy even asked to dance with me because he had never danced with and American girl and really wanted to... ok? Afterwards we all went to Veera's house out in the subarbs. In the morning I made one-eyes which everyone was baffled by, but they still enjoyed them alot. On saturday afternoon I went to a performance art piece that Veera's dad had made the set for. All I have to say is crazy, crazy Japanese lady. But really, it was fun to watch, I feel more cultured already... Then on saturday night there was a party for students of the social sciences which I planned on going to. However, first Veera and I went to a economics pre-party at another student's house. Now let me preface this by saying I was in a really good mood when I got to the party but after 2 HOURS of sitting and listening to everyone else speak finnish I was about ready to kill someone. Really now, I know english is not the finn's first language, but no one even seemed to notice I existed. Alot of the people I knew didn't even say Hi to me. C'mon, someone bite the bullet and be nice to the foreign girl! Finally we went to a bar down the street but things were no better so I threw a mini temper tantrum and stormed out. After that I went to the party and the evening closed with alot of dancing and alot of death stares on my part. It's not so much the girls that are a problem, they are friendly enough, it"s the guys (who are the vast majority in my deptartment), They seem to forget I exist the minute they finish asking me how I feel about the view that all Americans are fat and lazy... don't even get me started on that. Maybe the real problem is just cultural differences and whatnot, but I really don't think so. So I've tried being very nice and outgoing, and I've tried throwing a mini tantrum... what does it take to get noticed around here!?!?!? Now I have no idea what my next tactic is going to be... maybe toworrow I'll go to class naked...
Anyways, on to bigger and better things... funny pictures!!!
Yes, you are not hullucinating, this is indeed a ONE PIECE tracksuit!! On the back it has the crest for "East Coast College, USA."  I didn't even know East Coast College had a track team...
Alyssa, you can borrow my red shoes but you have to promise to give them back and tell me what you thought about them...
Ah, the Baltic Brawl. Could this possibly rival the time Jessie "the mind" presided over summer slam!?!?!?
This was one of the many moves displayed during this interesting, and sometimes confusing, piece of performance art...
My walls are totally bare white and I don't have anything to put on them so I have decided to make my own "paintings" in chalk on the wall. This is the first one which I did last night, it's the senate square in Helsinki. Sorry the picture isn't so good.
Mmmm, "traditional" Finnish black vodka. God willing I will never have to see it again!
