Babysitting was the only way to earn a little money when I was a teenager so I was allowed to sit only in our neighborhood. My mom was a worrywart! I loved children even back then and loved to read them stories. I do remember one night after I had put the children to bed and they were asleep I let my boyfriend (my next door neighbor then and Hubby of almost 40 years now) in for a brief visit and was very surprised when the neighbors I was sitting for came home early. Boy did I get into trouble! Not only with them but they told my parents too. I think I was grounded for a month and could not see my boyfriend either!
I love to make faces at children in restaurants. I also love to tell moms that they have cute or very well behaved children. I know it made me feel really nice when some stranger complimented us about our children.
Times have changed, I am retired and we do have a Grand Dog that we spoil rotten. I still love children and borrowed the neighbors little ones till they moved away. I do however have a friend that has the sweetest little girls ages 6 & 3. She lets me tag along on outings. We went to an amusement/water park last week and they wore me out! I had as much fun as they did riding on the rides and just playing with them.
I just found out that our new neighbor has a little one and a brand new baby! I am going over and volunteer to help out. My Hubby has been over and told them just how much I need a “baby fix” so they are expecting me. I can’t wait!
