Author’s note: This story is set before graduation, but was written before season 1 ended, television canon and the movies played a roll in the plot.
Chloe was standing outside of her doctor’s house, waiting for a cab to take her home. She mulled over what she had been told. She needed to talk to someone about it, but the only person who had any idea about what she was going through, was one Lex Luthor. She remembered hating him a few years ago. Well, she never spent time actively hating him, or anyone, because that’s counter-productive, but she harbored a strong dislike for him. She thought he was arrogant, and reckless and deep down, she might have known he was competition for Clark. She had admired the way Clark always saw the best in people and gave them the benefit of the doubt, but back then she only saw stories, especially when it came to people like Lex. She probably still had it. ‘It’ being the (huge) file of questions she wanted to ask him as a journalist. Over the years they had sat down for interviews 3 times and not once did they ever finish what they started. She had last checked it 6 or 7 months ago when things calmed down for him and everything seemed above board. Maybe he would answer her questions one day. Maybe if she was really going to die he would give her that.
She decided there would be no morbid thinking for the rest of the weekend and took out her cell phone. She toyed with touching base with Clark and decided against it. What would she say? She took out a piece of paper she had scribbled a number on and dialed.
“Lex, it’s me, it’s done.”
“So…”
“He says that the cancer is advanced. They have to do a bunch of procedures I don’t understand, to see where the cancer has spread. He’s trying to get me to have a hysterectomy, and says I will probably need chemotherapy and radiation to get rid of the rest. All I have to do is decide to stay here or move to Metropolis early.” She said, every word out of her mouth sounding more surreal than the next.
“Metropolis is probably the best way to go treatment wise. I could set you up with doctors. Only the best of course,” he said, wondering why he sounded like he didn’t mind her being gone, or he wasn’t completely shocked by her diagnosis. .
“I don’t know. Doctor Tyler seems to think I should get out of here, but in Metropolis I might be tempted to take that internship at the Daily Planet. See, I loved it there last summer and I don’t know if I’ll be strong enough to write or do anything. Plus I would be alone there until I start college. Here I have family and friends; although I am still not sure I will tell anyone…”
“You told me.”
“Yes I did, didn’t I?’
“So when can I expect you?”
“When do you want me?”
“Five minutes ago.”
“Okay, I’ll run my errands and be right over. Should I call you when I get to the gate?”
“No. Everything’s open.”
“I… bye Lex.”
“Goodbye.”

< Lex Luthor, you humongous boob. You didn’t even take the weekend off when--- You’ve never taken the weekend off! What the fuck is going on? You must be loosing your mind. You can’t even lie to her! ‘5 minutes ago’. It’s true, but it’s not like you to act like such a pup. Next you’ll be begging her… >
Lex quieted his mind. He couldn’t have Clark for many good reasons, none of which applied to the woman he wanted. He was old enough to know that no matter what it might look like to his father, there was absolutely nothing wrong with Chloe and he being… Friends. Intimate friends. Lovers even… If he started acting suspiciously, then he would encounter trouble, with a capital ‘T’.
He’d just have to bear the consequences of his actions if they ever came.
He stopped trying to make his new room cozy and started working to pass the time.

Chloe was shaking as she walked out of her house with an overnight bag. She wanted to go into town to buy some food to cook for Lex, but she couldn’t concentrate on something so trivial. She wondered about chemotherapy and what radiation would feel like. Would she be one of those people who can get around just fine? Would she have flu-like symptoms every day, or would she barely have the strength to get out of bed, like her mother? Would her hair fall out? Would she end up as bald as her lover or would she have clumps of hair coming out some places? Would she recover? Would she ever have children? Would she get to be a real journalist one day like Lois Lane?
Would Lex still want her?
Would she be alone?
She rounded out the corner and walked into the liquor store.
She had at least a month before they were certain about what they were dealing with. That means she had that time to live whatever she wanted. Maybe she should take the blessing and go with it.

When Chloe found Lex he was still in the room she had left him in that morning. She noted the relief that washed over her body as soon as she saw him. She felt better, different, but better. He was deep into whatever he was writing. She cleared her throat.
“I come bearing gifts?”
“Chloe. My savior.”
“Number crunching?” She guessed.
“If I had kept it up any longer, I might have had to jump off the balcony.”
“Then I’m glad I interrupted.”
“So am I. Woo. You look nice.”
“So, you like skirts huh,” she surmised, letting go of the fact that Lex Luthor had just said ‘woo’.
“It’s the legs I like.”
“Really,” she replied coyly, hiking her short skirt up enough for him to see more. She felt so confident with Lex. She felt like she could be a woman with him. His woman, maybe.
“Is that beer you’re carrying?” he questioned with mock alarm.
“Yes. I like beer. My dad and I pick a night during the weekend to hang out and we have a beer together and talk or watch a movie. It’s been going on for at least three years now. I figured I’d share the tradition with you, if beer isn’t too unrefined for you.”
“I don't think I’ve had a beer since college, I’d love to join you.”
“I’ll make you dinner. We’ll have some beer. We’ll talk. We’ll listen to music or watch some television. Maybe we could tour the house so I don’t panic about getting lost every time I leave the room…”
“I hope your plan includes us getting naked sometime soon, because I’m starving, and I still haven’t *tasted* you.”
She blushed crimson.
“I still haven’t… *tasted* you either.”
“Do you want to?”
“I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about it.”
“But have you ever?”
“A couple of times, but I’m not sure if I was any good.”
“Trust me,” he said, getting up and closing the distance between them. “You were.”
“They never said.”
“I’ll tell you. I’ll help you. I’ll…” He whispered, getting closer and closer to her. He stopped just before his lips met hers. “I’ll have a heart attack just thinking about it. Let’s… Let’s get to the kitchen.” He said resolutely, taking the six-pack away from her. He put it away in the room’s mini-refrigerator and motioned for her to follow him. Instead of taking the stairs down to the kitchen, he led her to the service elevator. They got in, both leaning against the back wall, looking at the ugly brown color of the walls.
“Make out with me?” Lex asked nonchalantly, smiling that half smile that could be the death of anyone it was directed at.
Chloe giggled “okay” and strolled over to him. Her tongue snaked out to taste his upper lip teasingly. His hands went straight to her thighs and lifted her skirt so he could touch her tight little backside freely. Chloe lifted one leg to wrap around him and they kissed until the elevator doors had been opened for at least 10 minutes.
He steered her to a counter and she hopped up on it.
“Yes,” said a strained voice, “I like you like this”. His breath was erratic as he unbuttoned her blouse and buried his face between her breasts. He kissed and kneaded and nibbled until she brought him back up for a kiss.
“Lex, I’m still sore. Maybe we can wait a little while?”
“I’m a grown man, I can wait. No problem.”
“You sound like you’re trying to convince yourself.” She laughed.
“I can’t help it. Maybe it’s because it’s been so long but when I’m with you, I feel like I have no control over my body,” he panted, leaning against her chest, kissing her soft skin with the side of his mouth. “I can do this,” he said as his hands shot up into a surrender position and he backed away from the girl.
He watched the strawberry blonde button up her shirt and hop down, a strange look on her face.
Chloe didn’t like the idea of being physically far away from him, not any more. If she could, she would stay glued to him. It made her feel better. The affection she received from the physical closeness was healing her wounds. Just because she didn’t want intercourse right away didn’t mean she didn’t want to do *stuff* with him. She didn’t blame him for misunderstanding, though, but instead of saying what she thought, she decided actions spoke louder than words.
She advanced towards him slowly and proceeded to unbutton his pants, letting them fall around his ankles.
“Oh, you’re just teasing now.”
“No I’m not. I’m going to take the edge off so you can join me in a nice meal. Does that sound good?”
“Hell yes. But just so you know: it’s your turn later little girl.”
“I’m looking forward to it,” she said breathily as she brought her hands over his butt, pushing down his satin boxer shorts.
She teased him with her fingers as she kissed him senseless, then slowly got down on her knees. Lex’s eyes were feral and pre-cum came oozing out of his penis. Chloe wrenched her eyes away from him to concentrate on the task at hand. First, she explored with her eyes, noticing consciously for the first time that he didn’t have any pubic hair. Then she ran her fingers over the throbbing cock. To her surprise, his flesh was smooth and remarkably sensitive for something so hot, hard and fundamentally male.
She tongued the head, tasting him for the first time. She wet her lips and holding the base, went all the way down on him, trying not to knick him with her teeth.
Once his entire length was properly lubricated, she took him out of her mouth and breathed in his unique sent. Slowly, deliberately, she licked him from tip to base, occasionally taking the head into her mouth and sucking. Moving her hands to cup his balls, the young girl did what her last fling had requested. She massaged them gently but firmly, all the while licking and sucking. As his moans grew louder and his hips began a slight thrust, she started to take more and more of him into her mouth. By the time she had added her other hand to stroke him as her lips moved further and further down on him he had surrendered completely to the feelings she created. He moaned his praise and pleads and had his fingers wrapped up in her hair, not directing, but simply hanging on.
Deciding to go for broke, Chloe took her hand away from his balls and trust them up inside herself to wet them. Not stopping the movement of her other hand and mouth, she slowly moved her hand to his anus. Stealing a glance at Lex, she found his eyes wide open and dark with desire. Not knowing if she was doing right or wrong, she halted the movement until he urged her on. "More, Chloe. Don't stop," he begged.
Feeling the power rush through again, she picked up the pace of her hand and mouth and slowly began to work a finger into his puckered opening. Once she had it inserted, she synchronized the movements of both hands and inserted a second finger. So engrossed in bringing him pleasure she never noticed his hips thrusting faster and faster until they became almost frantic.
"Chloe, Oh God Chloe, I’m going to, now..." he said as he began pulling her mouth away.
Although the sentiment was nice, she was enjoying it too much to stop just yet. She grabbed his derričre with her free hand and directed him back towards her. He came hard with a satisfying ‘ah’ and too weak to stand, he dropped to his knees and leaned his head on her shoulder.
It wasn’t sixty seconds later that he started to laugh. He laughed all the way through standing up on shaky legs and pulling up his pants.
He helped Chloe up and calmed down when she asked him why.
“Chloe,” he approached her, grinning from ear to ear. “Chloe, Chloe, Chloe,” he repeated, taking her hands in his. He pulled her closer to him, bringing his hands up to her hair, smoothing it out. He put his forehead on hers and sighed. “You shocked the hell out of me, little one. I didn’t think that could happen anymore.”
