Annie was born in January of the year 1979, in Sydney, Australia. She has moved houses several times, four times within the Sydney region, and twice in Brisbane, Australia, as well as three times while in Connecticut, USA. The Russian heritage she has inherited has not been explored.

Her cerebral palsy and her hearing loss have not deterred her quest for life - instead, she has seen these disadvantages as positive ways to seek justice for people with similar backgrounds to her own.

Upon completing school, Annie chose to pursue an education in child care and school support, while also working part time in a school for children with hearing impairments. She continues to pursue her education, no longer in the child care field or in the education industry, but in the Information Technology sector. Annie currently has a partner, lives in Sydney with her family, is studying Information Technology at TAFE NSW via correspondence and works part time for the Australian Association of the Deaf.

Actress Kate Mulgrew is credited for being Annie's inspiration.
