ABOUT ERASURE: Erasure was born in 1985, when Andy Bell was answering Vince's advertisement for a singer. Andy was the 43. singer who did auditioning "Who Needs Love Like That". Erasure have said that "Erasure" came from the movie "Eraserhead". The many stories involving a demo tape being mistakenly marked "Erasure" have never been confirmed. In September the same year, Erasure gives out their first single "Who Needs Love Like That" but their first real big hit was "Sometimes" released in 1986, that reached number 2 in the UK single chart in August. That was the first of 24 UK top 20 singles - also including the first part of Abba Esque (EP). In the beginning Vince wrote the lyrics, but he gradually settled to Andy to do this job with mainly Vince doing the music. In the Wonderland album, Andy has sole writing credits on one song - "Cry So Easy". |
