The American Bald Eagle is a sign of Freedom!


The flag of thirteen Stars and thirteen Strips was adopted by the Continental Congress on June 14, 1777.


There were originally 13 states! They were called colonies.


Brave men fought for our country to make it free and equal!


The Constitution is the basic set of rules that governs this country. It provides the form of government, limits of the government's powers, and for assurances of the rights and liberties of its citizens.

Preamble:
We, the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Prosperity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.


The Liberty Bell was made in England in 1752. It was rung every year until 1835, because it cracked during the funeral of Chief Justice John Marshall.
The bell weighs more than 2,080 pounds. Pennsylvania paid about $300 for it in 1752. It is now in the Tower Room of Independence Hall in Philadelphia.


The Statue of Liberty is the large copper statue that stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. The statue's proper name is Liberty Enlightening the World. The United States received the statue from France in 1884. The French donated about $250,000 for the construction of the statue and the United States gave about $280,000 for the pedestal.


The White House is the official residence of the President of the United States. It contains the living quarters for the Chief Executive's family and the offices in which the President and his staff conduct official business.
The White House is located in Washington D.C., at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. It has 132 rooms.
The White House was first called Executive Mansion in 1818, then called the President's Mansion, then the President's Home, and then the President's Palace. President Theodore Roosevelt authorized the official name in 1902, the White House.


There are currently 50 states in the United States.


The Flag now has 50 stars and 13 horizontal stripes, 7 are red and 6 are white.
