I am shutting down the Simple Kind of Life website, and closing off the stories to general view. I was watching an episode of Brothers and Sisters last night and the final scene between Sally Field and her son, at the time did not seem familiar to me, but waking up this morning it occurred to me. They sat at the pool and dipped their feet in and said some final words to each other, words of resolution. One of my episodes has that scene in it...perhaps housewarming. Gosh darn it, I cannot think of which one it is right now, but I am certain that I have that scene. I know the writers of Brother and Sisters are so superb and have a better knack of storytelling than I do and would never think of stealing from a hopeless unknown hack like myself. But my work is not copyrighted. It is just there available for any writer suffering from writer's block to assimilate and capture in a revised form in their current art, which unlike mine has a broader audience and some measure of copyright. So it is the end of Simple Kind of Life. I apologize to anyone who may constantly check this website for updates, and I immensely thank all those who read this piece and were extremely touched by it. It's been the best release and one of the greatest accomplishments of my life writing this story and bringing this story to be, year after year. It's built so much hope in me to create an art form that is so fictional yet so true at least to me. As any writer can attest, it's one thing to have it in our heads and long to write, the other piece is capturing it on paper, and the most important piece is seeing it on film or in print and having people affected by it. I have seen all but one of those pieces and for that I am truly thankful. And to Keanu I say thank you for being a constant source of inspiration and the quiet calm to my madness!
