If pathogenic bacteria is suspected, a sample of water should be submitted for bacteriological testing and recommendations.

Bacteria can be treated by
  • microfiltration,
  • reverse osmosis,
  • ultrafiltration,
  • chemical oxidation and disinfection.


Ultraviolet sterilization will also kill bacteria.
