Quiero suscribirme al grupo pero no tengo una cuenta de gran capacidad para recibir las revistas:
Hay diferentes servidores de correo que ofrecen cuentas gratuitas, como Gmail (http://gmail.google.com), Yahoo (http://mail.yahoo.com), XasaMail (www.xasamail.com), Hriders (www.hriders.com), Omnilect (www.omnilect.com) o Walla (http://mail.walla.com). Para abrir una cuenta de Gmail es necesario recibir una invitación. Para recibirla podés enviar un mensaje a contactointercambios@gmail.com solicitandola. Recibo los archivos y no los puedo descomprimir:
La mayoría de los archivos se envían en formatos comprimidos (zip, rar, ace, etc.). Para poder abrirlos correctamente necesitarás un programa como Winrar (http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar342.exe). Es posible también que no estén comprimidos sino que las imágenes escaneadas estén incluidas dentro de un archivo de Word (.doc) o Acrobat Reader (.pdf). Para poder visualizarlos deberás contar con el programa correspondiente. Tengo el programa para descomprimir archivos pero me indica que algunos de ellos no son válidos o están corruptos:
A veces se debe simplemente a que la persona que realizó el envío comprimió mal el archivo y al recibirlo se pasó por alto su revisión por error. Pero también suele suceder que si los archivos tienen nombres con caracteres que no son letras ni números (#, º, ~, etc.) la máquina no los reconozca. Para poder leerlos basta con guardarlos en la pc con un nombre diferente, que sólo contenga letras o números y menos de 8 caracteres (sin espacios), Recibo revistas pero vienen desde otras direcciones que no son contactointercambios@gmail.com. ¿Pertenecen al grupo?:
Sí. Debido a que el servidor de correo impone un límite de envíos diarios, se utilizan otras direcciones para poder distribuir más revistas durante el día. Pero ninguna de estas direcciones están disponibles para recibir aportes / mensajes / preguntas / inscripciones, etc. Cualquier tipo de mensaje, incluso los envíos de revistas, deben hacerse a contactointercambios@gmail.com. Durante todo el día de hoy/ayer no he recibido ninguna revista. ¿Qué sucede?:
El manejo de este grupo es manual, no se realiza a través de un sistema automatizado, sino que la administradora se encarga de recibir los envíos, chequear que la revista no haya sido intercambiada anteriorente, anotar la fecha en que el participante realizó su último aporte, guardar la portada para subirla al álbum, administrar el sitio web, administrar las suscripciones y cancelaciones y demás actividades que demanda el funcionamiento del grupo. Como todos, es posible que haya tenido algún inconveniente para realizar los envíos.
En la regla número 1 dice “las direcciones que reboten envíos en forma reiterada serán automáticamente eliminadas del grupo”. ¿Qué significa “en forma reiterada”?:
Significa que la dirección devuelva los envíos de revistas durante más de 5 días. Por esto es importante que la dirección que se utiliza para inscribirse en el grupo sea de gran capacidad, y no se aceptan direcciones de Hotmail. He realizado mis envíos cada 20 días pero creo que me han eliminado del grupo. ¿es posible que así sea?:
Sí. Esto puede suceder en cuatro supuestos: - que tu dirección de e-mail haya rebotado mensajes en forma reiterada. - que hayas enviado tu aporte desde otra dirección diferente a la que utilizaste para suscribirte al grupo y no hayas aclarado en el mensaje que estabas enviando desde otra casilla. -que hayas enviado tus archivos a otra dirección que no es contactointercambios@gmail.com. - que hayas compartido la clave de acceso al archivo con otras personas ajenas al grupo. Quiero cambiar mi dirección de participación en el grupo:
Es suficiente con que envíes un mensaje a contactointercambios@gmail.com indicando cuál era tu dirección anterior y a cuál quisieras cambiar. El archivo que contiene mi revista está hecho en un programa que no sé manejar (Word, Acrobat Reader, etc.). ¿Cómo hago para enviar la portada en un archivo separado?:
Es fácil. Se debe copiar la pantalla con un botón que se encuentra en el teclado (generalmente encima del botón “Insert”) que se llama “Impr Pant” o “Print Screen”. Luego pegar esa imagen en algún archivo de imagen (por ejemplo, en el programa Paint) y guardarla para enviarla junto con la revista. He enviado mis aportes pero parece que no han sido recibidos. ¿Pueden confirmar la recepción de cada envío que hacen los participantes?:
Lamentablemente, debido a que el manejo del grupo no es automático y se recibe un gran volumen de mensajes por día, no es posible confirmar a cada participante que su envío ha sido recibido. Pero para asegurarse de que no haya inconvenientes, es posible prestar atención a lo siguiente: -que el archivo se haya enviado a contactointercambios@gmail.com y no a cualquiera de las otras direcciones que se utilizan dentro del grupo. -buscar algún mensaje con el nombre “Delivery Status Notification”, “Mail Delivery Subsystem“ o similar, que indique que el envío fue rebotado. -verificar que el envío no haya superado el límite de 8 mb que impone el servidor. Estoy buscando una revista específica y quisiera saber si alguien en el grupo la tiene para pedirle que la comparta:
Sí, para ese propósito específico se encuentra disponible el foro del grupo, en http://forums.cjb.net/intercambiosrev.html La idea de este foro es que al solicitar una revista, quien la tenga la comparta al grupo, para que pueda ser aprovechada por todos. Los mensajes dentro del foro en los que se piden envíos privados fuera del grupo son eliminados. Tengo unas fotos e ideas para trabajos manuales muy interesantes que me gustaría compartir, aunque no son una revista. ¿Puedo enviarlos al grupo?
No. En este grupo solamente se intercambian revistas. Este grupo se ha creado para evitar problemas de copyright, y por eso no funciona con el sistema de Yahoo grupos, MSN grupos, Googlegroups, etc. Si te interesa intercambiar material que no sean revistas, está disponible el grupo Manualidades y Artesanias en http://groups.msn.com/manualidadesyartesanias Me gustaría poder comunicarme con otros participantes del grupo para hablar sobre otro tema que no se refiere a solicitar revistas. ¿Dónde puedo encontrarlos?
Desde el sitio web del grupo (al final de la página de inicio) se puede acceder a una sala de chat privada. Intento acceder al archivo de revistas pero la contraseña es incorrecta.
En primer lugar, no olvides que se accede a través del programa Peer2Mail (en la web se puede encontrar un tutorial paso a paso para instalarlo y usarlo). La contraseña se debe ingresar tal como se te ha enviado, incluyendo todos los caracteres no alfanuméricos. Para no cometer errores es recomendable copiarla y pegarla. La contraseña es la misma para todas las cuentas de archivo. Un amigo/a quiere descargarse las revistas del archivo pero no tiene tiempo para participar enviando una revista cada 20 días. ¿Puedo darle mi clave?
No. Compartir la clave con quien no pertenece al grupo es causal de cancelación de la membresía. Quien desee recibir las revistas en forma gratuita sólo debe inscribirse en el grupo y compartir una revista o libro que no haya sido enviado anteriormente cada 20 días. No recuerdo cuándo envié mi último aporte para contabilizar los 20 días. ¿Pueden facilitarme un listado con las fechas en las que cada participante realizó su último envío?
Estamos trabajando en eso, ya que la gran cantidad de envíos diarios hace que las fechas cambien constantemente y el listado estaría siempre desactualizado. Por el momento solicitamos a cada participante tomar nota de la fecha de su último envío. Quiero suscribirme pero la inscripción está cerrada. ¿Puedo inscribirme de todas formas?
No. La inscripción se cierra al llegar a los 200 participantes debido a que el límite de destinatarios del servidor de correo es de 100 personas, por lo que los envíos se están realizando en dos tandas. Si la cantidad de participantes superara los 200 deberían hacerse tres tandas y sería triple trabajo para la administradora. Sin embargo, la lista de participantes se actualiza constantemente al haber miembros que son eliminados por no participar, y la inscripción se abre nuevamente cuando la cantidad de miembros baja de 200, así que no dejes de volver a visitar la página. Mi envío fue rechazado (envío repetido, mala calidad, revista incompleta, envío incorrecto, etc.) ¿Debo enviar otra revista para que vuelva a empezar el plazo de 20 días o el envío rechazado también cuenta?
No, los envíos rechazados se toman por no enviados. Deberás volver a enviar la misma revista (si es que no estaba repetida) o enviar otra dentro de los 20 días de tu último envío. ¿Puedo enviar más de una revista para no tener que volver a enviar otra a los 20 días?
No. La regla es que se envíe al menos una revista o libro cada 20 días. Si alguien quiere aportar más de una, queda en su criterio, pero a los 20 días de enviada tendrá que volver a compartir otra colaboración al grupo. El objetivo de este grupo es que el intercambio sea dinámico, participando todos activamente.

Most of the files are sent in a compressed format (zip, rar, ace, etc.). To be able to open them you’ll need a program like Winrar (www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar342.exe). Also, some of them are not compressed but the scanned images are included in a Word (.doc) o Acrobat Reader (.pdf) file. To open them you need those programs. I have the program to decompress the files but I get a message saying that they’re corrupt or invalid.
Sometimes it’s just that the person who sent the file made a wrong compression and we missed checking that one. But there’s also another option, which is that some files have names with other characters than letters and numbers (#, º, ~, etc.) and so the computer can’t recognize them. To be able to read them you have to download and save them to your hard disk and then change the file name to something that only has letters or numbers and less than 8 characters (without spaces). I receive magazines but they come from addresses other than contactointercambios@gmail.com. Do they belong to the group?
Yes. Due to the daily limits that the server has for sending files, other e-mail addresses are used to distribute the magazines too. But none of these addresses are available for sending magazines / messages / questions / subscriptions, etc. Any kind of message, even the ones with magazines attached, must be sent to contactointercambios@gmail.com. I haven’t received any magazines during yesterday/today. ¿What’s the problem?
This group is not automatic, it’s all “hand-made”, so the moderator has to receive the files from the members, check if they were traded in the past, write down the date in which everyone sent their last magazine, save the cover to add it to the album, be the webmaster for the group web site, manage subscriptions and unsubcriptions, and all other activities that are necessary for the group to work. As everyone, someday she can have problems to find the time to do all that. In rule number 1 says “e-mail addresses that bounce deliveries repitedly will be automatically unsubscribed from the group”. ¿what does “repitedly” mean to you?
It means that the e-mail address bounces messages for more than 5 days. That’s why it’s important to subscribe with an address that has big storage capacity, and subscriptions with Hotmail accounts are not allowed. I’ve sent my magazines every 20 days but I think I’ve been unsubscribed from the group. Is that possible?
Yes. That could have happened if: - your e-mail bounced repitedly the messages sent to it. - you sent your files from other address than the one you used to subscribe (the one in which you receive the magazines from the group) and didn’t mention it in the message body or subject. - you sent your magazines to other address than contactointercambios@gmail.com. - you shared the password for the archive with other people who are not group members. I would like to change the e-mail address I use to participate in the group.
You only have to send a message to contactointercambios@gmail.com saying which was your old address and which one you would like to use from now on. The file containing my magazine is in a format I don’t know how to use (Word, Acrobat Reader, etc.). How do I send the cover in a separate file?
It’s easy. You have to copy the screen with the keyboard. The key is generally placed above the “Insert” key and it says “Print Screen”. Then you have to paste that image in an image file (for example, in the “Paint” program) and save it to your hard drive to send it with the file. Unfortunately, due to the hard work that involves managing the group and the big amount of messages received every day, it’s not possible to send a confirmation address to each member. But to make sure that your file was sent ok you can check the following: -that the message was sent to contactointercambios@gmail.com and not to any of the other e-mail addresses used in the group for distributing or archiving magazines. -search for a message with the name/subject “Delivery Status Notification”, “Mail Delivery Subsystem“ or something like that, telling you that the message you sent bounced. -check that your message (with all the files and everything) was below the 8mb limit. I’ve been looking for a specific magazine I can’t find and I’d like to know if anyone in the group has it.
Yes, you can use the group forum for that http://forums.cjb.net/intercambiosrev.html The forum is for asking for magazines that you would like to get, and if anyone has that magazine, they share it to the group. Messages asking for private trades outside the group are deleted. I have some great pictures and idea for crafting that I’d like to share, although they’re not part of a magazine. Can I still send them to the group?
No. The purpose of this group is to trade only magazines. The group was created to avoid copyright problems, so that’s why it’s a private group and it’s not on Yahoo, MSN, Googlegroups, etc. If you’re interested in showing your pictures, asking for ideas, etc. you can join “Manualidades y Artesanias” at groups.msn.com/manualidadesyartesanias I’d like to contact other group members to talk about other stuff than looking for magazines I’d like to get. ¿Where can I find them?
At the group web site (end of the homepage) you can access a private chat room. I try to access the magazines archive but the password is incorrect.
First of all, don’t forget you need the program Peer2Mail to enter the archive (you can find a tutorial in the web site). The password must be entered just like you received it, including all non-alphanumeric characters. To avoid mistakes it’s better to copy and paste. The password is the same one for all the archive accounts. A friend of mine would like to download magazines from the archive but he/she doesn’t have the time to participate sending a file every 20 days. Can I give him/her my password?
No. Sharing the password with people who don’t belong to the group causes automatic membership cancellation. Whoever wants to receive magazines for free only has to subscribe and share a magazine or book every 20 days. I don’t remember when I sent my last file to count the 20 days. Can you send me a list with the dates of every member’s last sent file?
We’re working on it, since we get so many files every day that it’s impossible to keep a list up-to-date. By now we ask the members to keep track of the date in which they sent their last magazine for the group. I want to participate but subscription is closed. Can I subscribe anyway?
No. Subscription is closed every time that we have 200 members. This is because the e-mail server has a recipients limit of 100 for each message, so each magazine is being distributed to the members in two messages. If we had more than 200 members we should send them in three messages and it would be a much harder work. However, the membership is updated all the time since there are always members who are cancelled because of not participating, and the membership is opened again when there are less than 200 people, so keep an eye on the web page. My file was rejected (already traded magazine, bad quality scanning, incomplete magazine, etc.) Should I send another magazine so my 20 days limit start again or maybe the rejected file also counts?
No, rejected files are considered as not sent. You should send the file again (if it wasn’t already traded) or send another one during the 20 next days since the day you sent your last magazine to the group. Can I send more than one magazine to avoid having to send another one after 20 days?
No. The rule is to send at least one magazine or book every 20 days. If anyone wants to send more than one it's up to them, but after 20 days since the last magazine/book was received he/she will have to send another one. The goal of this is to have an active membership. |
