Being
the namesake of the anime, Arc plays a very important role even
though he is not the main character. Unlike Elk, Arc is the very
picture of a hero with the personality to match. He is the best
fighter in the series, very gentle and kind, concerned about the
normal people
of the world, always wanting to help them, and also a pretty boy.
Arc's
story is still a little bit ambiguous at this point in time. But
what is known that he grew up in the country of Sumeria, where
his uncle was
the king. Arc was the royal successor of the monarchy of Sumeria
but one day as he walked into the throne room, he saw his uncle
dead,
killed by a sword wound. Andel, the chief _was standing beside
the corpse with the bloodied sword. When Arc asked why, all he
did was
point the sword at Arc. Arc then ran off with the priestess
Kukuru, Pogo, Gougen and Tosh on the Silver Noah, trying to
escape. Andel then
blamed the assassination of the monarch on Arc so that he would
be pursued all over the world.
It
is now Arc and the Silver Noah that is known as the 'evil
assassin' of the world. And at the start of the series, you think
that too. But when
you meet Arc, your thoughts begin too change. He is too saintly
too be the enemy. And after a while, you know that he is the
actual good
guy, trying to save humanity. He wants to foil all of plans of
the evil people (ie Mayor Galliano etc), and because of that,
there is bad
propaganda on Arc and co.
Arc's
power is strongly linked with the powers of the sacred spirit. It
was his lineage that was to protect the most precious gift from
the sacred
spirit, the sacred container. No one may open the sacred
container, for it invites calamities when it is opened (sounds
like Pandora's box).
Only the priestess of the sacred spirit (Kukuru) could open it,
and the one who is to protect the priestess is the chosen and
approved
single hero of the fivefold sacred spirit, who is of course Arc.
The relationship between the two is extremely close; most likely
they are lovers.
Actually, they are lovers. I don't think much else can be said on
this topic.
In
addition, Arc has healing powers, and uses it readily to help the
people of the land. He goes around to places, saving as many
people he
can, especially those who are deceived by the...let's just call
them 'evil people' for now. However, he tells these people he
saved not to
tell anyone else that he saved them. This is because it would
only bring more trouble onto the people themselves. So it seems
that Arc is
quite selfless.
When
you compare Arc and Elk, the two are nearly totally different. In
my eyes anyway. Arc acts like the typical hero while Elk is the
more
unconventional one. As you have probably guessed, I dig Arc more
then Elk. Strange to see Elk as that main character. Oh well, but
that's
the series.
