"The first time I drove a [manual transmission], I was with my mom
and didn't do so hot," she smiles. "So, I went to driving school at
Sears, and that's how I learned to drive an automatic. My dad taught
me how to drive a [manual] after that. I passed my driving school,
which you don't have to pass.
All the DMV makes you do is the eye [test] and the 10-question computer test. If you pass that and the driving portion with the school, you get your permit. Your parents get to choose whether they want you to take another written test, and hardly anybody does."
