The Medal of Honor

The Navy Cross.

The Silver Star

The U.S. Navy's third highest combat award. For distinguished gallantry in action against an enemy of the United States. It is awarded only for combat heroism. It was established in 1932.

The Navy Distinguished Service Medal

For exceptionally meritorious service to the government in a duty of great responsibility. It is our third highest military award. First authorized in 1919.

The Legion of Merit

For exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service. Authorized in 1942, it is normally awarded only to a high ranking officer of staff or flag rank or to Heads of State of Foreign Countries, Chiefs of Staff and other high ranking foreign dignitaries.

[In Pacific Thunder, this award is most often given for completion of a special mission, a photo reconnaissance mission, or a lifeguard mission.]

The Purple Heart

Awarded for wounds or death as a result of an act of any opposing armed force. Re-established in 1932, it was first used in the Revolutionary War to recognize feats of valor. It was the first medal issued by the emergent United States of America.
