How should we pronounce the Creator's Name?

Our Creator' sacred name:

Today there is much debate on how God's personal name should be pronounced. The two most common names being used today are Yahweh and Jehovah. We see the name Jehovah being used in motion pictures and on many walls of ancient churches. And Jehovah is the common pronunciation of God's name in english. And this is the useage that we will discuss in this article.

The Westminster Dictionary of the Bible has this to say about the name Jehovah: "The common English pronunciation of the Hebrew tetragram YHWH, one of the names of God. (Exodus 17:15)"

This dictionary also says: "It seems that, out of reverence for the divine name, there had grown up around 300 B.C. the custon among the Jews in reading to pronounce the word 'adonay (my Lord, or LORD) in it's stead. When the vowel points were added to the Hebrew consonantal text, the vowels adonay and elohim were added accordingly given to the tetragram. This pointing gave rise to the English pronunciation, JEHOVAH, current since the days of Petrus Galatinus, confessor of Leo X, A.D. 1518."

In it's concluding remarks concerning the name Jehovah the Westminster Dictionary says: "To know that God is Jehovah and to know the name Jehovah do not denote a mere external acquaintance with the word Jehovah, but an experience of God manifesting himself to his people in grace and love."
