MicroCon97
The event was a blast. Sure there were things to complain about but there always will be. So, let's concentrate on the good.
I met everyone, Marty Abrams, Steven Seagle, even Kadeem Hardison. They were all as nice as could be. Of course I met Ruben Torres. Many of us have been in touch with Ruben but now we finally met him. Ruben's collection is daunting. I could never amass such a prize. I, as were many others, was quite impressed. Stay tuned to MICRONET for pics of Ruben's collection.
The news...
Micronauts will return.
In the Comics, in the toys, perhaps even in Japan.
The schedule of events may take a while but they will return.
Steven Seagle has been putting Micronauts references in Alpha Flight since issue 1 and says that Micronauts will be in the comic as of issue 8. He gave out a lot of info as to what will be coming up but, I don't want to spoil anything. It seems we may see more than Bug, Mari, and Rann. This may change the way the story goes so, stay tuned to Alpha Flight and read between the lines.
Marty Abrams seemed quite enthusiastic about new Micronauts for the collectors market. He was a fountain of information. An interesting example would be the origin of Baron Karza's name. One of Abram's competitors, and friends was (is) named Azrak, Karza backwards. A little inside joke in the toy industry. Mr. Abrams also brought Micronaut commercials for all to view. What a sight. Of all the commercials shown I remembered 2 of them. It was a fine bit of nostalgia. He also had his Gold Geag. Truly a beautiful site to behold.
I met a lot of great people. Ruben Torres, Ron Pringle, Gordon Smuder and his wife, Michael Jaecks, Ray Miller, Aaron and his girlfirend from Brooklyn and the father of Micronauts on the web Erik Larsen. Meeting all these people and hanging around with them was the highlight of the event for me. Everyone of them was as nice as could be. I'd go again just to go bummin' with 'em.
I'll post more about the 'con later.
First I need to recover and get some sleep.
