The Games of Saberhaven
Jurak Snowaxe vs. Bareth

The crowd greets the dark elf Bareth with considerable appaulse, obviosly favoring the evil woman over her much larger, but inexperienced, opponent. Jurak Snowaxe, the Iceling fighting for his minotaur slave masters, steps into the arena carrying to large bolders and sets one down.
Seeing the large projectiles, the dark elf woman moves a bit closer to her combatant. As Juark is about to lauch his first boulder, Bareth calls upon her magical ways to outline the Iceling in a violet glow. The first boulder flies wide.
Jurak picks up the second as Bareth speedily moves to within thirty yards of the Iceling. As he lauches the second boulder, she speaks loudly, "Subimt to me at once!"
The Iceling seems uneffected by her suggestion, but fails to land the second boulder as well.
Jurak moves forward with his huge swords held forward. The dark elf nibly advances as well with her long and short sword held out, ready to battle.
The elf thrusts with her long sword, but it's knocked away by the Iceling. Her short sword fails to penetrate the magical protection of Jurak.
The Iceling parries another long sword shot to the leg, then smashes back with two shots, to the chest and hip accordingly.
The elf woman is visibly staggered by the blows. She summons an area of darkness around the two of them, an unpopular move with the crowd when they "boo" as they cannot see the combat.
Inside the circle of blackness, the elf woman goes on the defensive, parrying one shot, and magically evading two others.
Jurak, having been trained to fight in the dark, seems off a bit, but fights on. All the sudden, he tries to cop down on the elf, but ends up hitting himself in the leg. Strangely, he seems to hurt and heal somwhat at the same time.
Bareth follows with her final short sword strike on the Iceling's leg.
Jurak moves into a defensive position, parrying the blows of the dark elf. As bareth steps back, and seems to rub something on herself with her fists, The Iceling sneaks in a blow to the knees that keeps her hopping.
Suddenly, Jurak finds himself tryign to resist an urge to float into the air. Firmly planting himself, he doesn't levitate anywhere.
The two continue to parry each other's blows from defensive stances, to the jeers of the crowd.
Jumping back on the offensive, Bareth jabs at the Iceling's gut, but not before the quick wristed Jurak parries the blow to the side.
Bareth twists to the side and spins in the opposite direction, trying to outmaneuver the Iceling, but loses her balance on some loose dirt, almost catches herself, then falls back in the other direction and falls to the ground, landing on the edge of her sword.
Taking advantage of the downed elf, Jurak chops down hard twice with his swords. The elf woman stays down, groaning. The crowd behind to chant, "Jurak! Jurak!" The Iceling takes a final shot to knock the woman unconscious.
The crowd goes wild with cheers before the priests enter to help the elf out. Jurak smiles at his victory, feeling none the worse for wear.
