Scully's investigative enthusiasm overtook her partner and Mulder began to go out and pound the pavement to compliment Scully's scientific labwork. Looking for someone with a green thumb, Mulder hit the jackpot when he tracked down a man who, despite his ragged appearance, was known in most circles as the Green Grocer. With information in hand, Mulder rushed back to Scully's apartment to share with her his green epiphany.

"Soylent Green is people...it's PEOPLE!" Fearing that Mulder had become sidetracked somehow, Scully administered a mild sedative and handed Mulder a Chia Kangaroo. Turning back to her microscope to search for further clues, she worried that this case would not have the sort of closure Mulder wanted. But, looking at her window sill filled with a row of Chia Pets, she had to admit it had more than some of their cases.
