U.S.S.Enterprise-D
The Federation fifth starship to carry the name Enterprise. The Enterprise-D is a Galaxy-class that was launched in 2363 from the Utopia Planitia Yards orbiting Mars and placed under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard(one of the greatest captains in my opinion)on a mission of deep-space exploration and diplomacy.The ship was severely damaged when they first encountered the Borg in early 2367. It had to undergo six weeks of repair work at Earth Station Mckinley. A defective dilithium chamber hatch was installed at McKinley Station and caused a severe explosion in the ship's warp-drive system that crippled the Enterprise for two weeks. Sabotage was initially suspected, but it was later learned that undetectable flaws in the hatch were responsible. The Enterprise was trapped in a Temporal causality loop was repeatedly destroyed in 2368 near the Typhon Expanse. In early 2369 the ship was briefly commanded by Captain Edward Jellico when Captain Picard was assigned to a covert Starfleet mission on planet Celtris III. Then Enterprise-D was again destroyed in 2371 during a mission to prevent a deranged scientist from destroying the Veridian system. During the mission, the ship took a direct hit from a Klingon Bird of Prey, causing a loss of antimatter containment. Executive Officer William T Riker ordered an emergency saucer separation. When the Star Drive section of the ship exploded, the shock wave knocked the saucer section out of orbit and in to the planet's atmosphere. The saucer section had a rough landing. It was deemed a total loss but there were no fatalities.
