Shadows. by Marita. 1/12/99.
I was one of the members of the mysterious group referred to by others as the "Shadows." All that we were were that we had either grown up in nature, or developed a close bond with nature. We could flash by your eyes in a forest, running almost as fast as the wind. We ducked behind trees, and sometimes you could catch a glimpse of us, a shadow. I was somehow a newer member; I was fast, but there were ones hundreds of years older than myself, even faster and more evasive. The forests were getting thin; the branches shriveled and foliage gone, especially near the forest edge. We lead normal lives as well; we go into the city. I have made friends there, but one girl, one good friend of mine suspects something more to me. She often tries to follow me, but I am too fast for her.
