The First "Lands" on the Earth

Who are the Watchers . . . ?

The Watcher are/were a class of angels.  Their job "during the days of Jared" was to teach, comfort and help the new race of mankind.  The Watchers are mentioned many times in the Bible, mostly the Old Testament book of Daniel,  and even more so in the Apocrypha and the Pseudepigrapha.  Such texts as the Book of Daniel, the Books of Enoch and the Books of Adam and Eve, and the Book of Jubilees deal extensively with the Fallen Watchers and their many sins upon Mankind, the animal kingdom and the Earth, not to mention their sins against their Creator.  According to the Midrash(es), Myth & Legends among other sources, 200 Watchers descended upon Ardis, the summit of Mount Hermon and took human form.  They then carried out their plans of breeding with the "daughters of men", 200 species of animals (which they had listed previously to coming to Earth), and to teaching their Earthly mates and Man(kind) the secrets of the Heavens, i.e., Magic, Divination, Spells, Weaponry, Metallurgy, Cosmetics, Jewelry, Abortion, Astrology, Herbalism, Writing and many other "secrets.  

By all accounts, the Watchers loved and were proud of their monstrous children.  The Watchers were rounded up and chained until the day of Judgment, they were forced to view the deaths of their children as they were driven mad and turned on their brothers and slaughtered one another, and by the Holy Watchers who were angered by their betrayal of the Heavenly secrets.  After their children had all been physically destroyed, many of the Watchers were imprisoned in the 5th Heaven (were they remain mute and distraught while awaiting their judgment day), while others were imprisoned "in the Earth."  Azazel was chained and cast into the "Cave of Dudael" in the great desert of Dudael.  It was a pit of jagged, sharp stones and was then "covered with darkness".  Shemihaza was hung by one leg, upside down (a.k.a. Orion a.k.a. the Hanged Man of the Tarot) over Dudael (?) exactly half-way between Heaven and Earth.  He is in a completely isolated environment.

Who are the Nephilim . . . ?

The Nephilim are sometimes thought to be the Watchers, or most likely, the Watchers children.  The word "Nephilim" comes from the root word, "fallen ones," but in a violent, unnatural way, even so far as to mean "aborted ones," "bully," "tyrant," and "untimely birth."  So we can see where the Human race around this time considered them vile, nasty beings who should never have been born.

I personally feel this is the correct definition of the word Nephilim (although I believed Theory Two at first).

The Nephilim are the newest class of angels.  They are those angels that fell with Satan in the first fall of angels, the 1/3 of Heaven that was cast down.   Many of these were already present on the Earth at the time of the Watchers descent to "help" mankind.  Realizing this would only further their cause, the Nephilim readily agreed to help the Watchers any way possible.

Who are the Grigori?

The Children of the Watchers are identified by two terms, Giants and Monsters. 

The Giants are humanlike beings who are of course, Giants.  Famous for their superior intelligence, stamina and strength.  They have been equated with the Titans of Mythology and Hero's such as Hercules.

The Monsters are the children of the Watchers and of the 200 animal species with which they mated.  Each offspring produced was unique unto itself.  Whether the Watcher's genetically manipulated their children while still in the womb (or perhaps egg), or if they just let their superhuman sperm work its magic alone, is unknown.  Perhaps this was done to bring mankind to a brotherhood with the animal kingdom?  Or, perhaps a more sinister reason.  Either way, the Grigori (a.k.a. Nephilim, etc.) were formidable and deadly in the extreme.  They are sometimes equated  with the Egyptian Gods, such as Bast (a goddess with the head of the Cat), etc.

The Watchers taught their superhuman children the "Secrets of Heaven", such as magic, spells, herb crafts, astrology, etc. The Holy Watchers still in Heaven were outraged at what their brothers had done in revealing the Heavenly secrets. They also heard the cries of the Earth, as it was forced to witness the destruction of Man, Animals and all life that the Grigori could devour.

As long as they had physical bodies (i.e., as long as they were physically alive), the Grigori were tormented with the pain of a constant, unending physical hunger.  Because of their great destructiveness, El was good enough to rain Manna down on the Earth on a daily schedule.  However, the Grigori especially desired and lusted for living, (preferably human) flesh and had an enormous love of blood.  No matter how much they killed and ate, their hunger was never satisfied.

This is conjecture on my part, but my feeling is that they were never satisfied from hunger because of their hybrid nature (1/2 Earthly - 1/2 Spirit Creature), since their Spiritual side was never fed, since El had no desire to accept these unwelcome offspring of the Watchers.  They were considered no part of his Creation Scheme and therefore outside of his help, and they would not be able to take advantage of any redemption plan.

They were also known as the Anak, Anakim, Anunnaki, Avim, Emim, Gibborim, Giants, Grigori, Horim, Monsters, Nephilim, Neteru, Repha'im, Rephaim, Rafa, Urshu, Zuzim, Zophim, and Zamzummims.

How long were they on the Earth . . . ?

The angels associated with Satanel were already on the Earth when man was placed in Eden. The Watchers came 'during the days of Jared', i.e. 3,040 B.C.E.  How long they remained probably varied with the individual angels, but the Watchers were collected and placed into their "prisons" before the great flood of Noah.  

However, before their imprisonment, they were all forced to watch the destruction of their children.  God had placed a curse upon the Grigori that caused them to kill and devour one another, many others were destroyed by the Holy Watchers.  But, during the Flood, the "rafa" were said to "writhe beneath the waves," suggesting that some suffered horribly while the Earth was covered by the Flood, but still managed to survive and recreate the race "and afterward," although it seems as though only the Giants were reproduced in the Land of Canaan and nearby lands.  King David nearly wiped them out in his time.
