BACKGROUND:

Shaleen's mother was the mortal daughter of a demi-god and a real god. Her father was a genetically modified superhuman. Upon her conception the fertilised egg was taken away and meddled with by the god of the god that sired her mother, and then replaced. This caused a certain undeniable skew in her genetic makeup.

When she was born, she possessed certain unique abilities. Her mind grew and developed at four times the natural rate, and her body twice as fast. On her first birthday, the space station where she was living with her parents and their friends was torn apart by a temporal rift, and she was hurled (although safely) onto Earth in the year 2021. She grew up in a technically advanced but morally unsound society (commonly referred to as Cyberpunk), being raised by a Tech who found her incredible growth rate fascinating.

Soon after her seventh birthday, her parents found her with the aid of a time machine, and they set off on a series of 'adventures'. When she was thirteen, she was dropped off on Earth in 1993 with orders to prevent the Cyberpunk reality she grew up in from ever happening.

Her first step towards this goal was the establishment of the company that is known only as TST. When she is asked what the letters stand for, Shaleen interchanges between ‘It came to me in a dream’ and ‘It’s a secret’. In fact, the name was arbitrarily given to her by the god, and he was having a bad day at the time. Her first, and most embarrasing, incident in Swindon was the accidental destruction of the Vampire Prince, Waters, and the complete erosion of the Kindred power base here. She did not fully understand the Kindred when she first came here, and knew only that they were a barrier to her goals. Since then, she has changed her mind; she feels that the Kindred are an essential part of the world and that they should, instead of being destroyed, be brought to Golconda or neutralised in some other way.

She was tentatively accepted by the Garou of the area, mainly for her slaying of Waters, who had oppressed the Werewolves ruthlessly for centuries. Mrs Culdroon, the head of both the local Septs, allowed her to undergo a Rite of Investiture and become an honourary member of the Garou race and a infolk.

SPECIAL ABILITIES:

Shaleen, because of her alien origin, is possessed of certain unusual abilities not seen in any other Ananasi. In her Homid form, she lacks any body hair whatsoever except for that on her head. The hair on her head seems to reform during her sleep in the manner of Kindred, and also seems to occasionally re-style itself during the day. It will always stay where it is put, and seems to have a deep understading of drama.

Shaleen’s body produces extremely powerful pheromones, which make her instantly attractive to the opposite sex. Women too, are attracted to her in a charismatic sense. She does not sweat, her body seems to redistribute energy with extreme efficiency. Her blood requirement is the same as any other Ananasi, but she also needs a mortal’s food intake to survive.

Lastly, her lips are jet black. Nobody knows this; even her secretary and friend Alison thinks that she wears lipstick all the time, but in fact it is her natural skin colour. Just another ‘little joke’ from the god who caused this mess in the first place.

As a peculiarity rather than an ability, Shaleen has great difficulty interacting with the Garou spirit world. The Umbra is painful and disorienting for her to experience, and she cannot Step Sideways without assistance from another. In general she prefers to stay on the Earthly plane.

APPEARANCE:

An astonishingly gorgeous young woman, with straight black hair and sharp green eyes. She moves with a quick, easy grace (cliche city, but you get the picture). She currently favours black trousers, a white shirt and her trenchcoat. Her outfits are always empowered with the Garou Rite of Dedication.

In her Lilian (half-spider) form, she has several different appearances, often changing by mood. Sometimes she appears as a hairy version of her Homid form, other times she is smooth-skinned and either ebony or ivory. She is currently experimenting with growing extra arms in her full Homid form, and also manifesting a stable spider-centaur form.

In her Pithus form she either appears as a gigantic, hairy black tarantula or a smooth Latrodectus-like spider. This continues in her Crawlerlings form, each of which appears very similar but miniscule.

STUFF:

Shaleen maintains, in addition to the vast resources provided by her company, several distinct personal items.

Shaleen's Trenchcoat: this is a Fetish item with two separate spirits bound into it, one spirit of storage and one spirit of protection. The storage spirit allows the inside pockets of the trenchcoat to hold an almost unlimited number of items. These items can be retrieved simply by intending to take them out, and the two pockets access a single store. The protection spirit has no offensive capabilities, but makes the trenchcoat almost invulnerable to weapons fire, totally invulnerable (the coat, not the wearer; anything it does not protect against tends to pass through it) and stops other spirits from stealing items from the storage spirit.
Shaleen’s Mobile Phone: another Fetish, this small cellphone has a fairly substantial Netspider bound into it, and as such is capable of tapping into any conceivable data network, and transmitting and receiving information. The Netspider has command over a certain number of other Weaver spirits, which can be dispatched on message or retrieval errands. This item was created by a Glasswalker agent working for TST. Part of its dedication process involved making an Oath to the Weaver that no more such items would be made, as the chaos they can cause disrupts the Umbral Web.
Shaleen’s Credit Card: this item also has a Netspider bound into it, though far less powerful than the last. The spirit exists solely for the purpose of hacking into Cash Mashines, though recently it has begun to show talent in the area of card-based security systems. Shaleen has little use for this Fetish, but it can be useful on the occasions she finds herself stranded away from her other resources.
Sha’vha’rennich’quorm’tuum: this Fetish is a gauntlet, worn on the left arm, which gives the wearer limited, but widespread, mental control over dragons and insects. This item was not made for Shaleen as the others were, but recovered from Zimbabwe during a TST Expedition. It only grants power over True Dragons, not the Wormthane or Earth-Banes masquerading as dragons.

EMPLOYEES:

The higher-ups in the TST organisation are Shaleen's closest friends.

Alison Mor: a true Ananasi who, upon her Change, ate her brutal father and escaped into Werespider society. She hid for a long time in Swindon, but when Shaleen arrived and slew the Prince, got a job as Shaleen's secretary.
Jane Chandler: a human who once operated as Prince Waters' ghoul bodyguard. She fought fanatically to prevent the Prince dying, but on the vampire's death realised that her love for him had purely been a result of the blood bond he held over her. Now she works as the overall but rankless head of the TST Military Forces, including the Special Agent Service, the Strike Teams, the standing army (currently otherwise engaged in South America) and any other half-baked organisations Shaleen decides to put together.
Carol Schlegel: head of the Building Security, the only fighting force outside Jane's remit, Carol rose to the position through the unexpected achievements she made when applying. Before that, she had been a typist. She is a curmudgeon and a defeatist, and believes that eventually she will have to take over from Shaleen as the company managing director. She will not push, but is making damn sure she is ready when it happens.
