The Commander of the Chapter is the Dominus Magister Draco, and the Marine who holds this post is also one of the three Masters of Karos. The Dominus Magister Draco is assisted in his duties by three Lieutenant Commanders, who are often dispatched during battle to lead large forces where the Master cannot attend himself. They are also often used in diplomatic functions.
The Saurus Legion has ten infantry companies, each consisting of about 100 men each and two armoured companies, including a large variety of tanks and other vehicles.
The infantry companies are able to field, in addition to standard squads, Bikes, Attack Bikes and Land Speeders by mounting their squad members. The Tactical companies in particular adopt this approach. Every squad of each company has its own Rhino APC, with the exception of Terminator and Scout squads. Terminator squads are each transported in a Land Raider, and Scout squads walk.
Each company can also draw upon a small selection of vehicles which are permanently attached, and a larger number supplied by the armour companies. Each company also includes a couple of Thunderhawk gunships. Most of the companies also have a few Support weapons (Rapiers, Tarantulas, Thudd Guns and Mole Mortars).
The armoured companies consist of an assortment of Land Raiders, Attack Bikes, Razorbacks, Whirlwinds, Vindicators and Predators. and a couple of Thunderhawk Gunships.
Each Company is lead by a single Captain, whose job it is to command the entire company both in and out of battle (for example, in the inter-company basketball tournament, the Captain is expected to coach his team). The Captain is assisted by three Lieutenants, who are given lesser roles (sub-commanders, or assistant coaches for example).
Every Company includes a single Chaplain, Medic, Techmarine, Battle Standard Bearer and Librarian, who are permanently attached. If this Marine is killed, the post will be filled with a new member of the appropriate auxiliary section, preferably one who served with the company before special selection.
Finally, a Marine who is near death and is put in a Dreadnought suit will remain with his company. Therefore, every company has up to a dozen Dreadnoughts, and they tend to be armed appropriately.
And then there is the thirteenth company.
What is now the thirteenth company was once the 6th company, but over four thousand years ago they, well, sort of went chaotic. They can occasionally be found in the Citadel, but often they can never be found at all. Only Dungard knows where they are at all times, and hes keeping quiet about it. They show up on occasion to put the boot in, and fiercely deny that they have anything to do with the Legion of the Damned.
Like all Chapters, some Marines belong to one of the auxiliary companies who are identified by name, not number, and have their own sections of the Citadel.
The Saurus Legion is only one part of the Sardkaon organisation known as the Petty Imperium (PI for short or three-point-one-four-one-five-nine-two-six-five-four for long). This organisation functions something like a small, self-contained Imperium. It has its own Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Squats, Abhumans, Assassins, Preachers, Navigators, Officials, and in fact everything that the real Imperium has, but on a much smaller (and less religiously devout) scale. The Petty Imperium is in fact one of its members closest-kept secrets, because if any of the real Imperials found out that they were mickey-taking this much, the Sardkaon would have a major war on its multi-racial hands.
The forces of the PI frequently fight side-by-side, even against other factions of the whole.
