My Comments
Well, as the book cover says, this is an early tale of the Sipstrassi stones. It is heavily based on the Arthurian legend, with a lovely little twist. Anything you think you know about the myth, forget it! This will blow your socks off!
The story is a fabulous mix of sword and sorcery. Gemmell takes to the sword once again, and after reading the 'Drenai' stuff, you recognise some of his battle techniques. He obviously has a great love of the Roman battle orders, as they feature predominantly in this story, but unlike the 'Drenai' books, you're reading about Ancient Britain which in a way makes it more realistic.
I'm a big Arthur fan, yet this book appeals to more than a lot of other Arthurian style fantasy books do. It's well worth a read, and check out Culain!
