AAMANIAN ARCHIMAGE

As Aaman came to be, the church and government became one and the priests of Aa, the Archimages found themselves in control of a kingdom. They drifted away from preaching to the populace and now exist almost completely within the giant governmental bureaucracy that runs both the cult and state. They serve in all capacities, from the lowliest scribe to Monitors.

They have become experts in maneuvering throughout the miles of red tape, mana tallies and intricate levels of each department.

Young Archimages live in communal homes inside or near their place of work. Each houses 5-50 people and a complete Omnival.

AAMANIAN CURATE

As the Archimanges fell into the role of government they left a need for among the common people for guidance. This role fell to the Curates, a small group of devoted that had been the Archimages’.assistants.

They serve throughout Aaman as priests and teachers setting up local temples and schools in the poorer quarters. Missionary work calls many of them, and they can be found wandering alone or in groups preaching the word of Aa in every corner of the continent.

The Seminarium, their training school, overlooks the Azure Ocean just outside Aabaal.

Their role in Aamanian society is twofold; to many of the general populace they are the gentler face of the Orthodoxy cult, teacher instead of soldiers, but to the Archimages, they are still perceived to be assistants and their roll in the cult is sometimes not taken as seriously as it should.

AAMANIAN CENOBITE

Monastic orders are not uncommon in the Cult of Orthodoxy. Several cloisters and hermitages have been built in isolated corners of the Kingdom. Each with their own set of vows. Aamanians drawn to such a lifestyle are often severe individuals, but since time in a monastery does garner mana points there is a percentage of Warrior-Priests and others looking for a refuge against the outside world.

Time in a monastery is also sometimes a punishment for Archimages, Curates and Warrior-Priest who have committed some minor violations of Orthodoxy Law.

The Monastic Orders

Monocculites
Easily the oddest of the orders, it is located in a small abbey deep in the mountains to the north. Their vows, besides chastity and poverty include melting one eyelid shut under the brand of Aa. They wear coarse Gruffan robes and rarely wash. Most are thin, malnourished and half crazed from eating only provender plant and water.

Surprisingly, they are famous for their calligraphy and illustrations. Their beautiful renditions of the Omnival are found only the homes of the highest level Monitors and Aspirants.
Bonus Skills: Scribe, Art

The Sons and Daughters of Aa
Located in a sprawling compound deep in the Monastic hills, they are considered the most holy of orders. Every creature within the compound walls is an Albino.

Albinism is considered a sacred blessing from Aa, and whenever an albino child or animal is born it is taken from the parents or owner (recompensed with a sizable amount of mana) and placed under the care of the order. The joint compound, with the abbey at one end and the convent at the other, teems with animals from across the continent. A traveling menagerie is often found touring the kingdom, and has been well received in both Cymril and Dracarta whenever it travels to the missions there.

This is the only order that allows women. This is also the only order where marriages are permitted but unless the spouse is also an albino they, and any non-albino children must live outside the compound. A small number of well tended cottages circle the abbey.
Bonus Skills: Animal Handling, Sideshow Talents: trained animals.

Corypheusians
Is located is the huge Aabix abbey just outside Andurin on the coast of the Sea of Sorrow. This has become a priory school for the sons of rich Aspirants and a place of seclusion for those of the faithful who need a place to hide.

These monks are primarily scholars and teachers, but a small weather-beaten chapel sits apart from the main building. Inside are two rows of bare, cells, the only feature being a giant eye of Aa carved into one wall. Inside sit some of the faithful, draped only in a white cloth and submerged deep in prayer.
Bonus Skills: One Scholarly skill that can be related to Orthodoxy.

Flagellants
A severe order based in Alm that can be found wandering the roads of Aaman, beating themselves with ritual flails and chanting Cultist slogans. Their penance rituals are so severe that Inquisitors sometime study with them to train their skills. Aspirants who have committed grave sins against the cult are sometimes sent to join this order if they show proper remorse.
Bonus Skills Torture, Song

Mendicant
Members of this abbeyless order can be found in the city streets of nearly every sizable settlement West of Dracarta, with the exception of Zandu. In exchange for a lumen or silver they will quote passages from the Omnival.
