Note: This is not me taking cheap shots at certain areas of the world. I know that New York has as many faults as other places. I just want to point out to people that all the hype about New York being this "EVIL" state is highly exaggerated.
Facts: In the state of Florida, a female college honor student who had a full scholarship from UCLA had spent the weekend helping some friends move from one house to another. Since she offered to use her car to move some boxes with silverware in it, some of that silverware fell onto her back seat unbeknowest to her. Can you believe that during a routine glance at vehicles in the college parking lot that they spotted a butterknife in her back seat and arrested her? She was handcuffed and brought to jail for this! Now she has been denied graduation and expelled from her school for violating a concealed weapon rule from that campus.
Opinions: OK. I know I am going to get shit for this but, who's business is it what is in the back seat of your car? I understand that every campus has their rules for good reasons and I can see questioning what a knife is doing in your car, but a butterknife? Did they have to handcuff her in the middle of class for this? Couldn't they call her to the dean's office and ask her about it first(you know, a benefit of a doubt for an HONOR student)? Even if she would keep a butterknife as a weapon(a pathetic weapon at that), prove it!! In New York, this wouldn't even go to court, much less hold up in it.
Facts: In Florida, an eleven(I think) year old boy was escorted out of school in handcuffs for drawing pictures of guns. I don't know if he was arrested or just sited but either way he was cuffed and taken.
Opinions: Come on now! An 11 year old taken out with handcuffs? First off, what the hell kind of harm could drawing a picture of a gun cause? Does such a law exist in the state of Florida that makes it illegal to draw a weapon in school? Or is this some dumbasses' lack of good English language that thinks drawing a weapon can only mean sketching one? Even if this is a violation of school policy, couldn't they just send this kid to the principles office and given detention or something? Ridiculous! I wouldn't even allow my kid to go back to that school after that.
Facts: Remember Presidental Election 2000? Remember what happened to Florida regarding that?(no, I don't hate Florida. I just decided to start with them first. I love visiting Florida, but its getting pretty scary there now a days you know?)
Opinions: Directions:
Note: If you cannot follow these simple instructions then please do not vote!!
Facts: In Canada(suprised I didn't say Florida?) a young elementary school girl was either suspended or expelled for taking a chicken finger, pointing it at another student and saying the word "Bang!"
Opinions: Do I really have to say anything here? E-mail me if I do, and I will. Otherwise let's get to the next one.
Facts: Recently in Washington, a group of 12-14 year olds are on a field trip to the local prison. Not even part of a "Scared Straight" program. Apparently, strip searches were performed on these kids in front of imates as part of the tour! Naturally, the parents were outraged and people are in court at this time about the whole thing.
Opinions: Good God! What the hell is wrong with these people? I cannot even begin to imagine the outrage that these parents felt when learning about this. What the hell are 7th graders doing going to a prison for a field trip anyway?
Facts: In Washington state, if you date a woman ONCE you can be required to provide child support under law. Pretty lame, eh?
Opinions: So doesn't this make it easier to becoma a dead beat dad? All you have to do is dump the girl and as soon as she finds someone interested in her, BAMMM!!! some one else is responsible! Nice!
Facts: In Baltimore this January, an old lady was walking her dog in a K-Mart parking lot. Her dog picked up a foriegn object off of the ground and brought it back to her. It was a severed penis. Once the old lady figured out what it was she called the cops on her cell phone!
Opinions: Whoah! Can we say a Bobbit copy cat crime? I'm not sure what cracks me up more, that fact that a dog uncovered a severed winky or that grandma had a cell phone. This really is the 21st century isn't it?!?
Facts: In Milford PA, a man is suing Colgate-Palmolive because he thinks that finding a condom in his toothpaste dispenser led to his heart attack a year later. He claims that the incident brought up his blood pressure up over the course of several months. Read about it here.
Opinions: LOL!!! So finding the condom in the toothpaste itself is not enough to take them to court? He would have a better case! I guarantee that if I met this guy that I would find that he wasn't exactly a health nut! Come on, of all the things that can eventually lead to a bad heart in today's society, how do you prove that getting upset about a Prophylactic in your toothpaste give it to you a few months later? You can't make stuff up like this folks!
More to follow as I come up with them. Write in if you have questions, comments, stuff to add, etc.
