Roger Bochs was a paraplegic genius who was a member of the original Beta Flight team. Recruited by Hudson during the hayday of Department H he created the BOX robot with the help of Hudson and controlled it through a cybernetic helmet. When the entire Department was disbanded Bochs went on his way until he was approached by Delphine Courtney to join Omega Flight. Roger agreed to join but he had planned to subvert the group from the inside and foil their plans. Jerome Jaxxon, the power behind Omega Flight didn't trust Bochs however and took control of the robot himself during the all important battle with Guardian. Hudson defeated the robot though foiling Jaxxon's plans and actually killing him from the feedback when the robot was destroyed.
Months later Roger was still bitter over his being used and he wanted to get back at Courtney and Jaxxon so he contacted one of the old Gamma Flight members, Madison Jeffries, the metal transmutator. He and Jeffries designed a new and superior robot which Roger could phase into. Unfortunately for Roger this robot served as the perfect vessel to hold Walter Langowski's soul and so for awhile though a member of Alpha Flight was out of the action.
When Walt went to find a new body and was thought lost for good Roger reclaimed his body and things looked to be taking an upswing. He began a relationship with Alpha vixen Aurora much to the dismay of her brother. With the help of Jeffries brother Lionel, known as Scrambler, Roger was even able to have real legs again. Unfortunately the legs rotted away and Roger went quite mad. Lionel Jeffries and Roger then merged into a being known as Omega but when Roger regained a bit of his sanity and tried to resist Scramble lobotomized him. Madison Jeffries then destroyed the creature.
