Laura Dean first used her mutant powers before she was even born. Using her ability to open gates or paths between dimensions she managed to save her twin sister from being aborted and sent her to another dimension where she would be safe. As a child Laura was autistic and was sent eventually to Lionel Jeffries New Life Clinic for treatment. Jeffries however kept her for his own purposes though Laura escaped along with the rest of the Derangers when he was defeated. With the rest of the Derangers she ended up under the control of Bedlam who used her powers to summon Laura's feral and deadly sister Goblyn. When the Derangers and Bed;am were defeated Alpha took Laura under it's wing.
Admitted into Beta Flight it was believed that Laura and Goblyn were one and the same but this misconception was cleared up when the team ran into that wild woman of the night, the Dream Queen. When the team was disbanded (One of many times) after this misadventure Laura and a soon to be litter box trained Goblyn went to live with Kara, the Purple Girl.
The girls rejoined Beta Flight on the Quest for the wannabe elf Northstar and stayed with the team when they regained public funding from our beloved Canadian government. Unfortunately the really feral Wild Child managed to both Dean twins rather severely during one of his 'episodes'. Alpha Flight applied to become the official Guardians of the twins instead of their absentee parents. Currently both Laura and Goblyn are probably still with the Purple Girl and her mother.
