The story of the being known as Snowbird began fifteen years before the hayday of Alpha Flight. Her father a human man named Richard Easton was working on an archeological dig North of the Artcic Circle. He found there an ancient artifact but was told by the head archeologist to file it for further study. Being curious and driven by mystical forces Richard Easton put on the mystic headband and instantly found himself in the company of the ancient northern gods. He then shared his human seed with the godess Nelvana daughter of Hodiak. Easton found himself back at his dig but nine years later. Another year after that future Alpha member Michael Twoyoungmen also known as Shaman was drawn to a spot in the north. There he was the midwife to the birth of a godess. Binding the young spirit to this world Shaman takes the child already a year old. This young transmorph or shapeshifter is Narya, daughter of Nelvana later to be known as Snowbird. Raised by Shaman until both joined Alpha Flight.
While with Alpha Flight James Hudson set up a cover for her as an RCMP officer stationed up north named Anne McKenzie. Also during the hayday of Alpha she found out that her own teamate Sasquatch was one of the great beasts and so she proceeded to kill his coporeal form. As her alter ego the godling fell in love with a man named Doug Thompson whom she met through work and who loved her as well. When she informed the Inuit gods of her intentions they cast her out and she was considered mortal for a a period. When she became preganant she had Shaman with her to bind the child to the Earth just like her but the spot chosen was evil and the spirit of Pestilence entered the child and took over its body. While looking hor his child Doug Thompson was killed by Pestilence and in the battle that ensued Snowbird killed her child and Vindicator killed Snowbird. The Inuit god then made amend with Narya and the whole family was taken to live with them and be together forever.
Snowbirds body was used for a time a bit later by Walter Langkowski and she transformed it using her godling powers into an exact copy of Walt's original body. Now of course nobody ever stays dead in the Marvel Universe and yes Snowy has come back to coporeal form in an A.I.M. lab though why is anybodies guess. Perhaps something to do witgh the Great Beasts appearance in X-Man?
