Elizabeth Twoyoungmen is the daughter of everyone's favorite Medicene Man, Shaman. Living with her father and mother it looked like she would have a happy and uneventful life until her mother was diagnosed with cancer. Being promised by her father that he could save her mother she blamed him for her mother's death and even went to live with the neighbours, the McNeils, who raised her as one of their own. She went on to University and wished to become an archaeologist.
It was during an archaeological dig that Elizabeth uncovered a skull which contained mystical energies. She contacted her father knowing that he was Shaman of Alpha Flight despite the masking spell he used to disguise his identity. Shaman dismisses this recognition by Elizabeth because she has the blood of 40 generations of Sacree Shamans flowing through her veins. During the excitement it was revealed that Elizabeth was a foretold champion of good, the Talisamn a binder of spirits. She drew from Shaman's medicine pouch the coronet of enchantment and placed it on her brow. Her father forgot to warn her though that she wouldn't be able to take it off.
Her father's disregard for her welfare and safety became an increasing concern for Elizabeth. There came a point where Shaman had to try and save either Snowbird who he had raised or Elizabeth his natural daughter and he choose Snowbird. Talisman was saved by the Beyonder but her opion of her father was severly lowered and she left the team.
Revenge was what Elizabeth wanted and so when Snowbird was about to give birth she saw her opportunity. Shaman was searching for a suitable site to bind the child to the Earth so she influenced the spirits to lead her father to a place where an evil spirit was located. When the child was born the spirit of Pestilence possesed the child gaining its mystical powers. Elizabeth had planned to overpower the spirit and show her father how much more powerful she was but Pestilence proved to strong for her and ripped the circlet of power from her head. Shaman took the circlet and put it on becoming the new Talisman. Elizabeth returned to archaeology.
Over course Elizabeth was not allowed to carry on with her normal life and once again one of her archaeological digs went wrong. She uncovered an ancient cairn where she was contacted by the spirit of her old pal Snowbird. Snowbird warned her of the coming of the Dreamqueen and so Elizabeth hooked up with Alpha Flight yet again resuming the mantle of power as Talisman. The Dreamqueen was defeated in turn and then everything went nuts. After the Dreamqueen came Llan the Sorceror the ancient enemy of the Talisman who was seeking to open the Gateway of Night to let the evil hordes overrun the earth. Talisman countered this with the help of Doctor Strange by opening the Gateway of Day and so the two cancelled each other out.
During a battle with the Master of the World she tried to defeat the Remnant Men, genetically manipulated freaks, by filtering through all the magic in Shaman's medecine pouch. This feat left her nearly brain dead and it took her a long time to recover. Elizabeth joined the ranks of Beta Flight and remained there essentially till the break up of the team.
