Wolverine was found wild and feral by the a newly married couple known to Alpha Flight fans as Mac and Heather Hudson. Mac kinda shot him and so as responsible adults they were forced to nurse the wild man back to health. As luck would have it Mac was working for the Canadian government at the time looking for folks with super powers and Logan fit in rather nicely being groomed to lead the team that was being put together. After taking the first version of this team into the field though Wolverine didn't want to stick around and later went on to join some other less well known super hero group.
