September 2, 349
The next day dawns sunny with a slight breeze. Investigating the rest of the
ship, the two doors at the aft open into rooms that are mirror images. These
rooms are in shambles, with debris laying on the floor. The furniture in
here, beds and fine wooden tables, shows that they were the captain's and/or
the first mate's cabins.
Of the doors in the bow section, the two inner ones
reveal staircases going down 10' to rooms. These rooms look like crews
quarters as there are cots filling the rooms with overturned wooden chests.
The two outer doors open up onto what looked to be the mess room and the
galley. There are overturned tables and chairs, along with pots, pans,
plates, cutlery scattered all over the floor. Carefully searching, Tabrina
and Angus find some some salted meat, dried food, and fresh water.
The two men finally wake up. The first one looks around grogily and then
sees Tabrina and Angus. He asks "Who are you? What are you going to do to
us?" After introductions, reassuring the men that they were not from the
pirate ship, and that they are not going to harm them, Tabrina and Angus
start to ask them questions. "Who are you? Where are we? What ship is this?
Where was this ship going? How did we get here?" etc.
The first man begins to talk "My name is Thurston. and my shipmate here is
Bakis. We are on the SS Stalemate. We were on route from Kalaman to
Kendermore with merchandise to sell. We set out 7 days ago under good
weather. Today's date is September 3, 349. We heard stories about pirates
sailing the seas, but most people took the stories as just that, stories to
be enthralled by. I guess we have a different opinion of the stories now. We
must dock as soon as possible to get supplies for the journey back." He also
informs Tabrina and Angus that there are no lifeboats, as they wouldn't be
very effective out on the high seas.
The rest of the day passes with everyone trying to clean up the ship and set
sail for the nearest port. Thurston tells Angus and Tabrina "We should dock
at the first port of call in order to stock up on supplies before we sail
back. We could drop you off at the place."
After exchanging stories for awhile, everyone manages to scrounge some food
together and have dinner. They then go about cleaning up the ship and
getting things in working order. The rest of the day passes uneventful.
