ANSWERS
This story takes place about two years after "Yesterday's Enterprise."
Captain Picard is sitting in his chair on the bridge thinking about his next trip to the Holodeck and Dixon Hill when the ship docks at Starbase 711. Where they will be picking up some new crewmembers and supples. After six months of star mapping it will be good to just relax. Restless, Picad starts to stand up when Lt. Worf's voice interupted his thoughts.
"Captain, we have an incoming message from Commander Jan O'Dell at Starbase 711. It's a Prority One messsage, Captain." Worf says as he leans over his console with a hunger look on his face.
"Put her on the main viewer Lt." Picard order as he turns to face the main viewer as a frown cross his face.
On the main viewer an older female starfleet office is sitting behind her desk with a worried look on her face. "Captain, we have a small problem here, two escaped Romulan prisoners from a Romulan death camp have some how made their way here." O'Dell says as she looks down at her hands. She looks back up and continues, "One of them is a human male and the other is a Romulan female, they have barricaded themselves in one of our cargo bays."
"Why are calling us for about this small matter?" Picard answers as he takes a step towards the viewer.
"I have a small security staff of six young ensigns here and the male human is asking to speak with someone named Guinan on the Enterprise-D. You have someone by that name on your ship, if I remember credulity?"
Picard showing a look of shock on his face answers, "Yes, we have someone named Guinan on my ship."
"The male says his name is Paul Castillo and his father was Lt. Richard Castillo who was on the Enterprise-C." O'Dell says as she leans back with a tried look on her face.
Picard enters Ten Forward and looks around and sees Guinan busy wiping the bar with a rag, he quickly walks up to the bar where Guinan sees him and asks, "What can I get you captain?"
"I need to know if you ever know anyone on the Enterprise-C by the name of Lt. Richard Castillo?" Picard asks as he sits down on a chair at the bar.
Guinan smile leaves her face as she answers him, "Yes, I know him."
"His son has escaped from the romulans and he has barricade himself and a female Romulan at Starbase 711." Picard says as he takes a deep breath and adds, "He is asking too sees you."
Guinan turns and takes a steps away from Picard with a puzzled look on her face, she turns back to him and asks, "Why me?"
"I'm not sure." Picard answers as he looks towards the main window where he sees StarBasse 711 coming into view.
Picard and Guinan followed by Worf and some of his men who are armed with hand phasers, walk up to an older woman and two young ensigns who look a little scared. The woman smiles at the sign of Picard and his group and say, "Jean-luc its good to sees you again, is this Guinan?" She points at Guinan with a little smile.
"Yes, I'm Guinan, could you point me in the right direction?" Guinan answers her as she looks around O'Dell.
O'Dell turns and points into a room and says, "They are in the cargo room on the other side of that room. We have manage to clear must of the things they put in our way."
"Are they armed?" Worf asks as he moves up next to Picard.
"No, they are not armed, but everytime we try to get close to stun them, they throw thing at us!"
Guinan listen to all of this and then just walks into the room and walks up to the enters to the cargo bay door and says, "I'm Guinan you what to sees me?"
A young man wearing just rags holding the hand of a female Romulan, who is also wearing rags, that barely covers her body. The young man looks at her with wide eyes and says, "I'm Paul Castillo and this is Kith."
Guinan looks them both over and then looks at Paul and says, "You look a lot like your father. How is he?"
Paul looks down at the floor with a sad look on his face as he answers her, "He die about ten years ago." He looks around her at the other that have move closer and says, "Could we find somewhere to talk?"
"I'm sure the captain would like to hear what you have to say too?" Guinan says as she reaches out and takes Paul's hand.
A few minutes later they are all sitting in the captain's main conference room on board the Enterprise. Picard leans forwards and says, "Just how did you get here?"
Paul looks over at Kith and answers him, "We manager to get abound a tranport ship that was unloading at our prison." He looks around the room and continues, "We went without food for three days before the captain found us and help us to get here."
Guinan looks over at Kith and asks, "You have not said a word, does the cat have your tongue?"
Kith looks down at her hands and slowly raise one hand and wipes a tear off her face. Paul reaches over and puts his hand on top of her's and then looks at Guinan and answers her, "Her family spoke out about the way the Romulan government was doing things so they cut out their larynx to set a example to all those who would speak out."
Picard leans back and asks, "So why did you want to see Guinan for?" He turns his hand and looks at Guinan.
Paul takes a deep breath and answers; "I have to know if the crew of the Enterprise-C crew died for a good reason?" He looks right at Guinan and asks; "Does this time line feel right?"
A little smile comes over her face as she aswers him, "Yes."
Riker who has been sitting quitly nexts to Picard gives Paul a puzzled look as he asks, "Time line?"
Paul just nobs his head yes as he says, "All I know is what my father told me about how they were captured Romulns." Paul still holding Kith hand he leans back in his chair and closes his eyes as he continueds, "The Enterprise-C was in a fight with some Romualn war birds when it went pass throw a temporal rift, where they meet then warship Enerprise-D."
Picard sits up real fast as he almost shouts, "Warship!"
Paul nobs his head as he looks around the table and see everyones mouth open but Guinan's. "It was then that Guinan told Lt. Tasha Yar that she did not belong there and that she should be dead! Tasha Yar then join the crew of the Enterprise-C and went back into the rift to fight."
Picard turns and looks at Guinan and says, "Why did you not tell us about this?"
Guinan gives him a sad look and aswers him, "I did not think anything would come of it! It was not till you meet Sela that I know she had live throw the battle."
"Is their anyone alse left alive from the Enterprise-C?" Riker asks as he leans closer a little bit.
Pual shakes his head no as he says, "No, my mom was the last crew member left alive, but she die three years ago."
"So we have only your word that you are Richard Castillo son!" Riker says as he looks at Paul.
Paul jumps up and puts both hands on the table and looks right at Riker and almost shouts, "We ricks our live to get here, I know next to nother about life outside of a prison! But I will not go back to a prison either!"
"I believe you." Guinan answers him as she smiles up at him.
"Please sits down! We just find this so hard to believe is all." Picard says as he motions for him to sit back down.
Paul sits back down and takes hold of Kith hand again and then looks at Picard and says, "I'm sorry, it just that I'm use to fighting to get anything I ever wanted."
"Is there anything we can get for you now?" Picard asks as he looks at Paul with a little smile.
A big smile comes over Paul face as he looks at Kith and answers him; "I have always wanted to hear Kith speak."
"Let's sees what Dr. Crusher can do for her then." Picard answers as he stands up.
The next day Paul and Kith and standing in ten forward looking out at the stars holding hands as Crusher and Guinan are at the bar talking. "There was nothing I could do for her, the damage was just to bad for me to fix. But once we get to a bigger hospital, then maybe."
"Even if she never says a word again I think they both keep each other happy." Guinan answers as she picks up tray with two glasses and a bottle on it and heads towards Paul and Kith. When she gets up nexts to them she holds the tray out to them and says, "Here is something to drink."
Paul turns and takes the tray as a he asks, "What is to become of us?"
"That is up to you." Guinan answers as she too looks out at the stars.
