BASTARDS
A few years ago I mailed in a script for Deep Space nine, the story below is the script in story form.
TEASER
Lt. Dax is riding in a turbolift as it is going up as she is reading a data padd with a smile little smile on her face. When she hears Chief O'Brien, "Lt. Dax, you have a incoming message from the Symbiosis Commission." With a concerned looks she hits her communicator and answers him, "I'll take it at Ops, when I get there."
The turbolift stops and Dax get off and heads straight to the middle of Ops and looks at the main viewer and then looks at O'Brien and nods her head yes with as she turns to face a main viewer. The face of a very old Trill appears, Dax sits up a little straighter as she says, "Commission June what can I do for you? Or is something wrong with my family?"
June leans a little bit closer to the viewer as she answers her, "In a way there is, we have been told that the USS Nokomis is schedule to dock at Deep Space Nine today."
Dax looks off to the side at a console and then says, "Yes in about two hours."
June looks down at her hands as she says, "On board the Nokomis a host who was never trained to be a host!"
Dax's eyes getting a little bigger as she says, "How did this happen?"
"We are not sure, we have not yet got that report from Star Fleet yet." June answers as she looks Dax right in the eyes and says, "The new host name is Lt. Commander Scott Brown!"
Dax closes her eyes and says "Scotty, a host that cannot be right?"
"It's true and we want you to get him to come here to see if he would make a good host and if not, you now what must be done?" June answers with a sad look.
Dax nods her head yes as she asks, "How long has he had the symbiont?"
"Six months." June answers asks opens her eyes and says, "We now that you will do the right thing." The screen goes blank and Dax leans back in her chair and shakes her head no.
"Who is this Lt. Commander Brown?" O'Brien asks as he looks up from his station with a puzzle look on his face.
"Curzon oldest son." Dax answers as she grabs a console next to her to keep from falling down, she looks at O'Brien as she heads towards Captain Sisko office.
"Bloody hell if you asks me!" O'Brien says as he shakes his head no as he watches her walking up the steps towards Sisko office. He quietly says to himself, "Some home coming."
Captain Sisko is sitting in his office with Major Kira, Sisko is holding his baseball in his hand as Dax enters his office. He looks up at her and says, "Lt. have you heard how is coming to the our station?"
Dax looks at Sisko and says, "I just found out, it's not something I'm looking forward too."
Kira stands up and looks at Dax and says, "I'm looking forward to meeting the only Bajoran in Star fleet to make the rake of Captain."
Dax looks at Kira and then at Sisko with a confused look as she asks, "I'm sorry who are we talking about?"
"Kai Winn's daughter is the Captain of the Nokomis, who do you think we were talking about?" Sisko answers as he puts the baseball down on its holder.
Dax's puts her arms behind her back and answers him, "Lt. Commander Scott Brown."
A broad smile comes over Sisko's face as he says, "You mean I finally get to meet Scotty!"
A puzzle look comes over Kira's face as she asks, "Now it my turn to asks who is this Lt.?
Dax's looks down at the floor and answers her, "One of Curzon's sons."
A big smile comes over Kira's face as she says, "I would think that would make you happy to see one of his sons?"
Dax looks up at her and says, "His is an untrained host!"
Sisko jumps up and shouts, "How is that possible?"
"I have not received the report on it yet." Dax answers as she starts to turn to leave the room, but stops and says, "It's now my job to see if he gets to keep the symbiont!"
Kira grabs Dax's arm and says, "You are telling us that if he does not meet your standard, you will let them kill him?"
Dax's looks down at Kira's hand and answers her, "Yes." She looks at Sisko and says, "I do not look forward to this meeting, but I know what must be done as do you!"
ACT ONE
"After all these year I though I know you, but now I'm not sure?" Sisko says as he walks around his desk and sits on the front of it and looks at Dax with look of shock on his face.
"Benjamin we both know the rules on what it involved in what it takes to be a host. As you know we cannot let just everyone have a symbiont." Dax says as she makes a move to leave the office.
"So if it came down to it, you would let him die? Kira says as she shakes her head no and looks at Sisko. "That sound like cold blooded murder to me!"
Dax turns back to Kira and says, "I do not like it either, but we all have rules that we must live by!"
Before Kira can answers Dax, Sisko raises his arm and says, "Major I want you to make sure everything is ready for the arrive of the Nokomis."
Kira turns and leave the office but not before giving Dax a very mean look. Sisko motions for Dax to sit down as he says, "Alright old man, you have had to make a lot of hard decisions before, what wrong here." He sits down and picks up the baseball again and looks at it.
"Scotty and Curzon got alone as good as fire and water, he was always mad that Curzon never married his mother."
"Curzon was not the kind to settle down with just one woman." Sisko says as he tosses the ball to Dax.
Dax catches the ball and says, "The last time Curzon sew Scotty was at his wife's funeral and Curzon was falling down drunk!" She looks at Sisko and then tosses it back to Sisko.
Kira walks into Odo's office and sees him reading a data padd, with what you might call a smile on his face. He looks up and says, "Major, what can I do for you?"
"Kai Winn is coming to the station to visit her daughter." Kira says as she looks down at Odo with a frown on her face.
"Is something wrong Major?" Odo asks as he sets the data padd down and leans forward a little.
"I'm not sure, it's just that I have a feeling about this." Kira answers as she starts to turn to leave.
"Major I do not have your feel like you, but when Kai comes to the station, it's trouble." Odo answers as he picks up the data padd again.
"Scotty married this Romulan girl when he was only sixteen, she was only fifteen, Curzon tried to talk his out of it." Dax says as she sits down, with a sad look on her face.
"Where did he meet a Romulan girl?" Sisko asks as he puts his hand under his chin and leans back.
"Her family defected to years before she was born, Curzon did all he could to stop the marriage. She died a year later, give birth outside of a hospital on Mars named after Curzon." Dax answers as she looks down at her hands and says, "They would not let her in, because she was Romulan!"
Sisko gets up and walks around to her and puts his hands on her shoulder and asks, "Does he blame Curzon for her death?"
Dax just nods her head yes as she answers him, "Yes! He tired to keep track of them, but after two year he lost track of them and never saw them again!"
Quark is busy setting up more tables when Dr. Bashir walks in is almost knock over by some Ferengi's caring more tables. He spots Quark and walks over to him and asks, "What the hell is going on here?" As he waves his arm around the room.
Quark gives him a puzzled look as he asks, "Did they not tell you that Nokomis is coming here after ten years in deep space? Her captain is the Kai's daughter."
"I heard but that does not explain what you are doing here." Bashir answers him as he watches some Ferengi's sitting up another Dabo wheel.
"I just want to show them a good time, after ten year in space, this will be their first shore leave." Quark answers him with a big smile and wide eyes.
"I have read some of their reports about some of the places they have visit, some of he place make you place look like a church." Bashir states as he shakes he heads no and gets up to leave.
Quark reaches out and grabs his arm and asks, "What is a church?"
"It's a place people go to find out about god." Bashir answers him as starts to head towards the exited.
Quark raise his voice a little bit and says, "Doctor you can be so funny some days, when people leave one of me holosuites, I hear them praising god."
Bashir just shakes his head no as he says, "I'm sure you have."
"You should try one, I'll give you a deal." Quark shout as Bashir exits the bar.
"Not today Quark." Bashir answers as he just shake his head no some more.
Quark walks over to Rom and says, "Do you hire some more Dabo girls yet?"
"Yes brother, they will be here when we are ready to open later today." Rom answers Quark as he does some work on the Dabo wheel.
Quark looks around his bar as he says, "They will forget about all those other churches once they see my bar!"
Kira and Odo are standing next to an airlock, Kira does not look too happy as the airlock opens and Kai Winn walks out followed by another Bajoran. "Welcome to DS9." Kira says as she gives her a little bow.
Winn looks at Odo with a little smile and then at Kira and asks, "How soon before the Nokomis dock?"
"It will finish docking in just a few minutes." Kira answers as she looks at the man standing right behind the Kai.
Odo takes a small step closer to the Kai as he asks, "I cannot find anything on your daughter after she turned fourteen years old."
Winn smile up at Odo as she answers him, "My daughter left Bajor when she turned fourteen to study on Alogol two."
"You are right but, non of them went on to become Star Fleet Captain!" Odo states as he looks down at her.
Just then Sisko and Dax come walking up to them, Sisko is smile while Dax does not look to happen. Sisko looks at Winn and says, "The Nokomis has just finished docking at upper pylon three."
Winn gives both Sisko and Dax a little smile as she asks, "Have you come to meet my daughter too?"
Before Sisko can answers her, Dax says, "No we here to meet someone else."
"Curzon Dax son is also on the Nokomis too." Sisko says as he holds his hand out for them to go with him.
Winn looks at Dax and says, "Then you must be very proud of him then too?"
"Yes, I'm very proud of what his has done." Dax's answers her as she falls in next to Sisko as they start to walk together, with the other Bajoran right behind the Kai.
As they are walking throw the promenade, some of the Bajoran who are on the promenade come up to the Kai and she quietly talks to them. When they come to another airlock as it opens and a Lt. Commander with the spots of a Trill walks out followed by a Lt.. Sisko walks up to the Lt. Commander and sticks his hand out and says, "Lt. Commander, welcome to DS9, this is some of my staff, Major Kira, Constable Odo, Jadzia DAX and this is Kai Winn." He waves his hand at them as he says their names.
Dax's takes a step closer to him and sticks her hand out and says, "Scotty it's good to see you again."
Scott just looks at her hand and then says, "My name is Lt. Commander Scott Brown, not Scotty!"
Kai Winn steps up to him before anyone can say anything and asks, "Where is your captain?"
Scott gives her a hard long look as he says, "She is under our doctor's care, she will not be taking leave here."
Winn raise her hand to her face as she asks, "Is she ill?"
Scott gives her a little laugh as he answers her, "Some people would say yes, but she will be just fine in two weeks, so says our ship doctor."
Dax takes another towards Scott and grabs his arm as she says, "Lt. Commander I need to talk to you as soon as possible!"
Scott just looks down at her hand take it off his arm and say, "I need to talk too Constable Odo here before I have our little talk!"
"Lt. Commander could I sees my daughter on your ship, if she is not going to take a leave here?" Winn asks as she looks at the man behind her.
Scott turns towards the officer behind him and says, "Lt. Olson take these people too see the captain."
Olson steps to the side and holds out his hand for them to pass into the airlock, Kai is the first one to enter the airlock, followed by the Bajor man. Kira gives Sisko a quick look and then enters the airlock too.
Dax takes a deep breath and says, "When would be a good time for you to have our little take?"
Scott gives her another hard look and answers her, "When I have time!" He looks at Sisko and says, "I will be sending the crew over in shifts, so as not to over work your station."
Odo not liking the way things are going says, "Lt. Commander, my office is this way." He holds his right arm out to point the way.
Scott starts to walks away from Dax and Sisko, but not before he says, "I'm looking forward to our little talk, DADDY!" Leaving Dax looking down at the floor, with a sad look on her face.
Sisko watches them walking away and then turns to Dax and says, "Come on old man I will buy you a drink."
Olson leads the party to a door and pushes the door chimes and they hear a female voices says, "Come in."
When they enter the room they see a Bajoran woman sitting behind a table so all they can sees is her head because of all the things on the table in front of her, she is not wearing a ear ring. She looks up and with a shock look on her face as she says, MOTHER, what are you doing here?"
"Jan I have come to see you, does it surprise you that I want to sees my only daughter." Winn answers as she walks into the room with a big smile.
Jan throws her head back and give a loud laugh as she says, "You mean now you what to act like a mother!"
The Bajoran man behind Kai and Winn gives him a little smile as she looks at her daughter and says, "You remember Pat, the man who asks you to marry him when your were ten years old?"
Jan just looks at him and asks, "So what bring you to my ship, Pat?"
"So we can get married like we had planned." Pat answers as he takes a step closer to her.
"It would mean the joining of our two family." Winn says as she puts her arm on Pat's shoulder.
Kira's mouth drops open as she watches Jan very slowly stand up as she laughs real loud and they all see that she is very pregnant. Winn points at Jan as she asks, "Who did that to you?"
"Jan puts her hand on her stomach as she walks around the table and answers her, "My husband, who do you thing did?"
With wide eyes and a mad looks asks, "Who is he?"
ACT TWO
Odo sits down behind his desks as Scott sits down across from him, Odo looks at him and ask, "So what is it you want to tell only me?"
Scott gives him a little smile and then answers him, "We found more of your people on Draco one, a little over a four years ago."
Odo leans forward and says, "Did I Hear you right? You found some of my people? Where and how many?"
Scott gives him a little laugh, "You heard me right, we found three of them living on Draco one."
Odo looks him right in the eyes and asks, "Why are you telling me this for?"
"You are the closed shape-shifter and I thought you should now is all and so you do not feel so alone." Scott answers as he starts to get up to leave.
Odo stands up and says, "I have a few more question about them, please sit down.
Scott sits back down and answers him, "Asks away."
"How are they treated, are they happy, how long have they been there?" Odo asks as he sits down and leans back in his chair.
"They are treated very will if you asks me, they are teacher. They teach kids no one ease can teach, kids who need extra help. The people of Draco one love them a whole lot, anyone who tries to hurt them goes to jail. As for how long they have been there, they would not tell us." Scott answers him with a big smile now. He looks down at his hands and says, "You cannot tell anyone about them, they do not want anyone coming to take them away from the jobs."
"I understand." Odo answers as he stands up and sticks his hand out for Scott to shake it and he does.
Jan is sitting on the front of her desk as she looks at everyone else who are sitting in front of her, she has a big smile on her face as she is saying, and "I married the man who was my third officer."
Kira looks up at her with a puzzled look as she asks, "WAS?"
Winn gives her a little smile as she asks, "You mean he is dead, then?"
Jan gives them a little laugh as she answers them, "No he is still alive, we have lost a lot of my crew these last ten years, my husband is now my first officer."
"Lt. Commander Scott Brown?" Kira asks as she gives Winn and Pat a quick look "Then you have meet him already?" Jan asks as she stands up and moves towards Kira. "I order him to meet with your Constable Odo."
"Yes we have, can you tell us why he needed to see him for." Kira asks as she stands up with a puzzle look on her face.
"Yes I can, we found more of Odo people, but I cannot tell you where." Jan answers as she moves back behind her desk and sits down again, with a tried look on her face. "They do want anyone but your Constable to know about them."
Quark is standing behind his bar watches all the Star Fleet officer sitting around his bar drinking as he watches Bashir walk into his bar and walks up to the bar. Bashir sits down and looks around bar and says, "Looks like you are making a good profit today."
"Profit, you have to be kidding, all their doing is drinking! They have not token one turn of the Dabo wheel or used on holosute yet." Quark answers him as pours Bashir a drink.
Rom walks over to them and says, "Brother some of the officer are getting bored and are going back to their ship."
"How can they be bored they have not tried the Dabo wheel or any of the holosuites programs yet!" Quark says as he picks up a rag and throws it down.
"They said the game of Dabo is a boring games and the holosuites are too tame for them." Rom says as he turns and watches some of them start to leave the bar. "What are we going to do brother?" Rom asks as he looks at Quark with his mouth open.
Quark takes a few steps then stop and turns and looks at Rom and Bashir with wide eyes as he shouts, "Listen up everyone...If you all come back in three hours we will be holding a big poker tournament, with winner take all!"
There is a loud cheer as almost all of the officer jump and cheer real loud as they head towards the exit. Bashir looks at Quark and asks, "Is the game going to be open to everyone?"
"Yes, even you are welcome" Quark answers him as he looks at Rom and says, "We are going to need more tables."
"Yes brother." Rom answers as walks over to some other Ferengi's and talks to them and they head towards the back room. Rom walks backs to Quark as Bashir is walking out of the bar.
Rom looks at Quark and asks, "How are we going to make anything if the winning is going to get everything?"
"Because I'm going to be the winner!" Quark answers as his eyes get a little bit bigger.
"How are you going to make sure that you are the winner?" Rom asks as he looks around the room as other Ferengi are sitting up more tables.
"Because I'm going to cheat!" Quark answers as he turns and head toward the back of the bar and takes out a deck of card and looks at back of them and says, "King, nine, ace." As he turns them over one at a time with a smile on his face.
Scott is starting to stand up as Odo says, I look forward to reading your report on my people. I find it hard to interesting that some of my people are teachers.
"You should have seen the list of parents who want the shapeshifters to teach their kids." Scott says as he turns to head towards the door, but stop and turns back and asks, "Tell me about Lt. Dax... does she have any boyfriends?
Odo leans forward and says, "I'm not sure, but she does spend too much time with a Ferengi named Quark, then there is Lt. Worf." But then I do not get involved in other people love life."
A smile slowly comes over Scott's face as he says, "A Ferengi you say, that is very interesting This Lt. Worf, he wound not happen to be a Klingon now would he?"
"Yes he is." Odo answers with a little smile.
"Who is this Quark? Scott asks.
"Quark runs the local gambling establishment, Lt. Dax like to gamble." Odo says as a frown come over his face as he says, "She win more then she loss."
"Then she must be a lot like my father, may he rot in hell. He love to gamble too." Scott says as laughs a little.
"Who about you, do you like to gamble?" Odo asks as he leans back in his chair.
"I 'm the best on the Nokomis, I never loss big." Scott answers as he walks out of Odo's office.
"He must be a lot like his father too." Odo says quietly to himself as he puts his hand under his chin thinking. "His must be a little bit like his father too."
Kira keeping her eyes on both Win and Pat listen as Winn is saying, "I do not understand how you could marry someone after you had promise someone else. Especially someone who is not Bajoran?" Winn says as she gives Jan a sad look.
Jan rocks back and gives a loud laugh as she says, "Love works in strange ways, I was not looking for love when it came my way." She gets up and walks back behind her table and sits back down and says, "There is on law that I know of that says I must marry a Bajoran!"
Kira not liking the way things are going asks, "How did he get the symbiont, after I though he did not like host?"
Jan puts her hands on the table and looks at them as she sadly answers her, "My first officer was a Trill host, she was killed on a ways mission. When on one voluntary to take the symbiont, Scott step forward to save it." She leans back with a little smile on her face she says, "Once you get use to his cold hand, he is still the man I fell in love with."
Pat how had being sitting there shaking his head no, jumps up and shouts, "Those Trill host are evil, they are going against the normal way people are met to live!"
Winn stands up next to Pat and says, "He is right my child."
Jan slowly puts her hands on the table and raises herself up and points at Pat and Winn and says, "Get off my ship this minute!" With hate in her eyes. She looks at Kira and says, "You can stay, I have a few question for you."
Winn taking Pat's hand says, "We will talk later once you have calmed down." They exit the room without looking at Kira.
Kira who had stood up while Winn and Pat were leaving the room turns and looks at Jan who is holding a hand too her stomach and asks, "Are you alright?"
Jan just smiles and answers her, "She just like to kick, please sit down and tell me about Bajor now that she is free?"
Kira sits down slowly and sadly says, "We are slowly learning to govern our selves, but we are having some problems."
Jan looks down at her hands again and says, I was afraid that would happen, once I heard the Cardassians had left."
Kira looks at her and asks, "Can I asks you one question if its not too much trouble?"
"You can asks but that does not mean I will answer them for you." Jan answers as she smiles at Kira.
Kira looks towards the door and then back at Jan and says, "Do you like your mother? You did look to happy to see her?"
Jan throws her head back and laughs real loud, she looks at Kira and answers her, "I did not know who my mother was till I was thirteen. My father raised me, I'm her bastard daughter." She gets up and walks around tills she is next to Kira and sits down and says, "My mother would never have anything to do with me, even after my father was killed by the Cardassians. She was always planning to become someone and she was always saying I would get in the way!"
"That sounds like the Kai I know! Kira answer her with a little smile.
Scott is riding the turbolift up, it stops at Ops and he gets off and slowly walks on to Ops. He looks around and sees O'Brien and asks, "Have you seen a Lt. Dax around."
O'Brien looks down at him and then looks towards Sisko Office and says, "She in there." As he motions with his head towards Sisko office.
Scott takes a deep breath and slowly walks towards his Sisko office and walks up the stairs and when the doors open he walks in. He sees Dax looking out into space and he says, "So Daddy what do you what to talk about?"
"Curzon is dead, I may have his memories, but I'm not him." Dax answers without turn around. "So don't make this any harder then it is."
Scott smiles and sits down and says, "At least you are easier to look at then he was." He gives her a little laugh as he says, "So what do you want to talk about?"
Dax turns around with a sad look on her face as she sits down and with her hands folded in front of her says, "I have been ask to ask you to go to the Trill home world to see if you are fit to have the symbiont."
Scott leans back in his chair and gives her a little laugh as he answers her, "And if I'm not fit to keep the symbiont, then what?"
Looking down at her hands she answers him, "They will give it to someone one who is!"
For a few seconds he just stares at her and then slowly stands up and moves up to the desks and puts both of his hands on it and says, "You mean kill me!"
Dax leans forwards till she is inches from him and answers him, "We as host, have rules we must live by, as you should know by now."
"What do I tell my daughter and my new wife?" Scott as he move a little closer as he asks her, "Or have you forgotten about Jill?"
Dax closes her eyes as she says, "No I have not forgotten about her." She leans back and asks, "How long have you been married?"
Scott sits back down with a big smile as he answers her, "Three years now, she my captain. In two weeks she going to have our child."
Dax's eyes gets a little bit big as she asks, "You are a little old to becoming a father again?"
"That is just what I told her when she told me the news, she was as shock as I was about it, but the crew loves it." Scott answers as he starts to laugh and a tear starts to role down his face. He looks down at his hands and then back at Dax and says, "You did not answers my question about Jill?"
"Yes I remember her, Curzon could never forget the way her mother died." Dax answers him with a sad look on her face.
Scott gets up and walks over to the window and looks out as he says, "Two years ago she sent me a subspace transmit that she told me that she had been turn down by Star Fleet Medical school for the second time."
"Is it because she is part Romulan? Dax asks as she turns and looks up at him.
"I plan on finding that out when I get back, it's all she has ever want to do." Scott answers her as turns and looks at her. "But first we are going too do something real big."
Dax gets up and move a little bit closer to him and asks, "What is that?"
A little smile across his face as he says, "She also said she was going to get married the day we got back."
Dax stands up and says, "Let me find out why she was turns down for Star Fleet Medical if you will think about going to the Trill home world."
Looking down at the floor Scott turns and looks up at her and answers her, "I will have to talk it over with my wife before I make any decision."
Dax watches as he walks out of the office as she says to herself, "I never mean to hurt your Scott."
ACT THREE
As Scott is walking down the stairs, Sisko is riding the turbolift up to ops and he sees Scott and says, "I'm glad I get to finely get to meet you." He holds his hand out to Scott, but Scott just walks right by him onto the turbolift.
Sisko turns and looks up at Dax who has a sad look on her face, she walks down the stairs and up to Sisko and says, "He has a lot to think about."
"You looks like you need someone to talk too to?" Sisko says as he walks up towards his office.
Dax puts her hands behind her back and follows him up into his office and watches him sit down behind his desk, she sits down and looks at him as she says, "I'm worried about him."
"Is he going to go to the Trill home world for training on being a host?" Sisko asks with a sad look on his face.
"He has not decided yet, he need to talk it over with his wife first. Star Fleet my have to order him too go." Dax answers with a sad look, as she looks down at her hands.
Sisko pickup his baseball and looks at it as he says "He sounds as bull headed as a old man I once know." He puts the ball back down and says, "Maybe I should talk to him?"
Dax smiles as she answers him, "Curzon was bull headed not stubborn as Scott is. If you do talk to him, be careful he is full of hate, when it comes to anything that has to do with Curzon. Curzon love that boy, it's just that he did not know how to show it, host do not make good parents."
Sisko leans forwards a little bit as he answers her, "I do not believe that for one minute, old man."
Kira is standing next to an airlock as Jan says, "My doctor has given me order not to leave the ship, but I need to get some exercise. Once around the Promenade, would just be able right.
Kira takes her by the arm as she says, "Let me be your guide then." They both walk onto the Promenade and Kira say, "A lot has change sense you were home last."
Jan looks around with a big smile as they walks and say, "You can says that again, just look at all of these shops."
Dax stands up and starts to head towards the doors as she says, "It's just that kids are different every generations. No matter how many kids we have as host it's different every time."
Sisko stands up too as he answers her, "Boy do I understand that, all I have too is look at Jake and I see how different he is then I was at his age." He walks around till he is standing next to her and says, "If you want I will have a talk with him?"
Dax nods her head yes as she tells him, "In the mean time I have to make a call to a old friend at Star Fleet medical school about Scott's daughter."
Sisko looks at her and says, "You never told me he had a daughter before?"
Dax nods her head yes again and answers him, "Her mother died just outside of a hospital named after Curzon! She was Romulan and they would not let her in to give birth because she was Romulan."
Sisko puts his hand on her shoulder and says, "That must have been hard on Scott?"
"Curzon and Scott never spoke after that day!" She heads out of his office as a tear rolls down her chin.
Kira and Jan are standing on the upper Promenade looking down at the people as they are walking. "The first time I came here the Cardassians were still in charge, it was not a place to write home about." Kira says with a frown as if remember back to then.
"Those were dark times for all of Bajor, I'm so glad I got away from Bajor when I did." Jan tells Kira as she puts a hand on her stomach, "My mother did not like the Idea that I wanted to leave."
Kira gives her a puzzled look as she says, "I was told you left Bajor to go to school?" As they head toward a turbolift to ride it down to the lower level.
"I can guess what she has said about me, she had big plans even back then in the dark days. But I could not stand her to even be in the same room with her." Jan answers as they walk onto the lower level.
Kira gives her a little laugh as she says, "I know what you mean by that, some days I felt the same way about my parents."
As they walks by one of the shops, Jan stops and picks something up and then puts it back and looks at Kira with a sad look and asks, "Would you like to know why I hate her so much?"
Kira looks at her as they start to walks again as if thinking it over and then answers her, "Yes I would."
"One day just after my fourteen birthday I was on my way to see my mother when I was stop and raped by two drunken Cardassians! When I finally got to her, all she says to me was go home and put some clean clothes on before anyone sew me looking like that!" She looks down at the floor and says, "She never asks how I got looking like that, she was just too busy for me as always."
"Did you ever tell what happen to you?" Kira asks with a hurt look in her eyes.
"No, I left as soon as I could after that, she did not even now I was gone for close to a month." Jan answers she as puts a hand on her stomach and says, "This baby she like to kick."
Scott is standing looking out at window on the upper Promenade with his hands behind his back, when Sisko slowly walks up to him and stands next to him. Sisko puts his own hands behind his back as he says, "When the worm hole open you can see it from right here. Non are going throw today, there is one going throw tomorrow."
Scott turns and looks at him as he asks, "Did my father send you to talk to me about going to the Trill on world?"
Still staring at out the window Sisko answers him, "I have know Dax when it was still Curzon Dax and I do not like the way you are treating her!"
Scott turns back to the window and says, "Then you must have know my father better then I know him, he was a stranger to me."
Sisko turns and smiles at him as he says, "We had some fun time together."
"He was always too busy for me, some days I would wait for him to come, but he was more interest in my mom then me."
"I would not says that, he was real excited when your toke first prize at that science fare when you were ten." Sisko answers him as he turns to face him.
Still looking out the window Scott answers him, with a frown on his face, "He was supposed to be there, he promise he would, instead his was with one of his female Klingon friend!"
He turns and starts to walks way from Sisko but Pat who had been slowly walking up to Scott raises a small Knife and shouts, "I'm going to kill you for what you did to Jan!" He has the look of a mad man on his face and runs at Scott.
Scott lets comes at him and when he gets close, Scott throws a fist into Pat stomach with his right hand, he then throws his left fist onto Pat's chin. Pat drops to the floor out cold.
Sisko walks over to Pat and looks down at him and then hits his communicator and says, "Security to Upper Promenade three." He looks over at Scott and sees that he is breathing hard with a mean look on his face.
Kira and Jan sees some Security officer running past them as they near Quark's, they both watch them as Kira say, "Something must have happen on the upper Promenade!"
Jan looks in at Quark's and asks, "Is this Quark's bar? I hear he is having a poker tournament today."
"If I know Quark, he will find some way to be the big winner." Kira says as she shakes her head no.
"My husband is the best poker player on my ship." Jan answers as she again puts her hand on her stomach with a worried look on her face.
"Lt. Dax like to gamble too, she wins almost all the time too." Kira says as she moves up next to Jan as she looks inside of Quark's. She looks at Jan and asks, "Is something wrong?"
"I think I had better be getting back to my ship." Jan answers her as she starts to move towards a turbolift.
Quark and Rom are sitting at different tables with their back to each other, both have large piles of chips in front of them.. Quark smiles as he rakes in a pile of chip as he says, "This must be my lucky day."
Rom looks over his shoulder as he says, "Same here brother, this is more fun then Dabo."
One of the Star Fleet officers sitting at Quark's table looks at his card and then slowly turns them over and looks at the back of them. He then shows it to the man next to him and then throws the cards down on the table and they both stand up and looks down at Quark with mean looks on their face.
Quark looks up at them and says, "Why you quitting so early?"
Jan puts both of her hands on her stomach as she turns and looks at Kira and says, "It's coming!" She drops to the floor and rolls over on to her back as she grabs her stomach in pain.
Kira knees down next as Quark comes flying out of his bar followed by Rom, as Quark is getting up he looks at Kira and shouts, "Major, you have got you have to help me, they are destroy my bar!"
Kira looks over at him and then back down at Jan and answers him, "I'm a little busy here Quark!"
Jan looks up at Kira with wide eyes and shouts, "The baby is coming right now!"
Quark quickly moves over to Kira and says, "Major this is not the place for her to have her baby, you have to stop them!" As he looks back towards his bar as a table comes flying out of his bar.
Kira grabs Quark by the shirt and answers him angrily, "Baby do not care where they are born!" She throws him away from her as Odo and some of his security officers are running up to the bar.
Odo sees Quark and walks over to him and asks, "What's going on here Quark?"
Quark looks at Odo and answers him, "They said I was cheating."
Odo looks back at the bar and says, "I will check this out and see for myself."
Rom who had move up next to Quark says, "I will get the cards brother."
Rom starts to run back to the bar but Odo grabs his arm and says, "I will get the cards if you do not mind!"
Kira looking down at Jan hits her communicator as she says, "Kira to Bashir."
"Yes major, what can I do for you?"
"I have a medical emergency on the Promenade by Quark's!" Kira says as she grabs Jan's hand, with wide eyes.
"It's coming right now!" Jan shouts as shout out in pain.
"Kira looks down at her and says, "No time doctor, emergency transport to the infirmary."" Kira puts both of her hands on Jan's hand as she feels them being transported to the infirmary.
Dr. Bashir watches as Kira and Jan are beaming into the infirmary, when they are done beaming in he help to get Jan up onto one of the tables and starts to run a medial tricorder over her.
Jan looks over at Kira with wide eyes and shouts, "I want my husband here!"
Bashir looks at Jan and then Kira and says, "He had better hurry, the baby is coming."
Kira hits her communicator and says, "Lt. commander Scott Brown report to the infirmary right away!"
They all hear, Scott answer her, "On my way."
Bashir looks straight at Kira and says, "He had better hurry or he will miss it."
Jan looks straight at Bashir and shouts, "I want my own doctor, I do not know this doctor!"
"Do not worry this will not be my first I have delivered." Bashir tells her as he leans down close to her with a big smile.
Just then Scott comes running into the infirmary, closely followed by Sisko. Scott moves up to Jan and takes her hand as he says, "I'm here my love." He then gives her hand a little kiss.
Jan smiles up at Scott and tells him, "Your going to be in command for a little while, I'm going to be a little busy for a few weeks."
"You could always bring the baby up to the bridge and keep her next to your sit, the crew would love it I think." Scott tells her as he turns and looks at Sisko and gives him a quick wink.
Jan gives him a big smile as she answers him, "You will do just about anything to get out of some work?"
Bashir looks at his tricorder and says, "It's time."
ACT FOUR
Lt. Dax is talking to a man on a viewer in her cabin, the man is wearing a Star Fleet Medical uniform. The man is smiling at Dax as he says, "Lt. you have been miss informed about Jill Brown, the reason she was did not get into Star Fleet Medical last years is that she was about to have twins."
Dax leans a little closer to the viewer and says, "Mike it looks like she may have not told her father the real reason she did not get in."
Mike laughs as he answers her, "It looks like she maybe playing one of her little jokes on her father, she has been married for close to two years now."
"Who is she married to if I may asks?" Dax asks as she leans back in her chair with a big smile.
Now Mike show her a big smile as he answers her, "To my youngest son, Joe, he in his last year at the Academy. You may find this hard to believe but they want to serve on her father ship!"
Dax just shake her head no as she says, "I think Scott is not going to believe this, when I tell him."
"Tell him that Jill is in the top ten in her class and let me know what he says." Mike tells her as smiles back at her.
"She must be real good then?" Dax answers him as he smile gets a little bit bigger.
Odo is walking around Quark's bar looking at all the damage done to it when he sees some card laying on the floor. He bends down and picks them up and slowly looks them over. He looks over towards the Bar where Quark is busy restock his bar. He walks up to the bar and show Quark the cards as he asks, "Are these card your?"
Quark stops putting bottle on the shelf's and looks down at the cards and says, "I have never seen them before. They must belong to one of the crew member of the Nokomis"
Odo give Quark a little smile as he says, "These card look like the same one you sell to your customer! And they are mark!"
Quark looks at little closer at the cards and answers him, "They must of mark they so they could cheat me."
From behind them a female Star Fleet officer wearing a Medial uniform, who does not look too happy walks up to the asks, "Who is in charge here?"
Quark's mouth drops open as he slowly looks her over from head to toe and back again as Odo turns around and answers her, "I'm in charge here. Who are you?"
"I'm the Chief Medical Officer Liz Johnson of the Nokomis! Where is my captain?" She looks right at Odo and says, "Well I do not have all day!"
"The last I sew of her, she was being beam to the infirmary." Odo answers her as he looks at Quark whose mouth is still open.
Quark shows her a big smile as he watches her looking around his bar, "Can I get you a drink? Doctor."
Liz turns back to Odo and Quark with a frown on her face as she answers Quark, "No, if I find she was hurt in here, there will be hell to pay!"
"She was never in here, you need to asks Major Kira why she was beam to the infirmary." Odo answers her as watches her turn and walk out of Quark's with a mad look on her face.
Quark leans on the bar as he says, "I think I'm in love."
Odo just shakes his head no as he says, "Give me a break. If I find you were cheating you will be in a lot of trouble."
Scott is standing next to Jan holder her hand with a smile on his face, Sisko and Kira are standing in the back smiling as they watch Jan and Scott arguing.
"Jim." Scott says.
"Peter." Jan answers say.
"Joe." Scott answers her.
"Peter." Jan says again.
"Mark." Scott answers her.
"Curzon. Jan answers with a little smile.
Scott stop as he is about to says another name and looks at Sisko and Kira and then back at Jan and says, "Peter, sounds good too me."
Sisko and Kira walk up to them as Kira says, "Why did you not pick a name earlier?"
Jan gets up on one of her elbow and looks at Kira and answers her, "We were hoping for a girl, we told the doctor not to tell us want I was going to have. We were hoping for a girl."
"I wish you had let me tell you earlier, but no you like surprises!" Liz says as she walks into the room. She grabs a scanner off a table and starts to run it over Jan as she says, "Next time I tell you something, you had better listen to me, Captain."
Jan throws her a little salute and answers her, "YES SIR!"
Bashir walks out of another room with a big smile on his face as he is saying, "My nurse will have your son clean up in just a few minutes." He stops in his tracks when he sees, Liz and asks, "Who are you?"
Without looking at Bashir Liz answers him, "I'm the her doctor, who are you?"
"I'm Doctor Bashir head doctor of Deep Space Nine." He answers her as he walks up to her and takes the scanner out of her hand.
Liz turns and gives Bashir a very mean look as she tells him, "I want my patient move to the Nokomis right now!"
Bashir gives her a little smile as he answers her, "Right now she is my patient and I will decide when she is going to be move back to the Nokomis!"
Both Sisko and Kira both share a little laugh as Sisko looks at Scott as he says, "I think I had better be getting back to Ops."
Both Sisko and Kira turn and head towards the exit, as Jan turns and looks at them and says, "Thanks Major."
Kira turns and gives her a big smiles as she answers her, "Take care of your son."
Once out in the hallway they meet Kai Winn who walks up to them and she looks at Kira and says, "I just heard that my daughter has had her baby?"
Both Sisko and Kira nod their heads yes as Kira says, "A boy."
Winn gives them a little smile as she asks, "Do you think she would let me talk to her?"
Sisko and Kira move off to the side as Sisko holds his hand out to let her go into the infirmary. "There is only one way to find out." Sisko says with a little smile.
Winn heads into the infirmary as she looks at them out of the corner of her eye. When she is inside of the infirmary she sees Scott giving Jan a kiss on the lips as she walks up to Jan and says, "I would like to talk to you my dear, if you do not mind?"
Jan just stares at Win for a few seconds and then says, "I do not feel like talking to you today, maybe tomorrow."
Liz comes out of the other room and puts her hands on her hips as she says, "I do not want my patient upset! If you do upset my patient I will call security."
"If you like you can see me tomorrow after I have gotten my strength back." Jan answers her as she smiles up at Scott.
"Then I will see you tomorrow then." Winn says as she turns to leave as she gives Scott a cold look.
Scott puts his hand on Jan's shoulder as he says, "I think I had better be going too, Lt. Dax has been asking to see me again."
Jan grabs his hand and says, "Go easy on her, she does not look anything like what you said your father looked like!"
Scott gives her a little laugh as he answers her, "You got that right." Scott smiles at her and walks out of the infirmary and almost walks into Dax who was walking into the infirmary.
Dax smiles at him as she says, "I was just coming to tell you what I have found out about your daughter."
Scott just looks at her and asks, "Did you find out why she did not get into Star Fleet medical?"
Dax reaches out and takes him by the arm and says, "I think you had better be sitting when I tell you what I have found out."
A frown comes over Scott's face as he lets her lead him to the replimat where they sit down and he says, "Let have it!"
"It looks like your daughter has inherited Curzon's sense of humor." Dax says as she leans back and with a big smile.
Scott shakes his head no as he asks, "What has she done this time?"
"You're a grandfather, is what she is up too, she had twins." Dax answers him as she leans forward and puts her hand on top of his and says, "She is in Star Fleet medical now, in the top ten in her class."
Scott looks towards the ceiling as he says, "I have been away far too long it looks like." He looks back at Dax and asks, "Is she married?"
Dax's pats his hand and she answers him, "Yes to a cadet at the Academy, his father is in charge of Star Fleet Medical School."
"How could I have been so blind as not to sees this, all her talk about going place with a friend and doing thing with a friend." Scott answers her as he shakes his head no a few times.
Dax gives him a little laugh as she says, "You will get use to it after second child, or the third one. Or do I have to paint you a picture?"
Scott shakes his head no as he says, "I guess I just forgot about all the child this symbiont has had. Everyone one was a little different."
"If you get to keep your Symbiont you will just have to get use to it." Dax answers him with a little smile.
Scott shakes his head yes as sticks his hand out as he says, "Let call a trace to our little war, father."
Dax takes his hand as she says, "Your father was never at war with you, he love you more then you think?" Dax leans back and asks, Why did you not take the name of your Symbiont?"
"There is no law that says I have to talk its name. She was our first officer and we did not get along very will." Scott answers her with a little laugh.
Dax too give him a little laugh as she says, "Boy do I know how you felt about us host."
With a very sad look on his face Scott looks down at his hands and says, "When Sue died, I could not let another life form die. So I volunteered to take it."
Dax puts her hands back on top of his as she asks, "Were their any other volunteers?"
Scott just shakes his head no as he answers her, "We did not have the time to asks for any, so I just volunteered." He wipes a tear off his face as he says, "She was in love with this young ensign who was also killed on the same way team, they were to be married when we got back."
"I have lost many love ones too, it is never easy." Dax says as she too wipes a tear off her face.
Scott looks up at her and says, "Three day before I got the symbiont Jan asks me to married her, right on the bridge."
"How does she feel about being married to a host?" Dax asks as she just smiles at him.
Scott just leans back and looks up as he says, "Once we solved the problem with the cold hands everything was just great." He give a slowly look around them as he says, "Our doctor made me these real thin gloves that I wear to bed, they are so thin that you cannot feel them on me."
Dax shakes her head no as she says, "She must not like your cold hands, I take it?" She looks at him and says, "I just might want some of those gloves."
Scott gives her a little smile and says, "You mean your boyfriend Quark does not like your cold hands? Or is it Sisko?"
Dax's mouth drops open as she puts both of her hands on the table and stands up and says, "Quark is not my boyfriend and Sisko and I go back a long way, all the way to when Curzon! We are just good friends."
"Then why do you want the gloves for?" Scott asks he leans back and looks up at her.
With a very big smile, she answers him, "You never know when I will someone, just like you did." Scott just smiles back at her with a big smile.
ACT FIVE
The next morning Dax is getting off the turbolift at ops, she slowly walks down to her to her station with a very tried look on her face. Kira and O'Brien are both at their stations, they both look at her with little smiles on their faces.
O'Brien smile gets a little bit bigger as he asks her, "Late night Lt.?"
"You can says that I guess, I only got about three hours of sleep." Dax answers him as she walks over to her station and sits down.
"So how much did you win last night at Quark's?" Kira asks as she looks up at Dax with a big smile too.
Dax looks at O'Brien and then at Kira and then answers her, "For your information I spend almost all night talking too Scott about been a host!"
O'Brien leans forward a little as he asks, "Is he going to get to keep the Symbiont?"
Dax leans back and looks at him with a smile and answers him, "He will keep the symbiont, he will make a good host."
Kira stands up and walks up to Dax station and leans towards her and asks, "So have you had a chance to check out your new grandson yet?"
Dax runs her finger over her console as she answers her, "Not yet, I have been a little busy, to go and see him."
"But he is your grandson and he is so close." Kira says with puzzle look on her face, as she looks over at O'Brien.
"One of the first things we learn when we are in training is that a Symbiont can have many grandkids, it is next to impossible to sees them all." Dax answers she as she leans back with a little smile.
Just then the doors to Sisko's office open and Sisko walks out and says, "Lt. I would like a word with you." He holds out his hand for her to coming into his office.
Dax gets up slowly and walks over to his office and walks in, without looking at Sisko.
Kira watches Dax enter Sisko's office and then looks at O'Brien and says, "I thinks Scott has brought back a lot of bad memories for Dax."
Odo is sitting behind his desk reading a Data padd, when Quark walks into his office and sets a data padd down on his desk. Odo looks at the data padd and then looks at Quark and asks, "What is this?"
Quark's face lights up as he answers him, "It's a bill for all the damages the crew of the Nokomis did to my bar!"
Odo leans back in his chair and asks, "Why are you bring it to me, you should take it to the Nokomis not me."
"I tried, when I went to asks their ship doctor out to lunch, but she called me a little toad and had me thrown off the Nokomis!" Quark answers him as he smiles at Odo.
"Quark when are you going to learn you cannot cheat ever one that comes too the station?" Odo asks as he picks up the data padd and hands it back to Quark, without looking at it. He then picks up another data padd and hands it too Quark.
Quark looks at it and his eyes get a little bit bigger as he asks, "What is this?" As he sets it down on Odo desk.
"It's what's the crew of the Nokomis say you owe them." Odo answers him as he leans back in his chair.
Quark's mouth drops open as he puts his hand on his chest as he says, "I'm shock that you would even think that I owe them anything, they came close to destroy my bar!
"But you were cheating them and they found out, Quark." Odo answers as a smile comes over his face.
Quark puts his hand over his heart and answers him, "I won fare and square, they owe me, not the other way around!"
Odo slowly stands up as he says, "Lets make a deal, if you pay the crew of the Nokomis what they says they loss I will not throw in into one of my cells."
Quark just looks at Odo with as he mouth falls open as he says, "Odo you sure know how to hurt me." He picks up his data padd and turns and walks out of Odo's office.
Odo just shakes his head no as he watches Quark walking away and says, "You will never learn."
Sisko walks around his desk as Dax sits down and looks at him as he sits down too. Once his is sitting down he looks at her and asks, "So old man what have you decided to do about Scott?"
Dax slowly shakes her head no as she leans a little bit forward as she says, "Why is everyone asking what I'm going to do?"
"Because we all care about you, were your friends." Sisko answers her with a big smile.
"He will keep the symbiont, as long as he does not go to the Trill home world and make a big deal about how he got it." Dax answers as she leans back and smiles at him.
"That good news old man, now tell me about Curzon's grandson." Sisko says as he stands up and starts to move around his desk.
"I was going to try and makes sometime later today to see him." Dax answers as she starts to stand up.
Before either can says anything eases the doors open and Kira enters and says, "We have been invited to come about the Nokomis to see Curzon grandson." She gives both Sisko and Dax a little smile.
Sisko, Dax and Kira are walking towards an airlock, Sisko is carrying a little box in his hand. When they see Kia Winn standing at the airlock waiting for them.
Winn smiles at them and then asks them, "I was wonder if I could join you when you visit my daughter?"
They all look at her and then Sisko answers her, "Be our quest." He holds his hand out for her to lead the way.
Kira move next to her and asks, "Are you looking forward to seeing your grandson?"
"I have something I want to asks my daughter to do for me before she leaves." Winn answers Kira as they enter the airlock together.
As they walks down the corridor of the ship they see crew member stop and look at them, when they come to a door Sisko pushes the door chimes. From inside they hear Scott says, "Come in."
Sisko lets Win and then Dax then Kira enter first, he bring up the rear, he sees Jan and Scott are coming out of one of the rooms with big smiles on their faces.
Winn holds her hands out to Jan as she walks towards her as she says, "My child how are you this morning?"
Jan just looks at her and then at Kira, Dax and then Sisko and then walks up to Kira, Dax and Sisko and holds out her hand and says, "How nice of you to come."
They all shake her hand and then Sisko hands her little box his is carry and as he says, "Here's a little gift for the little one."
Jan takes the box and opens it, she takes out a baseball and looks at it and the says, "What is this?"
Everyone in the room laughs but Jan and Winn who just looks at Jan with an unhappy look on her face.
"It's a baseball." Sisko answers with a big smile.
Scott reaches out and takes the baseball and says, "It's a game, I use to play, I was never very good at it."
"You leaded your team in homeruns three years in a row!" Dax answers with a little smile.
"Yes I did then they started throwing curves and that was that." Scott answers as he throws his hands up.
Jan puts her arm around Scott as she looks at Sisko and Dax and says, "Its good to meet you captain finally I have heard nothing but good things about you."
Scott takes a deep breath and asks, "Will father do you have any good news for us?"
"Yes I do, you get to keep the symbiont as long as you do not make a big deal about it." Dax answers with a big smile.
Jan gives Dax a big smile as she says, "Good, because you would have had a fight on your hand, if you decide to take him from me."
Winn who has been standing of to the side reaches out and tries to pull Jan towards her as she says, "My child may I have a work with you alone?"
Jan looks down at her mothers hand and answers her, "What every you have to say to me you can tell me in front of my husband!"
Winn is token back as she takes step back and then says, "I would just like too have you come to Bajor, for a few days, so many people would like to meet you."
Jan gives Winn a hard look as she asks her, "What office are you running for this time, mother?"
"My child, you have me all wrong. There are many people who would like to see the first Bajoran to make it as a captain of a Federation Star Ship." Winn answers with a little smile as she holds out her hand for Jan.
"I'm sorry mother but I do not have the time to go to Bajor, I'm heading for starbase 911 where I will be getting a new Galaxy-Class StarShip. With a baby it's a dream come true." Jan smiles at Winn as she puts her arm around Scott.
Sisko holds out his hand to Jan as he says, "Congratulate captain." Kira and Dax both step up and shake Jan's hand too. Sisko looks at Kira and then Dax and asks, "Can we see your son?"
"As long as you do not wake him up, we just got him to sleep." Jan answers him as she holds her hand out to let them enter a room behind her.
"Come on father let me show you, your newest grandson." Scott says as he heads into the bedroom.
As Jan starts to walk by her mother, Winn grabs her arm and asks, "Please tell me why you hate me so much?"
Jan gives her a long hard look and then says, "You never carried about me, the day I was raped by two drunken Cardassian. When I came to you for help all you said was go home and put some clean clothes on!" Winn tries to take hold of Jan's other hand, but Jan steps back and adds, "All you cared about was how much power you could get! And that is why you want me to come home with you, so you can show off your daughter a Star Fleet Captain!"
Winn smiles at her and says, "That is not true, my child. I had no idea you had been hurt."
From the bedroom a baby starts to cry and Scott, followed by Sisko and Dax come out of the room and Scott says, "I think he is hungry."
Jan turns and heads to would the bedroom as she start to unzip her uniform as she says, "Good-bye MOTHER!"
Winn looks at Sisko and Dax and then folds her hands in front of herself and turns and leaves the cabin without saying a word.
Scott turns and looks at Sisko and Dax and says, "I do not like that woman."
Sisko looks at Dax who is nodding her head yes as looks at the door as he says, "You are not alone in that department."
Kira comes out of the bedroom with a big smile on her face, she looks around the room and then asks, "Where is the Kia?"
"She is heading back to Bajor I think." Sisko answers with a little grin on his face.
Dax turns and walks over to Scott and holds out her hand as she says, "You have a beautiful son."
Scott shakes her hand as he says, Thanks you daddy, I will try and keep in touch if you like."
Dax gives him a little laugh as she says, "My name is Lt. Jadzia Dax, not Father or daddy! I hope you have more luck with your son then Curzon did?"
Scott gives her a little laugh as he answers her, "He was not that bad, as father go."
Sisko, Kira and Dax exit the cabin as Sisko looks at Dax and says, "Will old man, all's well that ends well."
Dax just gives him knowing smile as they walk back to station.
