REVOLUTIONARY
A young boy about nine years old is slowly being pushed along with some other grown up, they are all in chains. He looks up ahead and sees them carrying the one that they have just executed away from the wall that he is heading for. He sees that one of the body is his older sister, he looks down at his chains for about the tenth time and tries to pull them off as he says to himself, "Why did father have to help those men for? After all he was not a revolutionary!
As he is being push up towards the wall he sees that a little girl is standing next to him and she is crying. He puts his arm around her and turns her so she is facing the wall, when they hear a loud explode and everyone starts to run in every direction.
All at once the chains around his arms fall off and someone has grabbed him and pushes him towards an open field. He also sees that the man who is pushing him is also caring a little girl who has a bloody cloth around her head, as they are running towards the field. In the middle of the is a space ship. As they near the ship he sees a man standing next to the space ship and he does not look too happy. All at one there is another explodes and everything goes black.
Ensign Brown sets up in his bed in a cold sweat, he looks around his cabin and then climbs out of his bed and walks over to sink and looks in the mirror as he puts some water on his face. "Why after all these years I'm have those dreams again?" He says to himself as he turns and walks over to a window and looks at the passing stars, all the while shaking his head no. He turns and walks away from the window and walks over to where his uniform is hanging and puts it on and then leaves his cabin.
After walking for a few minutes he walks in ten forward where he sees Guinan whipping the bar with a white cloth. She looks up at him with a puzzle look as she asks, "It's a little early Ensign?
Brown walks up to the bar with a little smile as he answers her, "I could not sleep, so I got up and just started walking."
Guinan looks at him with a little smile as she asks him, "So what will you have?"
"How about a cup of hot coffee." Brown answers her as he looks down at his hands and says, "Nothing like a good coffee of cup to start a day."
Guinan pours him a cup of coffee as she says, "Last night I sew Lt. Mary Smith was in here last night with that with that new Lt. Mike Jones."
Brown smiles as he answers her, "He is a good man, she needs a good man." He takes a sip of his coffee and then says, "I wish them all the luck I can."
Guinan gives him a puzzle look as she says, "Ever one thought she was your girl! Did she stop seeing you because you did not make Lt. last month?"
A big smile comes over his face as he answers her, "No, we have just been good friends for many years is all, we were neighbor on Arcturus."
Guinan smiles as she says, "I have seen the way she looks at you when you two are in here."
Just then they hear Commander Riker, "Ensign Jim Brown report to the bridge." Brown looks at Guinan and asks, I wonder what this is all about?"
"I heard that an ambassador from Cetus late last night." Guinan answers as she smiles at him.
Brown picks up his coffee and drinks it down all at one and then says, "I guess I had better see what they want." He turns away from her so she does not see that his hands are shaking.
Guinan watches him leave ten forward, she picks up his coffee cup and says to herself, "I wonder why he turn so white when I said that a ambassador from Cetus is on the Enterprise?"
Brown gets on a turbolift and stands up against the back wall and looks down at his hands and sees that they are shaking. He shakes his head no as he says to himself, "How could they have found me after all these years!"
When the turbolift stops, he walks out and the first thing he sees is Captain Picard standing with talking to two men in black robes. Brown looks around and sees a tried looking Lt. Worf standing at his station, Commander Riker and Counselor Trio are standing next to Picard.
One of the men looks up as he walks onto the bridge, he smiles at Brown and says something to the other man, they both look at him and as Brown walks down towards Picard they move towards him. When the men are right in front of Brown one of them says, "So you thought you could hide from us Browe!" He then throws his fist into Brown stomach hard. The other one then throws a fist into him nose as he was bending over from the first fist. He falls backward and lands on his back with a bloody nose.
Picard shouts, "WORF!" Worf and Riker both grab a man as Picard asks, "Ambassador Jaco what do you think you are doing?"
Jaco turns and looks at Picard with a big smile and answers him, "This man is a Revolutionary he is a wanted man on Cetus! I have come to arrest him for his crimes against Cetus!"
Troi who had move over to where Brown is laying out cold, she looks up and says, "You did not have to hit him!"
Jaco looks down at Brown and answers her, "It's the only thing his kind understand."
Picard walks right up to Jaco and looks him right in the eyes and tells him, "He is a member of my crew, till you can prove his is your man!"
Jaco looks down at Brown and answers him, "He is our man, we have been looking for him for the last twenty years!"
Troi looks down at Brown, who is starting to move slowly as he tries to get up, but stops when he sees Jaco smiling down at him. He looks at Troi and asks, "What's going on here?"
Jaco smiles down at him as he answers him, "You are under arrest for your crimes against the Cetus people!"
Brown slowly gets up holding his bloody nose as he answers him, "I have never been to Cetus in my life! I was born on Arcturus, I live there till I join Star Fleet."
Troi looks at Brown and then at Picard as she shakes her head no just a little bit as she looks at Jaco and asks him, "What kind of proof you have?"
Jaco smiles and answers her, "That will come out at his trial, but if you most know, we got the information from the people who raised your Ensign Brown."
With a wild look in his eyes Brown looks at Jaco and shouts, "What did you do to my mother?" He starts to move towards Jaco, but Troi grabs his arm and holds him from moving closer to Jaco.
"We got everything we need from her but where the other Revolutionary is." Jaco answers Brown as he gives him a sick smile.
Brown tries to throw a punch at Jaco but Riker gets between them as he says, "Save it for later Ensign!"
Picard walks up to Jaco and says, "Worf get these men off my bridge!"
Worf walks over to Jaco and puts his hand on his elbow and as he says, "This way ambassador!" As he pulls him away from Brown."
Jaco looks down at Worf's hand and answers him, "Take your hand off me, Klingon!" As he and his aid head towards the turbolift, without looking back any them.
Picard walks up to Brown and asks, "Is what he said true, Ensign?"
Brown wipes some blood from under his nose as he answers Picard, "I was born on Arcturus, I do not know what he is talking about." He looks at Troi and then says, "I need to call my mom and see if she is alright."
"You had better get that nose look at first Ensign." Troi says as she looks at Picard and shakes her head no just a little bit.
Brown wipes some more blood off his face as he heads towards the turbolift with a sad look on his face, without looking at anyone.
Once she has seen the doors to the turbolift doors close she looks at Picard and says, "He is lying about where is was born and knowing the other Revolutionary!"
Riker looking towards the turbolift shakes his head no as he says, "How could he have make it this far with out someone find out the truth about where he was born? When I applied to Star Fleet, they check all the way back to when I was in grade school."
Picard shakes his head no as he walks over to his seat and sits down and looks up towards the main viewer as he says, "Number one if Ensign Brown did lie, then he is in a lot of trouble."
Down in Sickbay Brown is siting up on one of the tables with Dr. Crusher running a scanner over his nose. When a Troi comes walking into sickbay and walks up to Brown and asks, "I have a few question for you, when you feel like answering them."
Crusher gives him a little smile as she tells him, "It's not broken, you got lucky this time Ensign."
Brown jumps down off the table and turns and looks at Troi with a sad look on his face as he says, "I guess I cannot lie to you, my real name is Browe." He starts to head towards the doorway but stops and looks back towards Troi and says, "I will answers all your question once I have warn the other person he is looking for! Even thou she may not believe me, but I have warn her."
"Ensign I think you had better answers some of my question right now, you are in enough trouble right now!" Troi says as she walks up to him with a sad look on her face.
Brown looks down at the floor and says, "OK, for now she is safe I guess." He walks over to a small table and sits down and says, "Asks away."
Troi looks at Crusher and then walks over to where Brown is sitting and sits down across from him and asks, "Why is Jaco want you so bad for?
Brown takes a deep breath and answers her, "During the last Revolution my father who was a doctor help to save some of the Revolutionary lives. Even thou that was against the law."
"How can saving someone life be against the law!" Crusher asks as she walks up to them with a look of shock on her face.
"Anyone who help someone who is trying to over throw the government, is also a Revolutionary, it's the law. Before I mange to escape I saw them killing even babies. Brown answers her with a sad look as he looks at the Troi and says, "That other person they are looking is daughter of the leader of the last Revolution, she does not know anything about this."
Troi leans a little bit closer and asks, "How long will it take you to warn her? Will maybe able to buy her sometime to find a place to hide somewhere."
Brown looks down at his hands and answers her, "She on this ship too. Her name is Lt. Mary Smith."
From the doorway they all hear, "That is all we need too now from you Browe!" They all turn and see Jaco's aide standing in the doorway with a tricorder in his hands and a very sick look on his face. He turns and runs into a turbolift as his says, "You both will be executed as soon as we get you back home,"
Brown jumps up and shouts, "I have to warn her!" He then quickly runs out of sickbay as Troi and Crusher watches him with look of shock on both of their faces.
Troi hits her communicator and says, "Troi to Picard, I now who the other person they are looking for and its Lt. Mary Smith!" She the asks, "Computer where is Lt. Mary Smith at?"
"Lt. Mary Smith is in Ten forward." The computer answers her.
She then heads out of sickbay and head towards a turbolift with a sad look on her face. When she gets off the turbolift she walks into Ten forwards and sees Lt. Smith and Guinan talking as ensign Brown is walking up to them., she sees him put his hand on her shoulder as he wipes a some tears off his face. She quickly walks up to them as she hears him telling her, "I have something I must tell you."
Mary smiles up at him and asks, "What wrong Jim? She sees Troi walking up to them and slowly stands up and says, "Is did something happen to my father?"
Brown waits till Troi has moved up next to them and he then answers her, "No it is not your father, its something I should have told you years ago."
Mary gives him a little smile as she says, "You mean that you love me. I have always now that, Jim."
Brown sits down next to her and puts his hand on top of her as he says, "No, the man you have been calling father is not your father!"
Mary's eyes get a little big as she says, "What are you saying?" She looks at Troi and then back at Brown and says, "What is going on here?"
Brown looks down at her hands as he says, "Do you remember when you fell out of the tree and you lost your memory?"
Mary nods her head yes as she answers him, "What does this have to do with my father?"
"You never fell out of a tree, you were hurt on Cetus when your real father lead a Revolution on Cetus."
Mary's mouth drop open as she pulls her hand free of his and stands up as she looks down at him and says, "Why are you lying to me? My father is an ambassador, not some Revolutionary!"
Brown looks down at his hands and says, "It's true, we both were born on Cetus and know they are looking for us."
Mary just looks down at him with a shock look on her face as she looks at Troi who is looking down at Brown with a sad look on her face. Mary shakes her head no as she says, "What kind of proof do you have, I need proof before I can believe you."
Brown still looking down at his hand's answers her, "You will just have to take my word about it."
"That is good enough for us!" They hear a voice coming from behind them and they turn around and see Jaco's aide standing behind them with a tricorder in his hands with a big smile on his face. He turns and walks quickly out of Ten Forward as he starts to laugh out loud.
Brown gets up as he says, "I'm sorry I should have told you years ago, but your real father made me promise to never tell you who your were." He turns and says, "I have to get a hold of the woman who raised me and see if she is alright."
Troi watches him leave Ten forward and then says, "I had better tell the captain, before Jaco tell him."
Mary and Guinan both watch Troi leave as Guinan looks at Mary and says, "I believe what Brown told you, he would never lie about something like this."
Mary looks at her and says, "If he is telling the truth, my hole life has been one big lie."
Troi is standing in front of Picard and Riker as she says, "So that's the story, they are from Cetus."
Picard deep in though looks ups at Troi and says, "I want to see Ensign Brown in my ready room as soon as possible, I have a few question to ask him."
They all hear the turbolift doors open and they turn and see Jaco and his aide walking onto the bridge. They both have big smiles on their faces; Jaco walks up to Picard and says, "I have all the proof I need to take the two Revolutionary into custody now." He holds up his tricorder and plays back what Brown said in Ten Forward.
Picard and Riker both stand up as Picard says, "Ambassador Jaco, first I will not turn two members of my crew to you, until I have had a chance to hear their side of the story and second your are not a member of the Federation! So I do not have to turn them over to you, unless order to by Star Fleet."
Jaco still smiling answers him, "Captain these Revolutionary must be sent back, or their will never be peace on Cetus."
"I do not understand why you call them Revolutionary, when it was their parents who were the so called Revolutionary?" Riker asks as he stares at Jaco with a mean look on his face.
Jaco looks at Riker and answers him, "It's a will known fact that Revolutionary breed Revolutionary."
Before anyone can answers this the turbolift doors open again and Brown almost at a run comes onto the bridge with a wild look in his eyes. He looks down at Jaco and shouts; "YOU kill my stepmother!" He starts to move towards Jaco, but Riker move to get in front of him.
"Ensign, let us handle this!" Riker tells him as he looks over his shoulder at Jaco, who is just smiling at him.
The turbolift doors open again and Mary comes walking onto the bridge with tears in her eyes, she looks at Brown and then Picard and says, "I have just talk to my father and he says that what Brown has said is true."
Jaco looks at Mary and then at Picard and says, "I'm ready to take these Revolutionary back to Cetus for execution for their crimes against the people of Cetus!"
Before Picard can answers him, Worf says, "Captain you have a message coming from Cetus for you."
Jaco smiles at Picard and says, "I sent a message home that I had found the Revolutionary, they are probable calling to says, Thanks for all of your help."
Picard just stares at Jaco and then turns towards the main viewer and says, "On screen." On the screen and an old man with white hair and a cloth around his face, it covers one of his eyes.
Jaco's mouth drops open as he says, "Thaddeus what's going on there?" As he takes a few steps toward the viewer, with a look of shock on his face.
Thaddeus just smiles as he answers him, "We have finely won, we are know in charge of Cetus."
Jaco gives Thaddeus a little smile as he says, "That is what you think, I have your daughter so you had better surrender or I will have her killed!"
He starts to pull a phaser out of his pocket but stops when he hear Riker says, "I think not ambassador!" Jaco turns and see that both Brown and Riker have move in front of Mary and that Worf has a phaser train right at him.
"Captain I would like you to take those two into custody, we have a cell waiting for them here on Cetus." Thaddeus says as he stares at Jaco and then turns and looks at Mary and says, "You look a lot like your mother, may she rest in peace." He then turns and looks at Picard and asks, "Captain we would like the Federation help in setting up a new government, one that is fare to everyone on Cetus."
Picard walks towards the viewer as Jaco and his aide are being lead away as he says, "We can show you many different types of governments, but you must chose the one you want!"
Three days later Mary is sitting in Ten Forward next to the big window looking at the planet in the window when Troi walks up to her and asks, "What do you think of your home world so far?"
"It's going to take me a little while to get use to calling Cetus home." Mary answers her as she turns and looks up at Troi and asks, "What going to happen to Jim, after all he did knowing like about where he was born?"
Troi sits down next to her and answers, "He will not be able to try to become a Lt. for three years. But he is going to be spending those three years helping to set up a new government on Cetus." She then reaches out and puts her right hand on top of Mary and says, "They are looking for one more person to help him."
Mary wipes a tear off her face as she smiles at Troi and answers her, "You know that I have always loved him, I could not stand being away from him that long." She gets up and quickly walks out of Ten Forward as Guinan walks up to Troi.
"Those two are going to make a fine pare." Guinan says as she looks at the planet in the window.
Brown is placing some flowers in a very large field as he wipes some tears off his face as he is says to himself, "I have come home father, I will try to make Cetus a good place to live."
Standing behind him is Picard, Riker and Thaddeus; Thaddeus is also holding some flowers in his hands. He walks up next to Brown and sets his flower down as he says, "We are going to try and place a large marker here with the names of all who are buried here."
Brown looks around the field and sees that a lot of people have set flowers down all over the field, he wipes another tear off his face as he says, "Plan on coming to this place many time, so I can remember where I came from."
From behind them Mary comings walking, she does not even look at Picard or Riker but walks up to Brown and throws her arms around him and gives him a deep and long kiss, she then asks him, "Will you marry me?"
Brown looks over at Thaddeus and asks, "Sir I would like to marry your daughter."
Thaddeus small at them and answers him, "I think that would be a wonderful, now if you will excess me, I'm going to vote for our next leader."
Picard and Riker both turns and walks away as Brown and Mary are holding hands as they look out at the field. Riker with a little smile on his face says, "I think we are going to leave this planet in good hands captain."
As they walk thou the town they see child playing the street, Picard answer him, "Yes we are Will, in time they may make good member to the federation."
Riker looks over his shoulder and sees Brown and Mary walking hand in hand as kids come running up to them and says, "They are ready have two of their people in Star Fleet."
"Will lets get back too the ship, we have to pick some supplies up for Diffie four at Star base Ten."
Brown looks at Mary and says, "Last night was the first time I got a good night sleep in a long time."
Mary looks around and says, "I wish I could remember what it was like before I left here."
"I will tell you all about it over dinner tonight at your father's house." Brown answers her with a big smile.
Mary puts her arm around him and says, "Show me the city my love."
