The Imperial Tie/D Fighter

The TIE/D-Fighter (TIE/Droid Unit)
was first used in the Battle of
Calamari. It is a fully automated
Fighter which allows Imperial
Commanders to use immense fleets
without exposing pilots to potential
risks. There are only minor
differences to the Standard Model.
The ship can be controlled either
directly from a capital ship or by the integrated computer. This computer weighs less
than 10 kg and therefore the Fighter can exceed the speed of a Standard Model.
Nevertheless the computer is inferior to human pilots when it comes to strategic
problems. This disadvantage is mainly compensated by the high numbers which are
used during battles.
Unfortunately most production plants have been destroyed with the World
Devastators. Imperial technicians do work on computer improvements but right now
they concentrate more on the "living" model. Pictures are not available and therefore
we can only publish a drawing from SFS.
