Warhammer 40k was my first GW-related game. Like many others, I was "influenced by bad companies", ie, started watching games untill I actually played one.
I started with the Imperial Guard, being partial to the tanks, the huge amount of guns and the hordes of men charging up the hill, fixed bayonets at the ready.
Latter, the new Space Marine Land Raider attracted me to the Emperor's finest *cough, cough*. I built a chapter of my own, based on the Black Templars, called the Ice Dragons.
Finnally, the Tau. I started a Tau army for the same reason I started the IG: lot's of big guns! The fact that this, probably, the most high tech army in W40k also helped...
