Ip'sc groaned; it hurt. "Why," he asked feebly.

Roberts continued his scans, apparently ignoring Ip'sc. Finally
satisfied with the readings, he answered the question. "Despite what you
think, I do take my medical responsibilities seriously. If this were the
20th century, you'd be dead right now. If I had stayed aboard the station,
you'd be dead. However, you lucked out; I was here. Being already
familiar with your delicate innards, I took it upon myself to patch you up;
you'll survive."

"You should have let me die," complained Ip'sc.

"You still might. A lot could happen between now and the time we
reach the station." Roberts poked Ip'sc firmly in the ribs.

A lightning bolt seemed to hit Ip'sc where Roberts' finger landed,
and he screamed in agony. Roberts smiled slightly, the first hint of
emotion he displayed since Ip'sc regained consciousness. "Bastard," cried
Ip'sc, as tears flowed down his face.

"That's a good sign, Mr. Ip'sc. That means that you should make a
complete recovery. Luckily for you, your captors were more concerned with
inflicting pain rather than doing any real damage. Like I said, you'll
survive." Roberts poked Ip'sc's other side, eliciting a similar scream
from the patient.

Satisfied, Roberts walked away from Ip'sc's bed. "I'm going to
kill you," shouted Ip'sc to his retreating doctor.

"You're welcome," answered Roberts, without altering his stride.

Scene: M'Beya's Shop
Time: Fast Forward, after GALAXY returns Ip to the station

Lynn Shimura sat impatiently in front of the shop's comm terminal.
"I don't understand why I can't at least talk to him."

"I'm sorry, Miss Shimura," Capt Ruane explained again, "but it's
just not possible at the moment."

"You say he's not hurt, he's not under arrest, but he can't return
to his quarters or his shop, and no one can talk to him?"

"That's about right," nodded Ruane in agreement.

"This is wrong, Captain. Dr. M'Beya is a Federation citizen. He
has rights. You're violating them. I demand to speak to him."

Ruane shook his head. "I'm well aware of his rights, Miss Shimura.
It's those rights that kept me from ejecting him out an airlock when we
picked him up."

Shimura opened her mouth to complain, but Ruane beat her to it.
"May I give you a friendly suggestion, Miss Shimura? I know you're a
friend of Ip'sc's, so I would suggest you visit him and forget about Dr.
M'Beya for the time being. We'll all be happier that you did. Good day."
With that, Capt Ruane cut the connection.

Ensign Selak powered up the D-warp shuttle and tapped in the
co-ordinates for DS 101.

"Computer, give me all the information you have on DS 101."

"Just give me a list of the current situation reports and anything you
have on Captain Ruane." Selak wondered if Starfleet computers had
been programmed by Vulcans.

All to soon DS 101 came up on his sensors, he had not even began to
get all the information on the station he wanted.

"DS 101 from Shuttle er..." Selak had been so busy he hadn't even
noticed the name of the shuttle. "...Ensign Selak. requesting
permission to dock." He continued.

[This is DS 101. Permission granted, proceed to shuttle bay one, and
welcome to the Starbase Ensign.]

Selak started the docking procedure and the vision of the crashing
shuttle at the Omega training centre flashed though his mind. This
time, however, the shuttle came to a gentle landing inside the shuttle
bay.

"Facinating." He said to himself as he left the shuttle and looked
around. A Starfleet Ensign walked over to greet him.

"I have been ordered to report to Captain Graeme Ruane. Could you
direct me to him?" Selak said.

"I have orders to do just that." Replied the Ensign.

The two officers walked out of the shuttle bay and headed of in
search of the captain.

The trip back to DS 101 had been uneventful, the BANGALORE had towed
the BURMUDA-TRIANGLE in her tractor beam, followed by the GALAXY and the
DERGRAD's new warship, the HEC'NU. The HEC'NU had yet to arrive.
M'Beya was immediatly given a check over upon arrival at the station
before being sent to the brig to await questioning.

Ruane now sat at the Observation Lounge table, looking over reports
and orders; he hoped that his Office would be fixed soon; he felt so
isolated in the Observation Lounge.

"Well, might aswell attend to business." He said to himself and
started writing a message.

TO: Alyza, Lieutenant Commander, XO/CSciO-DS101
SUBJ: HEC'NU

LtCmdr.Alyza,
I would like you to deal with the the Dergrad vessel, HEC'NU
upon it's arrival at the station. The Dergrad prisoners are to be
handed over *only* if they provide us with assurances they will do
everything in their power to assist the CURIE in finding the Rebel base.

        Thank you,
                Capt.Graeme Philip Ruane
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

He hit send and then read the next message on the terminal; it was
from OMEGA, he read it and frowned. It seemed he was destined to a
command riddled with recurring holes in his staff; yet again his CSO,
this time Ensign Kirk, was to be transfered elsewhere. He sent a
message to Ensign Bruce Kirk enclosing the instructions from Cocoon
Fleet command. He hoped they would send somebody else soon. Once again
he moved on a message; this time from Michelle Gordon, asking for dinner
some time soon; he filed the message to be delt with later before moving
on to a report from Ensign McLeary.

The ASO's findinds so far on the station was interesting from several
perspectives, the one Graeme focused on was of course the engineering
side. He decided he would have to make an appointment with John McLeary
for a guided tour of the alien computer core, he sent a message to him
asking that an appointment be made as soon as possible. Once it was
sent his console bleeped, a female voice spoke.

With the major reports delt with, Ruane moved on to the standard
departmental reports. Dergrad Rebel activity had dropped, and several
freighters were venturing back. The Base would still need to be located
however, business on DS 101 was far below what it should be thanks to
the actions of the terrorists. Although Ruane's opinion was that
station life would never be altered by their actions, it seemed the
traders themselves had a different view; there were rumours that some
freighters were carrying a modest amount of arms to defend themselves.
Whilst that was okay in some respects it made DS 101's job harder. If
there was a trade dispute the possible ramifications might be more than
a few raised voices, plus there was always the risk that the freighter
Captains would take it into their own hands to deal with the rebels.
Ruane looked at the ship arrival table, a passenger ship from OMEGA was
due to arrive in three days, and the CURIE would arrive in 2 weeks, 5
days, that could be a long time; the BANGALORE crew would have to be on
perminant standby.
With a sigh Ruane stood and ordered a coffee from the replicator, much
work still had to be done...

All: Please welcome Shaun aboard who plays a Vulcan male, Ensign Selak;

Ruane will remain in the Observation Lounge until he reports. :)

Ruane looked up as he heard the bleep of the door; wandering what
possibly could be the matter now, he sipped his coffee before giving the
order for who ever it was to come in. An Ensign walked in,

"Ensign Selak reporting for duty sir!" Said the Vulcan, stood to
attention.

"Welcome aboard Ensign, I was told you were on your way. FCO right?"
Asked Graeme.

  "Yes sir."

"Well," He paused. "At ease Ensign." The Vulcan relaxed slightly.

"Well, the official title for thia station is 'Chief Navigation
Officer' as we don't *really* have flight control being a stationary
object." Selak nodded.

"Your job as CNO is to command the flight department and make sure
that engineering and OPS are maintaining the shuttles and keeping them
flight worthy. You will also need to do the odd minor job yourself.
You will need to assign members of your department to the shuttles as
well as our support vessel, the USS BANGALORE. On most missions however
you will be the flight controller for her." He paused, to make sure the
Vulcan was taking it all in; of course he was - he's a Vulcan.

"You will need to work closely with the OPS deparment, as CNO you also
need to co-ordinate flight plans of incoming and outgoing vessels;
ensuring they don't pass through hostile territory. OPS says who docks
and when; so you need to be aware of what they want. Understood?"

"Yes sir. I do have a question though."

"Go ahead." Ruane said, taking a sip from his Coffee.

"Who is in charge of the OPS department?"

"On the station it is Ensign.John Roberts, on the BANGALORE it is
Lieutenant Thomas Harrison. I suggest you go to Ens.Roberts."

  "Thank you Captain."

  "Any more questions?"

Scene: Sciences

Alyza, comming off the Banglore, went directly for sciences to make sure
things were functioning smoothly. She felt it important to keep on top of
things. She ignored the fact that some of her hair had come loose from the
pony tail she wore it in and the cut on her head that the hair covered.
There was not a great loss of blood, only a few small green drops.
However, her head had hit the console rather hard.

She had not been in sciences long when a messege came from Cpt. Ruane for her.

Alyza made her way towards the docking bay where the Dergrad vessel would
dock. The corridor from sciences was quite empty and would be so until the
shift change. Alyza was almost to the turbo lift when suddenly everything
went dark and she fell to the floor.

Barak, in their quarters, felt something change, felt the bond with Alyza
grow weak. He queried the computer about her location, but her comm badge
was not functioning. He then started to call the counsole room and
sciences. The counsole room did not know where she was, but sceince knew
she had just left for the docking bay 5 minutes ago. Barak went in search
of his mate, notifying sick bay to be on the alert.

Barak found Alyza 10 minutes later, laying unconsious in the corridor. He
picked her up in his strong arms and took her to sickbay. Dr. Mira Ling
was on duty.

----a bit later----

"She has a concussion, but she will be okay" said Dr. Ling, placing a piece
of equipment on Alyza's forehead "this will repair the damage within the
hour. Alyza should, however, rest and stay off of her feet for a few days"

[NRPG: Just a small post to get Alyza out of action for a few days, as I
will be off line until Wednesday]
