USS Banglore

The Banglore was ready to depart, Alyza contacted flight control and was
given permission to leave the docking port. Moving away from the station
with thrusters, the Banglore was finally underway.

"Set a course for the last know areas of Dergrad attacks, warp 3. Engage."

They would investigate the areas of the recent attack on Brax's ship and
the Hetgarot freighter first, as it was the logical place to start. If
this failed to bring any results of clues to the whereabouts of the Dergrad
rebels [NRPG: the treaty violations are *not* supported by the Dergrad
government].

The comm wistled, and Mira Ling's voice came over Alyza's comm badge.
<>

"Alyza here."

<>

"Very well, I will have an engineer there to repair it right away. Alyza
out."

Tapping her comm badge, Alyza called engineering "Alyza to Ensign Johnathan
Elliot"

<>

"Ens. Elliot, 2 bio beds are malfunctioning in sickbay. Please send one of
the staff there to fix it" Alyza had learned from experience that
non-Vulcans needed to hear the word please from time to time, as well as
being thanked for simply doing their jobs. Illogical, but then most
species in the universe were.

There was a brief pause and then Elliot said: <>

"Acknowledged. Alyza out."

NRPG: Okay, we are on our way. BTW, on a ship as small as the Banglore,
does the ops officer run the helm?

As you can see, I am back. Sorry about the absence. My e-mail was working
on Tuesday, but school was just too busy...

Scene:Roberts' Quarters

"That's the last of it, Mr. Roberts.", said J'nete as she brought
in the last of her belongings into the quarters.
"J'nete, you don't have to be so formal. Call me John.", said
Roberts as he helped her carry her things into her room. Martha was on
board the GALAXY, making a communication call to the Specialist Division
on Earth. She also wanted to be out of the way so that John and J'nete
could spend some time together.
"I kind of feel funny calling you that.", said J'nete.
"You'll get used to it.", Roberts said with a grin. "How did you
like TriCON?"
J'nete beamed. "It was wonderful. Ms. Clements showed me the whole
operation. And Brax said I could go with him on a trade mission if you
said it was ok."
"Maybe when things settle down a bit.", said Roberts.
"You mean with the Dergrad attacks?", asked J'nete.
"How do you know about that?", inquired Roberts.
"People on the GALAXY were talking about it. Martha also told me
about it."
"And you're still ok about living on the station under such a
threat?"
"Starfleet officers have to live with danger if they want to
explore. I figure I might as well get used to it.", said J'nete simply.
Roberts shook his head. "You're braver than I was when I was your
age?"
"Really?", asked J'nete. "You seemed to not be afraid of
anything."
Roberts rolled his eyes. "Believe me, when I was young, all I
cared about was myself. You couldn't drag me into a dangerous situation
for nothing. I was always cautious."
"You grew up when Earth was still an evolving culture. I've read
about how violent humans used to be.", said J'nete.
"I could tell you some stories.", said Roberts. "But we'll save
that for another time. I need to go to TriCON and see what's going on
there. Want to tag along."
"Please.", said J'nete. Extending his arm, J'nete put her arm
around his, and both left the quarters to The Mall.

Scene: TriCON INC.
"Are you sure it's not because of interference.", said Nancy to
TriCON's locator official.
"Yes.", said the employee. "The ARGUS-FLOWER is suppossed to be at
these coordinates. There are no anamolies to block the transmission.
"Brax.", said Nancy to the Ferengi, who was on the other side of
the console viewing the information. "What was the ARGUS-FLOWER
transporting?"
"They were carrying Bejonie meditation crystals. They were to
trade them for Vurtedion wax, and then return here to give them to Orisis
Nevel for his shop."
"These coordinates show that the rendevous would have taken place
just outside of Vurtedion space.", said Nancy. Hearing the door open
behind her, she saw Roberts enter with J'nete.
"Continue hailing the ARGUS-FLOWER. And send a general subspace
message out requesting nearby ships to report if they've seen her.", said
Nancy to the Locator. She went over to Roberts, a grave look on here face.
"We've lost contact with the ARGUS-FLOWER. Same situation as the
MONTOV."
"Any of our people on board?", asked Roberts.
"This time yes. James McDowell. He was to negotiate another
transaction with the Vurtedion captain."
Roberts shook his head. "We can't keep sending ships out like
this."
"We're having a difficult time convincing merchants that it's safe
out there.", said Nancy.
"Until further notice limit all trade arrangements to the station
only. Any ships that contact us for trade will have to come to the station
to conduct business with us."
"Brax is supposed to leave tomorrow for the Vurtedion Homeworld.",
said Nancy.
Roberts looked over to Brax. "Brax.", he called. "Your not going.
Contact Wenui and tell her negotiations will have to be resheduled."
"But I made these arrangements all by myself. My reputation will
be tarnished.", complained Brax.
"Get real. Your reputation isn't even known. Your ship can't
withstand the attack of a Dergrad fighter, as primitative as their
technology is."
Brax shooked his head and mumbled. "So much for profit."

Ruane sat talking to Michelle once more; he liked this woman,
everything about her seemed perfect - what was more - this woman
appeared to like him. As they talked about one another and a multitude
of other things a communication came in for Ruane,

[Captain, another freigher has been attacked, this time near the
Vurtedion/Dergrad border.] Roberts finished.

"Thank you Ensign, I'm on my way." He turned to Michelle.

"I'm sorry, I have to go...duty calls." He smiled and stood up, she
stood too and the two shared a brief and delicate kiss before Graeme
strolled off towards the turbolift; he offered a slight smile before the
doors closed on him.

"Console Room." He ordered The turbolift began it's ascent.

"Tell me; what were you hoping to achieve by initiating the epidemic
that could have easily wiped out the crew of DS 101?" Kirk asked one of
the Dergrad. This was the second of the captives he had asked this
question.

"I would have thought that was self-evident. The Dergrad Empire
deserves more than peace, we are a dominating race by nature; we will
not be *dominated* by outsiders such as yourself." The Dergrad spat the
words in much the same way the last one had. 'Very uniform' Kirk
thought to himself; he half hoped that the feelings of the Dergrad held
captive now did not reflect the majority in the Empire.

...some time later.

Kirk had finished with the last Dergrad, recieving much the same
answers from all of them; 'For the Empire' was the general feeling
behind there words. Kirk was intrigued however; what was this unknown
humanoid doing helping the Dergrad. He began to ask his questions...

**Scene: USS BANGALORE**

Harrison looked at his console as it bleeped.

"Incoming transmission from DS 101 sir." He reported to LtCmdr.Alyza.

"Onscreen Lieutenant." The half-Vulcan ordered, the image of Captain
Ruane appeared ahead of them.

[Commander; we've recieved word of a recent attack on a freighter.
Transmitting the co-ordinates now for you to investigate.]

"Understood Captain." She paused as the co-ordinates were transmitted
to the BANGALORE.

[I don't need to emphasise how important it is you find out what is
going on out there and why, although we have our suspicions. Proceed at
maximum warp commander.]

  "Aye sir."

[Ruane out.] The screen returned to showing stars whizzing by, Alyza
looked at Harrison.

"Plot a course to the given co-ordinates, maximum warp."

"Course layed in and ready sir."

"Engage!" Harrison ran his fingers along the console and the stars
moved sideways as the ship altered her course and speed.

"ETA - three hours commander." Harrison reported.

"Thank you Lieutenant." She used the extraneous pleasantry again then
sat staring straight ahead.

**Scene: Somewhere in Dergrad Space**

"Captain, I am reading a federation vessel on a course for the
location of our last attack." A young Dergrad sat at the Dergrad
equivelant to OPS reported.

  "When will it arrive?"

"In approximatly two and a half hours Captain." The young Dergrad
informed him.

"Prepare for it's arrival; I want all of the ships in that area
withdrawn and hidden."

"Yes Captain." The Dergrad tapped at his console and relayed the
Captain's orders...

SCENE: DS 101 Merchant's Row

SD 90314.1701

Knowing his shop - and most importantly Lynn - under the secret protection
of a professional person and the Kzin under the observation by two others,
Jefferson felt more at ease with his plans. He approached the nearest public
terminal and inquired about the location of Ip, who happened to be in his
quarters.

"Curious", he made, noticing that the computer claimed that the small
ex-captain had not left that place for more than 15 hours. Furrowing his brow,
Jefferson wondered if Z'Dark would be as blatantly stupid as doing his partner
harm.

Minutes later, the tall masai operated the door chime on Ip'sc quarters.
Realizing that he wouldn't receive an answer, he touched his personal
communicator and established a connection with base security. In a matter of
minutes the door was opened and security moved in, phasers drawn. A medic
arrived a few seconds later.

"What's going on?", the breathless officer asked. Jefferson shrugged.

"I have no idea. I realized I hadn't seen Mr. Ip in some time and discovered
he was in his quarters for an unusual length of time and didn't answer the
door." He made an unhappy face.

"Looks like someone was searching for something", one of the security guards
said, returning to the door. Peering inside, the doctor saw a mess of things
that had been tossed about.

  "Ip?", M'Beya inquired.

"He's not at home. We found this, ever see something like it?" He held up a
small black box with a tiny blinking light on the side.

"That's what I'd call a class 2 unknown alien device, Ensign."

  "Class 2?"

"With little blinking lights as opposed to something that doesn't show any
exterior activity." He took a closer look at it.

"I'd assume it fooled the internal sensors into believing Mr. Ip was in
place. Extending that assumption through the fact that the computer didn't
receive a second reading of the same person, Mr. Ip must be in a sensor deaf
location, perhaps away from the station. I suggest you verify that the
_Revenge_, his ship, is still in the docking bay."

This was getting interesting in an unsettling manner.

"Captain, I have a report coming in; the civilian, Ip'sc Carbo is

attempt to hide his grudge against the civilian engineer.

"Any clues as to where he might have gone?" Ruane said, halting by
the door to his office.

"Security is checking the shuttle bay right now for his ship REVENGE."
Roberts informed the Captain.

"Have Kirk halt the questioning of the Dergrad and attempt to discover
the whereabouts of Mr.Ip'sc." Ruane ordered. Roberts relayed the
request to DS 101's new CSO.

"Security have checked the shutle bay; the REVENGE is still on board

Scene: Z'Dark's quarters, deck 39

Zahn closed the schematics display and looked at the time displayed
on his terminal. He had been studying the corridors, access ducts and
every piece of information he could get his paws on about the
structure of the space station for the past 6 hours. All information
he accessed from the terminal in his quarters was, of course, in the
public domain. Ip'sc hadn't called yet, so it was a reasonable
assumption that he wouldn't drop by during the next houh, so Zahn
went out.

As far as he could realize from the schematics he had studied, there
were 5 ways he could get to Ruane: two of them led to CO's Office, on
Deck 1. The other 3 led to his quarters on Deck 3 (NRPG: Replace with
whatever deck # you want, Phil). If he would have really wanted to kill
Ruane, the safest method would be on the Merchant's Row, or in a
highly crowded place. But he had to leave traces - pointing to the
Vurtedions. He had manufactured an artizanal bomb with the precise
tech level and materials a Vurtedion would, small enough to kill one
man in a crowd.

Zahn detected a slight movement with the corner of his eye and cursed
inwards. He was being followed and he didn't notice. He turned left
in junction of many corridors, saw there is no one watching him,
quickly opened an access panel and squeezed himself inside. For such
a big body, he was moving incredibly fast.

His follower appered at the corridor junction and looked around in
confusion. He then produced a small comunication device. "I lost him.
Did he come your way?"
Zahn couldn't hear the answer from his hiding place.
"Very well, I'll tell Jefferson about it" the man added, then left
the junction.

*Amateurs* thought Zahn. However, he moved through the access duct to
another access panel and, before leaving the duct paused a couple of
minutes to review his plan.

He was going to walk through a plasma duct to the CO office on deck
1, place the bomb and rig it to detonate 15 seconds after someone
entered the place. He would place the bomb under the desk, so Ruane
would get a good fright, but won't be harm.

The plasma duct posed a lot of problems. He had to reroute the plasma
flow through another conduit and bypass the computer alert mechanism.
There was still the risk that someone would notice the rerouting and
try to fix it, in which case Z'Dark would be transformed into ashes
in a couple of miliseconds. The risks of the job.

Sincerely,
Zahn Z'Dark

NRPG: Phil: are you ready ?

**Scene: DS 101, Ruane's Office**

Graeme looked at the report from navigation.

"Damn!" He said out loud, the report showed a pattern to the attacks
by the Dergrad; it seemed the rebels had been careless, placing their
attacks almost in a circle around what could either be their base...or a
trap. Ruane stood and left his office, he walked out into the Console
Room, the odd head turned but everybody was a little too busy with the
heavy traffic to pay much attention. Ruane hated to do this when the
station was so busy and tension high, but he had to interupt the busiest
person right now. He walked down the steps into the centre of the
Console room and then walked into the central hole that contained the
navigation and engineering officers.

"Ensign Wilson, I don't mean to bother you but is this report the
latest?"

"No Captain, I have yet to add the vessel attacked on the
Vurtedion/Dergrad border. I can do it now..."

"Yes, please do." Graeme waited as Ensign Wilson tapped at his
console and updated the map for the Captain. As he waited he saw that
Turik was looking at his screen puzzled.

"What's up Mr.Radjan?" Graeme asked walking the short distance to the
Vulcan CEO.

"For some reason the plasma conduit behind your office has shut down,
the flow has been redirected, I'm fixing it now. I assume it's just a
built in safety function...everything should be sorted in a minute or
two." Turik ran his hands along the console casually, in no hury to fix
a problem that made little difference to the station; it just looked
untidy on the displays.

"I'll leave you to it then." Graeme said, the CNO handed him a PADD
containing the updated map. Ruane thanked him and returned to his
office. Graeme walked towards his desk looking over the PADD, there was
a definate pattern, he moved towards his desk ordering the computer to
relay the data on the PADD to the BANGALORE. As he put the PADD down he
felt a force like running straight into a brick wall. His legs could no
longer feel the ground, every limb scrambled about in hope of finding
something secure and his eyes were blinded briefly by the flash, the
noise burst his ear drums. He knew as he flew towards the far wall that
he wasn't going to die, but other things were on his mind, mainly the
fact that he would very soon have a broken leg or two.

**Scene: Console Room.**

Roberts looked up in horror as he heard the explosion and saw the door
to Ruane's office buckle slightly. The rest of the current watch did
the same. Robert's tapped his comm badge.

"Roberts to sickbay, we have a medical emergency in the Captain's
office!" He ran towards the doors, he and Turik forced them open.

"Captain!" He called out through the smoke, the desk was on fire as
was some of the wooden furnishings Ruane insisted on bringing over from
the CURIE. Roberts walked through the smoke to where he saw a shadow
that matched Ruane's form, he then heard a cough. He ran forward and
grabbed Ruane, Turik did the same and they dragged him out quickly; as
they left the office the automatic fire defences finally kicked in.
They rested Ruane on the floor once they were clear. His eyes were
open, his uniform was scorched and his left arm was bleeding, several
other scratches marked his form.

"That was close!" He smiled, slowly he managed to stand up, still
coughing, he brushed off his uniform and looked at his office; sprinkler
system raining heavily down on one scorched corner, a large puddle was
growing quickly. Roberts looked at him in shock, barely able to believe
that Ruane was okay after what SOUNDED like a rather bad explosion.
Then he saw Ruane wince and reach for his left arm.

"Broken." He uttered simply, teeth clenched. Roberts steadied him as
he nearly fainted.

  "What happened?" Roberts asked.

"Something exploded." Ruane said simply, a tint of a cheerful tone
coming across through a pained voice. At that moment the medical crews
arrived and took Ruane to the medical lab.

**Scene: USS BANGALORE, Bridge**

"We are approaching the co-ordinates of the last attack commander.
Dropping out of warp." Harrison reported, the stars stopped passing by
as lines and became still pin-pricks of light.

"Scan for debris." She ordered the science officer.

"Debris matches that of the freighter destroyed at these co-ordinates,
a small amount of other debris indicates the attackers may have been
damaged slightly." Before Alyza responded Harrison gave another report.

"LtCmdr. Some data coming from the station. A map of the recent
attacks."

"Put it on screen Lieutenant." Harrison complied. The image appeared
of the local space, it showed the position of the attacks in a rough
circle around one system; the Geramuni system as the Dergrad called it.
Alyza studied it.

"Any thoughts on this diagram?" She asked, she had her own ideas but
she would rather hear those of the others.

Scean: Shuttle from SB Omega to DS101

On Board: Ens. Michael McLeary, (NPC) Grodak, and the Bajoran pilot

Six hours had passed since the shuttle had left Star Base Omega and
hardly a word had been spoken between the three aboard. The pilot, a
hard looking Bajoran, made very little conversation. He was all
business. Mick wasn't sure how long the trip would take but was told
it could take a long time if they had to keep out of the way of
Vurtedion/Dergrad border. There seems to be some kind of conflict
here and this shuttle had very little protection.

The other passenger was a Vulcan named Grodak. That was about all he
could get out of him. He was very secretive about why he was going to
DS101. He had said that he studied the Kohlinar for the past three
years and was now traveling to the far reaches of space to experience
the inner aura of the galaxy. Frankly, Mick did't believe a word of
it but figured there would be nothing gained by antaginizing his
traveling companion.

"History and archeology have always intregued me", Mick continued the
- almost - one way conversation. "Take that of Vulcan. From its
earliest beginnings of struggle came a peace of will and mind that has
stood the test of time."

Grodak lifted one eyebrow showing the slightest interest. "You know of
these things?" He pondered.

"I have read some of the teaching of Surak, though for the life of me,
I do not understand them. It would seem to me that to control all
emotion would be just a harmfull as to not control oneself at all."
Mick was tugging at the mind of the quiet Vulcan. He just had to get
some conversation going to while away this long and boaring trip.

It occured to him that he knew little to nothing about this area of
space, or that of DS101. He was to be an Archeological Specialist.
But what was he to study. He had no luck searching the SB Omega
files or Holoworld archives on SB101 and the surrounding systems. He
knew of only two races out here, the Vurtedions and the Dergrad.
There seems to be some kind of fight between them and the Federation
is somewhere in the middle.

"It was the time of the Awakening and his teachings led to the
civilization we now have on Vulcan." Grodak continued.

Mick realized he had opened the conversation and wasn't paying
attention. He put his thoughts aside and continued the conversation
about Vulcan history.

"Wilson, advice all ships that they are to remain at their current
holding positions until further notice. Any ships in dock are to be locked
down.", said Roberts.
"Aye sir. What if they try to leave?"
"Tractor the ship and beam the entire crew to the brig. You can
also include that with the announcement.", said Roberts. Turning, he saw
Ensign Kirk emerge from the turbolift. Roberts rolled his eyes. With
someone attempting to kill the captain Roberts would have preferred
someone more experienced with security matters. As the way things stood,
Roberts would have to use what resources he had.
"I got the news about what happened.", said Kirk. Has anyone been
in the captain's Ready Room since the explosion?"
"No.", said Roberts with a serious tone. "I sealed off the room
for the moment. I've been busy making sure no ships would leave and
sealing off other critical areas of the station."
"I'd like to examine the Ready Room for evidence and clues.", said
Kirk. Roberts nodded. Handing Kirk a tricorder, and with one in his hand,
Roberts went to the door of the Ready Room.
"Computer, deactivate security seal to this door. Authorization
Roberts GAMMA-2-5."
The field went down and both men entered the room. Debris was
scatterred throughout the room. Smoke from the blast still lingered,
providing an awful smell to the investigators. Ignoring the stench, both
Roberts and Kirk began scanning the room, doing a systematic sweep of the
area.
"I detecting the remainants of what was an antizanal bomb.", said
Roberts.
"Same here.", said Kirk. He moved to where Ruane's desk used to
be. "The concentration of compounds is strongest here. This is where the
bomb was placed. I'm not picking up any residual transporter signals."
Roberts went over to where Kirk was and looked at his tricorder
readings. "That means whoever did this was physically in the room. Would
there be any DNA traces left?"
Kirk shook his head. "No, the blast would have eradicated any
traces. I'm not picking up anything." Kirk noticed that Roberts was deep
in thought. The next second, Roberts bolted from the Ready Room. Kirk
followed him, wondering what the Specialist was up to.
In the Console Room, Kirk saw Roberts at a console inputing a
variety of commands. Kirk stepped in the frontal part of the console to
see what Roberts was doing.
"You mind telling me what you are doing?"
Roberts looked at Krik. "Just before the explosion Ensign Wilson
commented that the plasma conduit behind the Captain's office was
rerouted. With no plasma running there a person could have slipped inside
the office and planted the bomb. I've alculated the potential time it
would take for someone to get out of the conduits and access ports and
have erected force fields around the potential area."
"Without knowing the species, you don't know how fast they can
escape.", reminded Kirk.
"I know, but it's all we have to go on right now.", said Roberts.
"I'm heading down to sickbay to see how the Captain is and to report on
our status."
"Alright, I'll have security begin sweeping the blocked off
areas.", said Kirk.

SCENE: DS 101 M'Beya's shop
TIME: 2203

SD 90318.2340

The door locked, Jefferson was bent over the screen of his terminal that
was linked to the Gremlin's computer that in turn was linked to the
holographic quantum scanner he had set up on his desk.

"Now let's see what we can figure out with this one ...", he mumbled to
himself, finding the powerup tests and calibration verification adequate. He
touched a button at the bottom of the device and the glass cylinder lowered
itself, exposing the scanning space to his access. Digging the alien
artifact from his pocket, he wiped any pocket fluff it might have gathered
off against his robe before placing it inside and closing the cylinder
again.

"Computer, initialize low resolution survey scan." The space inside the
cylinder was swept by pulses of blue light for a few seconds, then a picture
popped up on the terminal screen.

"Curious", M'Beya said, "Computer, a high resolution sweep of the entire
object, full frequency band." More blue light activity cast ghostly shadows
against the office walls.

"Damn it", Jefferson said. The object was completely opaque to the
scanner. "That's theoretically impossible." He drummed his fingers on the
desk for a few seconds, pondering his options. Taking this to the science
department was equally impossible, running a resonance scan might destroy
the object if it had a crystalline internal structure. He lowered the
cylinder and weighted the artifact in his palm for a few seconds before
closing his fingers around it.

He would first have to find out more about either the object or the place
where it had come from. It might be the time to take the Gremlin out for a
spin to a certain location at the Dergrad border.

J'nete and Dr. Martha Kendle were enjoying lunch together. J'nete
was telling Martha how Roberts agreed to let her help at TriCON INC and of
the friends she had already made with some of the store merchants on The
Mall. Martha listened intently, happy to see that J'nete would fit in
here. When J'nete finished talking both sat silently for a moment.
"I never got to tell you how thankful I am you took care of me.",
said J'nete.
"You don't need to say that, honey. I know you are in your
heart.", said Kendle.
"I feel bad about leaving you.", said the young Cardassian.
"You don't need to ever feel bad about staying here. This is where
you belong. John will take good care of you. Besides, I can always come
back and visit."
"How long 'till you have to go?", asked J'nete.
"Well, with all the problems with the Dergrad it looks that if the
GALAXY won't be leaving anytime soon. And my report to Starfleet
Specialist Division is complete. So it looks like I'll have plenty of free
time.", said Kendle as she smiled.
"I don't understand why Starfleet has a division when no one is in
the program.", said J'nete.
"The truth is that the program will be officially disbanded once I
return I present my report. It was conceived to accomodate John's
extraordinary learning abilities when he enrolled in Starfleet. With the
probability of another super-genius being found practically nill, there's
no reason to continue the program."
"What will you do then?", asked J'nete.
"I'll still be working for Starfleet concerning John in the near
future. I just won't have the added baggage of running a whole department.
I'll probably return to teaching at Oxnard."
Martha noticed from behind J'nete that Roberts had entered the
Club.
"John. Over here.", called Martha. Roberts went over to them in a
rush. Martha could tell something was wrong.
	"What is it?", she asked.
"Someone tried to kill Captain Ruane a little while ago.", he
said.
"Ohmygod! Is he alright?", asked Kendle, startled by the news.
"He'll be fine. I'm on my way to sickbay to see him. But I wanted
to come by and asked both of you to return to the GALAXY and remain there
for the time being."
"Is the station in danger?", asked J'nete.
"We don't know exactly what we're dealing with. Security on the
station isn't as tight as it is on a starship. I'd feel better if you both
were there."
"Alright.", said Kendle, knowing that Roberts was dead serious
about his request.
"What if something happens to you?", asked J'nete with a worried
tone.
"Don't worry.", said Roberts smiling. "Nothing is going to happen
to me, or anyone else here. Now let's go, I'll walk you to the airlock."

Bridge of the USS Banglore

Lt.Cmdr. Alyza was waiting for suggestions, when 6 Dergred ships came out
of hidding.

"Cmdr. 6 Degred ships closing fast" announced Ens Velez at tachtical.

"Red alert, raise shields and hail the Dergred." ordered Alyza "We do not
yet know if these are rebels or ships obedient to their empire"

"A reply is coming in from on of the vessels, audio only."

"Let's hear it, Mr. Velez [NRPG: I still do not know if Velez is male or
female]"

An aggressive voice was heard on the bridge. <> That was the entire transmition.

"The vessels are powering up their weapons" announced Velez.

"Evasive maneuver Delta-3" ordered Alyza.

Harrison responded immediately [NRPG: I am assuming that on a ship as small
as the Banglore, ops and helm would be run by one person]

They would have been completely surrounded by hostile Dergred vessels, had
the maneuver not succeeded. As it was, they were still highly outnumbered
and outgunned. The Banglore would have been easily able to deal with 2,
maybe 3 Dergred vessels, but not 6. Alyza was fully aware of the odds
against them, to the nearest 4 decimal digits [NRPG: It's a Vulcan thing
:-)]. Fortunately, the Samurai class vessel was fast, very fast. They
would be able to out run the Dergred vessels once they left the gravity
well of the solar system in which they currently were.

"Plot a course out of the solar system, maximum impulse." ordered Alyza.

At that moment, more Dergred ships moved in from their hidden location
behind a planet and blocked their way out. The high exridium content of
the planet had blocked the vessels from the Banglore's sensors.

Thinking fast, Alyza ordered the ship towards the star of this system, they
would circle it and either exit the solar system in another direction, or
go into the sun's corrona. If that was necessary, some modifications of the
shields would be needed, and fast.

"Ens Johnathan Elliot" Alyza called to the aCEO of the Banglore

"Here sir"

"I want you to modify the shields so they meet metaphasic standards, we may
have to take the ship into the sun's corona." Alyza, having studied
engineering in Starfleet Academy, knew that such modifications would not
take long.

The Banglore was being fired upon, dispite their manuvers. They just could
not move fast enough inside a solar system.

"Shields at 90%" came the report "Damage to sensors".

-------------
NRPG: Okay, the stage is set, how about a post from Aaron and Phil? Will
we be able to hide in the sun's corona? Do they find an avenue of escape?
Or do they end up taking a trip back in time? Obviously, help from DS 101
is unlikely until the attack on Ruane is resolved.

Scene: Deck 4, Lt. Evans' quarters

Zahn activated the door chime and waited patiently. The door slid open
and he heard Shastas voice: "Come in, I won't be a second"

He entered and examined the low couch Evans had in her quarters. It
didn't look fit for kzin anathomy so he sat down on his hind legs, right
on the floor. Shasta appeared out of the nearby chamber and looked at him
stunned. She recovered quickly and said "I'm sorry, I wasn't expecting
you. What can I do for you?"

"I have some information I must pass on to Ruane. Also it must reach the
ears of Reginald and I have no means of communicating with them." Seeing
that she started to protest, he raised his paw. "May I remind you that
Kzins regard outright lying as a capital offence? I will be gone in a few
seconds."

"There was an explosion, apparently meant to kill Ruane apparently set up
by the Vurtedions. No, don't say a thing" he said. "Actually, it was me
who set up the explosion, I took special care to hurt Ruane as little as
possible. The Dergads paid me to make it look like a failed Vurtedion
attempt on Ruane's life."

"Why are you telling me all this?"

"I'm sure you know what to do with the info. See you around", he said and
left.

Dr.Morookian looked over Ruane one last time.

"I really think you go a little over the top, doctor."

"I'm just interested Captain. You've made a speedy recovery; the
regenerators have barely had to do anything to you, your body has done
most of it itself."

"Is that suprising; I've died twice and here I am." Graeme smiled,
swinging his feet over the bed to sit up.

"I suppose. I'd be interested to work out how all this works..."

"Believe me, so would I." As Graeme started thinking about standing
up he saw the form of Ensign Roberts entering the lab.

"Ah, Ensign Roberts." He called, his tone remarkably friendly and
cheerful.

"Captain." Roberts nodded. "How are you?" He asked.

"I'm fine thank you John." Graeme paused and let his voice sound
serious for the first time since the explosion.

  "What have you found?"

"It was an antizanal device; we only know of a few races that use them
- a couple of them are around the station, the other are the Vurtedion."

"The Vurtedion? It won't have been them." Graeme said getting to his
feet.

  "What has Kirk found?"

"Nothing as yet, the access ports around your office have been sealed
and he is scanning for any traces of DNA..." Roberts was interupted by
the voice of Kirk.

  [Kirk to Roberts.]

"Roberts here, I'm with the Captain." John said tapping his comm
badge.

[I've found something interested; a residual transporter signal. From
what I can tell it was a portable sight-to-sight transporter.]

"Can you trace the location that the culprit beamed to?" Graeme
decided it was his turn to speak.

[Captain, yes, and that's the puzzling part. The signal indicates
whoever beamed out materialised right inside the plasma conduit just
after the flow of plasma had returned to normal. They would have been
vaporized instantly.] It wasn't only Kirk who was puzzled now, Ruane
and Roberts both looked baffled.

"Okay Ensign, we're on our way." Graeme said, then paused as Kirk
finished his report.

[I think you should know; there is more. I've found a trace of
Vurtedion DNA, I have a guess as to why it is only located here.]

"Understood. See you in few minutes." Graeme said thanked Dan
Morookian before heading out of the medical lab closely followed by
Ensign Roberts. Roberts kept his hand on his phaser ready for anymore
trouble that might come his and the Captain's way.

All: I guess the bounty hunter was pretty thorough in ensuring that he
could be implicated in no way, and that their was no doubt the Vurtedion
did this. :)

Rob: Dear me, a superhuman reduced to the role of bodyguard. The
tension is rising indeed. :)

Aaron: Can you please post something for the BANGALORE on behalf of the
two NPC's you have onboard; I think it's time that the BANGALORE saw a
little action post wise, it is in the heart of rebel space after all.:)

Armin: Is anybody likely to notice blue flashing lights in M'Beya's
shop? :)

"Ok, lets get working." Elliot said, after hearing the order from
the bridge. The crew around him spred out, also hearing the order.

"I want the mediphasic shields up asap!" He said.

The appropraite changes were made, very quickly.

	"Elliot to bridge"

	[Alyza here.]

"The shields are ready, but don't go too far in, the Structrual
intregrity field is working at only 82% efficiency, but we are fixing it
right now."

	[Very well. Alyza out]

The conversation was quite short, but she was a Vulcan. He made
his own communication link to the bridge, just to listen in on the
happings while he made the proper adjustments to the shields.

[Set a course to the sun] Alyza said simply.

[Course set] the OPS officer said. [The Dergred are persuing us.]

[Entering the suns corona] Harrison said. Elliot made the correct
changes to the shields as needed. [As for the Dergred, the corona is
still in our way, I can't see them.]

"I'll get fixing the sensors." Elliot said, quickly. He then ran
across engineering to the terminal he needed.

[Keep us in here, in an orbit in the sun. Elliot, get those
sensors fixed.] Alyza said.

"Aye Aye commander!" He said, scanning the forward sensors to
find out what the problem was. "Danus!" He yelled to the Trill, working
on the shields. He looked up from the terminal, and walkd over.

	"Yeah?" He asked

"We gotta go to the forward sensors, we got some fried circits"
Elliot said, gathering up some loose engineering equipment into a case.

"ok, I'll get some equipment now, lets go."

Scene: Sensor array.

"Damn, look at these!" Elliot said, looking at the black circit boards.

"Lets get to work." Danus said, opening his case.
