**Scene: Deck 3, Ruane's Quarters**

Ruane sighed heavily as he hit the door to open his quarters. It had
been a long day and still security had turned up nothing. He would have
to have Hogan revise the security operations of the station on his
return. As the door opened Ruane threw off his hat and practically fell
into his comfy chair. Graeme sat slumped in the chair staring at wall
blankly. The door had closed leaving Ruane with no more light than that
provided by the Amgine Nebula.
The huge expanse of coloured gasses that would one day become stars
practically filled every view from this side of the station...the
enormous stellar womb sending a sense of wonder through all those that
looked at it; but for some reason, today, Graeme prefered his grey and
plain wall.

Eventually Graeme managed to muster the resolve to stand up and shave.
He moved to his bath room and took out his shaver, he began to trim away
the faint stubble. As he tidied himself up a silent figure crept into
his room.
Ruane placed his shaver down, as he moved his hand towards a towel he
knocked over a bottle of aftershave.

  "Damn."
The top came off and the transparent golden liquid spilt down his
sink, girgling in the plug hole. He picked up the bottle and placed it
back on the sinks shelf, then continued to dry his face, looking in the
mirror...

The mirror. Ruane was just in time, he dropped to the floor, avoiding
the blade of an assasin. As he fell to the floor he swung his elbow
upwards into the mid-section of his would be killer. She fell to the
floor groaning, her hood uncovering her green face. The orion slave
girl's face was screwed up as she lay on the floor in pain. Ruane took
his chance to bind the girl to a chair. She didnt struggle. Once she was
secure he moved to tap his comm badge.

"Wait!" She cried. Graeme's hand hovered near his comm badge, he
waited.

"Why should I?" He spat back, in a tone he rarely used. He was just
about fed up of people trying to kill him...especially as these 'trained
assasins' had an uncanny knack of failing miserably to do their job.
Admitedly one person had succeeded in killing him, but he could have
hardly escaped a knife whilst held still for Lt.K'vel Rolok of the
mirror universe.

  "Because I can help you?"

"Why should I trust anything you say; you've just tried to kill me!"

"Believe me Captain, if I really wanted to kill you, you would be dead
by now." Her eyes were cold as steel and despite her beauty(and her
natural pheromones which were even now affecting him), she sent a chill
down Ruane's spine. He believed her.

"So, you want to help me?" Ruane asked after a long pause...

Rissa bit her lower lip. She *had* missed her mark on purpose by
allowing him to see her in his mirror, but had been honorbound to at
least make the attempt. The upraised knife also wasnt her usual wont,
and the blow to her midsection would never have landed there had she not
allowed it. But the only way she could think of to gain his trust and
he hers, was to place herself in his power. Even if he handed her over
to security, she'd at least be safe there for a little while, but not
for long.

She would have to trust him, so the words rushed out of her mouth before
she could stop them. She told him everything, even things that Zack knew
nothing about. Her past as a trained assassin, how she had honestly
missed her mark on Captain Kwhinai due to the abrupt departure of the
REGULATOR, and her subsequent stowing away on said vessel. She also
told him of her past, her cruel childhood. Not so that he would feel
sorry for her, but that he knew, and could understand her odd code of
honor. Then she told him of the plan the vulcans had for him and Selak.

"So you see...it is imperative that you appear dead. It is vital for
your, Selak and my safety. If you send me to security, then we are all
dead." she looked up at Ruane. Within her eyes there was no hope, only a
desperate need to survive.

"It was you that killed the Nausicaan by the plasma leak," respect for
her abilities began to show in his attitude. "Alright...what do you
propose?" he undid her bonds as she spoke....

Timeframe: The Next Morning

Graeme Ruane walked along The Mall as he had done everymorning since
it had been finished, he took in the surroundings and the traffic.
Business had picked up once more now that traders knew that Starfleet
was doing something to protect them from the Dergrad's Religious rebels.
This time Graeme's walk was different, this time he would be killed; or
so it would appear to any onlookers; even the most scrupulous of
personages. Not even security knew of the plan made by Rissa and Ruane
the previous night...it was a complete secret; known only to Rissa and
Ruane...he just wished there was an easy way around the problem, but the
isolationist movement would have to be satisfied completly that he had
died else they would try again; kill Rissa, Selak and himself.

Ruane reached the centre of The Mall to see a silver ball rolling
towards him, it had several coloured lights flashing in various
locations...he picked it up to inspect it, as though he didn't know what
it was. A security guard spotted him and rushed forward.

"Captain!" He shouted in warning, but he was too late; the Captain
disappeared in a giant flash, on the floor in his place was left some
carbon scoring from the explosion. A hooded figure crept away from the
scene and disappeared into an access duct.

**Scene: USS BANGALORE: Bridge**

Selak approached the upper docking pilon reserved for the BANGALORE
slowly, easing the small ship into position for docking. An order for
all stop came from LtCmdr.Alyza as the vessel reached it's
position...then the sounds of docking clamps and airlocks being
established echoed throughout the ship. A procession consisting of DS
101 and the BANGALORE's command staff exited the vessel and headed for
the Console Room.

**Scene: Shuttle Bay 1: The Freighter JADE**

Ruane looked around him as he materialised in the cargo bay of his old
Freighter. The silver 'bomb' in his hands. He checked the readouts on
the chameleon devise fitted to this particular room in his vessel; it
was fully operational, nobody would know he was here even if they
performed a detailed scan.

**Scene: Console Room**

LtCmdr.Alyza entered the Console Room to be greated by a depressed
looking crew. LtCmdr.Alyza walked to Lt.Platt,

  "Report." She ordered.

"Five minutes ago Captain Ruane was killed in The Mall by an unknown
devise, this followed the murder of a Nausicaan and a security guard.
The deaths are linked to the presence of members of the Vulcan
isolationist movement." Platt reported solumnly, he handed over a PADD
with the rest of the details. As Alyza looked over it, and the
station's command crew lowered their heads a slended woman dressed in
black entered the console room, she had recently been crying.

  "W...what happened?" Asked Michelle Gordon.

"We have yet to determine that Miss.Gordon." Alyza answered flatly.
Then the half-vulcan, half-Bajoran turned to Lt.Hogan.
"You are to begin an investigation immediatly Lt.Hogan."

  "Yes sir."

"Miss.Gordon, we will do our best to determine the motives behind the
Captain's murder, meanwhile may I suggest you see a counselor?"

**Scene: Deck 3: Selak's Quarters, Ten Minutes later**

Selak walked slowly into his quarters, his head dropped in sorrow at
the death of his commanding officer, he hadn't known him long, but the
death of a CO hit a crew hard especially when there appeared no clear
reason for it. Selak dropped into his chair by his computer terminal
and called up the messages left to him. There was one from his father,
but he skipped it to view a message that flashed urgent...it was from
Captain Graeme Philip Ruane...

"Computer, initiate security lockdown of all docking clamps and
shuttlebays. Authorization Roberts Delta-5-1-Phi.", said the Lt. as he sat
in his console position.
"Are all ships secured?", asked Alyza.
"Affirmative.", said Roberts. "Luckily all ships around the
station were docked. According to records only one ship left, and that was
at the time when the Captain was killed."
"Try and locate the ship. We cannot allow any potential leads to
elude us.", said Alyza.
"I've got the records of the ship. It was a Bolian freigther
carrying Andorian fleece." Roberts looked at the name of the ship. "Alyza,
I recognize the name of the ship. It's been doing business with TriCON
INC. for a number of months." He looked up at the Vulcan. "I'll talk to
Nancy and Brax to see if they can provide any information about the ship."
"Is there a starship near its location at present?", asked Alyza.
"Yes, the starship MONTANA is only an hour from the freighter.",
responded Roberts.
"Contact the MONTANA and have them detain the freighter.", ordered
Alyza.
"Already on it.", said Roberts as he sent the request over
subspace.

Scene: TriCON INC.
"This is a list of the planets the OR'GAI went to.", said Nancy as
she handed the PADD to Roberts. Scrolling through the list, Roberts shook
his head. Nothing of interest appeared.
As Roberts examined the list, Brax entered the office, also
carrying a PADD.
"This is the results of the molecular scan the work crew took on
the OR'GAI.", said the Ferengi. Roberts took that PADD and looked at the
information on it.
"Why was a scan done on the OR'GAI?", asked Roberts.
"The OR'GAI had delievered a shipment of Telerite bio-crystals.
The crystals leave a powdery residue when moved through space. The OR'GAI
had to be cleaned and scnned to insure no powder remained.", said Brax.
After reading the information, Roberts handed the PADD back to
Brax, a dismayed look on his face.
"This doesn't help you, does it.", said Nancy.
"No. I think it's safe to say the OR'GAI had nothing to do with
the Captain's death. That means the killer is still on the station. I
better let Alyza know that the OR'GAI can be ruled out."
Roberts left the office of TriCON INC.
"Father.", came a familiar voice. Roberts turned and saw J'nete
approaching. Both father and daughter hugged each other.
"I'm so glad to see you.", said Roberts.
"I missed you so much.", said J'nete.
Roberts looked at his daughter for the longest time. "I wish I
could spend the rest of the day with you."
J'nete's smile was replaced with a serious look. "I know. You're
looking for who killed Captain Ruane."
"With him gone Alyza has to assume his responsibilities and I have
to assume her duties of executive officer.", said Roberts. "Let me walk
you back to our quarters."
"You're worried that we might be in danger?", asked J'nete.
"I don't know why the Captain was killed. Until I do I don't want
to place you in any danger. You'll be safe in our quarters.

Jefferson M'Beya turned on the heel of his left boot, entering another leg
of his seemingly endless pacing between pressure doors 55 and 63, when the
speaker announced the news he had been waiting for most of the afternoon.

"Federation freighter Sumaar docking at bay 7. Stand clear of airlocks."

"Finally", he exclaimed, throwing his hands in the air, "There's nobody
more prone to idle around than an Andorian." He strode for the airlock and
arrived with the supercargo and customs officer, both who gave him a strange
look.

"Expecting an urgent delivery, doctor?", the customs officer, actually a
member of the security staff wearing another hat due to personnel shortage,
asked curiously.

"Expecting the whole damn ship for three days now. If anything in there
perished make sure they will take it back with them and not throw it over
board. I paid good money for it and I'll be damned if they don't return it
to Bajor if they let it spoil." The airlock hissed open and revealed a
Bajoran, complete with earring.

"What held you up?", Jefferson growled, "And is my cargo ok?"

"Your cargo is fine. What held us up? Pirates did. We've almost been raided
in between Negdren and Tervilar by some cocky Na-Chem. Luckily a patrol from
Cocoon One chased them away before they could do serious damage."

"The Na-Chem do not attack Federation vessels", the customs officer shook his
head.

"Well, you know that and I know that, but did someone tell them?", the
Bajoran asked, "If you don't believe me, why don't you get your EVA suit and
take a look at the scars on the hull?" Jefferson made some grimaces, trying
to convey that he was talking to the person who'd have to clear the cargo.

"Anyway", the Bajoran continued before anyone could get a word in, "Since we
are aware of the urgency of your delivery and the perishable - and not to
forget, strongly scented - nature of some of the livestock ..."

"Livestock? This will require special quarantine", the customs officer said,
a happy smile creeping on his face.

"... As I was saying", the Bajoran said, giving the man an indignant look,
"The Captain decided that it would further our business relations if we'd
make the final delivery to the destination ourselves." He smiled at Jefferson
as if he was offering him a special favour.

"... and scout out the location of my customer, to make all future deals
without a broker, no doubt", M'Beya said as if he was reading his mind. For
a moment, the Bajoran stared at him for signs that his informations about the
good doctor were wrong and he was in fact betazoid.

"I appreciate the Captain's offer and thankfully accept it .. before these
witnesses. Fortunately the colony has provided me with an exclusive trader's
license for the next 36 months. You will understand ... a man got to make his
living."

"Colony?", the customs officer asked, "There is no colony out here."

"As the crew of the Bangalore could confirm, there is", Jefferson said
smugly, "And seeing that there will be no cargo brought aboard, I think your
job is done."

"I will have to report this to Captain Ruane", the man said weakly.

"Do that, good man", Jefferson grinned, patting him on the shoulder. "And
you and this cutthroat Captain of yours, I want to see you in my shop in an
hour if you expect payment." With that, he turned and marched out of the
docking bay. He really hated to waste an afternoon for the small satisfactions
that came with the look of disappointment on a bureaucrat's face.

straight for the cockpit. "How long till we leave dad?"

Jeremy looked up at his father as if saying 'You must be jokeing'. "No im
not, no go get some sleep. Im going to be very bussy once we get to the

corridor to the small quarters in the back of the shuttle. Lucas sat down
at the controls and started to get the shuttle ready for flight.

"Could you please show us the way our qourters first, I would like to

Selak called up the message from his Ex-Captain.

***** From: Captain Graeme Philip Ruane. *****
              ***** Commanding officer DS 101. *****

           ***** To: Ensign Selak FCO/CNO DS 101. *****

I regret to inform you that 3 Romulans, led by an Ex Lt Commander
Vetak, a former crew member serving under your father, has come aboard
in an attempt to assassinate you.
It also appears that your father is involved with the Vulcan
Isolationist's and is aiding them. The last report that Alyza will
have lists your father as abducted, however I now believe this to be
untrue. Since this information is known to be in my hands, I have also
become a target. This message is a warning in case I am not successful
in avoiding assassination.

Selak paused the message and sat back in is chair. He could not
believe that this could be true of his father, yet he found it
difficult to believe his Co....... Ex Co. could be lying.
He then remembered the man he saw in club 101 before the mission.
It was Vetak. Selak had not seen him since he was a child, he had been
a regular visitor to his home back then.
He continued reading the message. The rest of it contained a detailed
description of the conversation Ruane had with Rissa, but made no
mention of his plans to fake his death.
Strangely, the revelations had no effect on Selak's emotions. He was
more concerned at the gnawing feeling that something was wrong.
Why take the risk of recruiting this Orion girl to do the job when the
Romulans could have done it themselves.
It was almost as if someone wanted the attempt to fail and why had the
Captain been assassinated so easily when he had been expecting the
attempt.............. Unless he was not dead.
Selak was sure that was the answer. He dare not report this in case
the assassins got word of it. Ruane wanted to remain hidden and Selak
was not about to damage his safety by saying anything to anyone.
It was then that he remembered the message from his father.

                 ***** From: Admiral Tulok. *****

           ***** To: Ensign Selak FCO/CNO DS 101. *****

Only in death will you find peace.

MENE SAKKHET UR-SEVEH (Live long and prosper.)

                     ***** Message ends. *****

Selak realised what his father was trying to say and he realised what
he had to do.
He removed his communicator pin and placed it on the floor. Next he
changed into a civilian Vulcan robe, the type with a hood and then
took a knife from his display. He made a small cut to his finger and
allowed the blood to drip on the floor. finally after erasing the
messages on his terminal, he took a Phaser set it to the highest
level and fired it around the room.
Alarms started ringing out all over the station as Selak left his
quarters in search of his father.

**Scene: DS 101, Ops**

"Commander, there has been phaser fire in Ensign Selak's quarters."
Said Lt. Hogan. Alarmed.

"Alyza to Selak. Respond please." .......(No answer).

"Computer, locate Ensign Selak." Said Zack.

"Lt, take a security team to deck 3 immediately." Said Alyza.

NRPG:
All: A Tricorder scan of Selak's quarters will find the traces of his
blood on the floor, but a more detailed scan should reveal it to be a
hoax. Selak's intentions were to give him some time to do some
investigating and not to fool everyone permanently.
The robe he is wearing is similar in design to the one Spock wore on
Vulcan, at the start of "The voyage home." It has his family name
embroidered in gold on the front, so he should be easily spotted by
the assassins but should pass as any other civilian to the security
teams.

Phil: Do you want to post some more to this story? If so, please feel
free to have Selak do what you want. (I have no definite plans where
this story is heading.)

Ben: Welcome aboard, I may have a little job for you soon.

Scene: Security Offices

Zack played the tape for the thousandth time. There was Captain Ruane
strolling along the Mall strip, then the silver ball and poof. Zack
pounded his hand on his desk.

That was about the extent of an emotional outburst that he'd allow himself
even though he was completely alone in the station's security office.

Zack bent over his desk and ran his hands through his short hair, *To top
it off, Rissa's gone.*

Upon arriving back on station, Zack had been welcomed by a ransacked
apartment, and an assassinated CO. To say the least, Zack was now living
any CSO's nightmare. Still, he retained full control of his emotions, at
least outwardly. Right now, the turmoil was nearly boiling over inside of
him. He was pissed to say the least, and he was going to find Rissa, and
he was going to find the person's responsible for killing Ruane.

Zack stretched back in his office chair, formulating a plan of action.
Without warning, the desk PADD alarm went off. Immediately, he recognized
the alarm code. *Selak's quarters.*

["Station Ops to Lt(jg) Hogan."]

"Hogan here," Zack recognized Alyza's toneless voice.

["Security to Selak's quarters."]

"I'm on it!" Zack shouted grabbing his standard issue phaser from his desk
drawer and hitting the door at a run. "Lt(jg) Hogan to Ens. Selak."

No response. Zack pumped his legs faster as he made it to the lift.

Ten seconds later, Zack was outside Selak's quarters with two of his team.
"Cover me as I go in," ordered Zack.

Quickly, he hit the annunciator. No response again. "Computer locate,
Ens. Selak."

[Ens. Selak is in his quarters, deck...]

Zack didn't wait for the rest. "Security override,
Beta-Epsilon-Indi-3-4-7."

The doors slid open to reveal an empty room, with the exception of a comm
badge and small blood stains on the floor.

Zack silently cursed himself.

[SNIP]
Scene: Security Offices

Zack had been sitting in his office for the last past four hours. It was
getting late into the night, but Zack refused to give in. He had manually
scanned the station's entire embarkation logs for the past three days.
His eyes stung, as did the rest of his body, but he forced himself on.

"Mannock, Stowe, Caprenter, Druge, M'klack..." Zack silently voiced every
name as he went down the list.

Already, he had placed his teams on double duty. Security had begun a
pincer search of the station. Half the available security had started
searching at deck 1 while the other half began down at the lower levels
with the subspace relay. Security was slowly moving in from both ends of
the station. It would be three days before the careful methodical search
was completed, but every inch of the station would be covered and if the
assassin were still on station, he,she, it would be found.

At least, Selak wasn't dead, or that's what the station's doctor had
theorized. Zack smiled, he had worked with Lucas on the REGULATOR. The
man was good, and it took him no time to ascertain that the scene in
Selak's quarters was a hoax.

Selak had faked his death for a reason, and Zack wasn't going to tip his
hand yet. He had asked the doctor to keep the news on Selak quiet, until
whatever it was that was happening on the station could be solved.

Zack returned to the screen; the names scrolled by and Zack's eyes
narrowed.

>"Course layed in and ready." Responded Christina.

> "Engage." Loquoren ordered, the stars accelerated as the vessel shot
>forward into warp. The Kenarv looked around to see the odd crew member
>smiling as the SAGAN went to warp on her second mission.

Christina, too, was watching the view screen as the ship went into warp.
She was always continually amazed at the sight that could be seen when a
ship went to warp speed - she was facinated, in awe so to speak.

"Ensign," a harsh voice broke her out of her amazement.

"Yes, sir," she replied hoping that the FO had not seen her mouth hanging open.

"As you have not yet met the captain I suggest that you do. You wouldn't
want him to think that you have been too busy to meet your commanding
officer. He is in the ready room - now would be a good time."

"Yes, sir." Christina said as she rose from her chair. This was a moment
that she was looking forward to as well as completely dreading - meeting the
captain. She walked over to the door of the ready room, signalled her
position and waited for the captain to signal that she could enter the room.

"Come in," a voice answered.

Christina entered to see Galen leaning against the back wall of the ready
room staring out into the midst of space, basically the same view as
Christina had been staring at minutes before.

"Ensign Christina Stevens reporting sir." she said assuming an 'at
attention' stance.

"Ahhh my new helms person. Excellent, was wondering when this ship was going
to be 'driven' by someone. Not that Fargo was not doing a great job, I
just like a full complement of staff. Please sit down." Galen indicated to
the nearest chair while he picked up a PADD and punched in a couple of
commands. "It says here in your file that you were spent most of your time
in small town in Australia. Which one?"

Christina was taken back by the question. She knew that Captain Savage was
an Australian but she had not expected that he question her about also being
Australian. Her accent was not pronouced, her use of slang almost nil
although her knowledge of the country that she was born and bread in was
wide and ever expanding. She took a deep breath, determined not to let her
nevousness show through, "Toowoomba, Sir. It is about 150 kilometres outside
Brisbane, the capital of Queensland."

"Ah yes I know the place. The outskirts of the town is famous for the
growth and development of many fruits and organic material. In fact, I
think I have something here on the replicator that you might like or even
know of." With that Galen stood, walked across to the replicator and in a
commanding voice said, "Stanthorpe wine, vintate 2022, 2 glasses please."
In a flash appeared 2 fine wine glasses brimming to the top with white wine.
Galen picked up the glasses, walked over to Christine, handed her a glass
and proposed a toast, "to two Aussie's working on the same bridge of the
same ship. May the Sagan bound across the galaxy like a fine red kangaroo."

Christina smiled at the analogy. She sniffed the wine to savour its smell and
then took a small sip. She could feel the wine slide down her throat and
she almost felt like..................... home.

Galen had taken Hueys advice to heart, and had actually listened for once to
the councilor. Not just with his ears, but with his heart and soul. There
was always things you could hear, that hadnt actually been said. Like
hearing between the lines. Now, in the presence of a fellow
countryman....woman, he began to relax further. It had been a long time
since he was able to talk about home to someone other then his family, and
he used it to full advantage. He also wanted her to feel at ease around him.
It had been his experience that the crew acted and performed better when
they knew that their CO was human too.

He caught himself laughing at one of her anecdotes, when his comchannel beeped.

the voice of Loquoron informed him.

"Very well...please open a channel to DS101, Captain Ruane," he remained
seated and Christina wasnt sure what to do for a moment, then took her cue
from him as he spoke again.

"Well...it looks like duty calls again. If you have no objection, I wouldnt
mind going over the distribution of the shuttles sometime. I havent had a
chance to tour the ship since we moved here from the ATHENE, perhpas you
could inform your staff to get ready for a short inspection?"

"Certainly Sir," she didnt get to finish what else she wanted to say as the
comchannel beeped again....

Bo: Galen will still be awkward around Selene ;)

"I'm sorry Commander, Captain Ruane was assasinated this morning."

**Scene: USS SAGAN, Bridge**

"I'm sorry to hear that. Could you get me the acting CO?" Asked
Loquoren.

[I'll do my best Commander.] Platt closed the link temporarily as he
paged LtCmdr.Alyza, DS 101's first officer; or acting-CO at this time.
It didn't take long before a reply came from Lt.Platt.

[Commander, I'm piping you through to the Captain's...to the LtCmdr's
office.]

  "Thank you Lieutenant."

"Do we have a link?" Captain Savage asked as he walked from his ready
room to the central chair.

"Yes sir, with the acting CO." Loqueron informed him.

  "*Acting* CO?"

"Captain Graeme Ruane was assasinated this morning apparently."
Savage nodded gravely as LtCmdr.Alyza appeared on screen. The woman had
the features of a Vulcan mainly, but there was a slight show of her
half-Bajoran side.

"Good day Captain Savage, how may I help you?" Alyza said in her flat
Vulcan voice...

**Scene: The Mall**

A hooded figure walked slowly around the middle of The Mall,
inspecting the spot where the former CO of DS 101 had been assasinated.
His Vulcan robe hid his features in shadow, but it was obvious he was a
Vulcan from the markings of the white robe. Suddenly the figure stopped
and looked in the direction of one of the doors that allowed access to
the shop rear's for stock intake. He pulled his hood back slightly to
look more closely, moving towards the doors.
Selak's sight was good and it didn't take much close inspection to
notice the tiny blood stain at waist height on the door.
He carefully pulled a tricorder out from his robe and, hiding the
device, ran a scan of the blood; all the time pretending he was looking
in a shop window, on close inspection people would wonder why a Vulcan
was interested in 20th Century hats from Earth.

Eventually the tricorder revealed the owner of the blood, a Nausicaan.
His scan also detected trace elements from a natural pheromone, he
quickly matched it to that excreted by the glands of an Orion female.
He allowed himself a faint smile as he closed his tricorder and placed
it back on his belt beneath the robe. He looked some more at the hats
in the shop display before casually hitting the door release and
disappearing from The Mall into the corridors behind the busy shops.
He took a left instinctivly, he wasn't sure why, but it certainly felt
right. He walked for a couple of minutes, working around the semi-
circle of The Mall, behind Club 101 and behind M'Beya's shop. As he
reached the wall that closed access from the main turbolift the cloaked
Vulcan spotted a grill in the wall. It was slightly loose, taking a
closer look Selak spotted a screw in the walls shadow. A tiny spot of
blood at it's tip. He scanned again; this time it came back as an
Orion's blood. He removed the other screws and took the grill out, he
crawled into the access duct and secured the grill behind him, wiping
the 4th screw and putting it back in. Then he turned and headed down
the tunnel...

Stardate: 90621.1932
Scene: DS 101 The Mall

Zack stolled through the Mall. After hours in his office, he had gotten
nowhere. The embarkation manifest had turned up one interesting name, but
that person was nowhere to be found. To top it off the person's transport
had long since left the station.

"Oh, excuse me," said Zack after bumping into a tall blue-skinned
Alpheccan. *Gotta watch where I'm going.*

"Hurumph," was the only reply from the man as he continued on his way
after noting Zack's gold uniform.

Zack's head was awash with ideas. Could Selak be involved in the CO's
assassination? Naw, he was on the BANGALORE at the time, but could he
have been involved? Passed vital codes to an assassin. And how was Rissa
wrapped up in this, if she was. To add to that, an old friend from the
Academy at Cocoon Security had dropped him a message about rising
activities on Vulcan involving some sort or isolationist movement.

Still all these instances were unconnected, disjointed. There was no way,
Zack could connect it all. All he knew was that if he found Selak, he was
going to arrest him.

Bumping into the Alpheccan caused Zack to stop for a moment. In the
corner of his eyes, he noticed a robed figure staring into a nearby shop.
At first, he cast this figure from his mind, and began to continue his
stroll lost in his thoughts. Then he saw the figure stopped, standing
stock still. Too still for window shopping, according to his instincts.

Zack looked closer and began to have that familiar sensation that he
recognized the figure. *Naw, just too keyed up,* he dismissed the notion
until the figure turned.

Instinctively, Zack ducked into a throng of passerby. The crowd hid him
from the figure's view. The face was in shadow, but what slipped back
into the figure's robe raised Zack's interest. The telltale sensor lights
of a tricorder slide back into the figure's robe.

Zack was interested, now. He followed the figure for several minutes
until he stopped behind M'beya's shop. The figure fiddled with a grill
for a moment then made to step into it.

The figure dissappeared from view and Zack silently followed, removing the
grill in a likewise manner and replacing it just as silently. With his
phaser before him, Zack slide/crawled after the mysterious man making even
less noise.

Lt.Platt emerged from the turbolift to see a tall black human
stood beside the relitavly small customs officer.

"What seems to be the problem?" Asked Platt as he reached the two.
The customs officer explained about the cargo for the ex-Maquis. Platt
nodded as he listened to the report and then looked down at his PADD.

"You have some special equipment listed here I see. Do you need any
help transporting it?" The customs officer looked at Platt curiously,
wondering what the man knew that he didn't.

"No, it's okay. I have my own people helping with that." M'Beya
informed him. As if on cue Ip'sc rounded the corner.

"M'Beya, you asked to see me?" M'Beya grinned as the contractor
arrived.

"Okay, well I want to see you in the customs office as soon as you've
unloaded the equipment...I have some questions for you!" Platt said
frowning. He would need to enquire as to *how* this civilian knew about
the ex-maquis colony before everybody else...Ruane hadn't known two
weeks ago, how could M'Beya have known four weeks ago?

As he left he heard an interesting exchange between M'Beya and Ip'sc.
It seemed the contractor had no idea what he was there for...and seemed
quite put out when M'Beya told him of the job he apparently *had* to
do...
