requested by Phil.

**Scene: Bridge of the Vulcan trader**

The Romulan Commander sat patiently in his command chair.
He had finished his trading on Bajor, his cover for the real mission,
and now that real mission could be resolved.

"We are now in transporter range of DS 101." Said the 2nd officer.

"Good, hold position here. what is the status of the cloaking device?"

"Working at 100% efficiency. we are completely invisible to the
stations sensors."

The Commander smiled. He had spent a long time working on this plan
and It was about to come to its glorious conclusion. The death of the
Federation officers at the hands of The Vulcans would cause chaos and
cause mistrust between the Federation and their puppets, the Vulcans.
All he had to do now was to wait for the signal to beam his operatives
back.

**Scene: DS 101 Access tunnels**

As Selak continued to crawl along, he heard a familiar voice echoing
down one of the side tunnels he had just passed. Slowly he turned
around and started to retrace his steps until he came to the
intersection. He had only just started down the new tunnel when he
heard another voice from behind him.

"Hold it right there Selak." Said Hogan.

Selak turned and saw the phaser in his hand.

"I suggest you stay out of this Lt."

"You know I cannot do that, I'm going to have to take you in."

"This is between me and my father, It is not a Starfleet matter."

"I'm not sure where you fit in to all this, but I'm investigating the
death of Captain Ruane. That makes it a Starfleet matter."

"You do not know all the facts. I must be allowed to continue."

Hogan could see that the Vulcan would not come quietly.

"Well why don't you tell me all the facts."

Selak explained the message he had received from Ruane and the fact
that he believed his father was not as guilty as the captain believed.

"So there you know as much as me. Do you want to get to the bottom of
this or do you want to arrest me?" He concluded.

Zack thought for a moment. Selak was right, this was the best chance
they had to find out the truth.

"Okay, we'll do it your way for now." He said finally.

The two men crawled to the end of the tunnel where another grating
blocked their way. A quick inspection revealed that the screws had
been removed and the grate was just resting against the wall.
In the room they saw Tulok stood over the Orion girl, Rissa. There was
no one else in the room.

"Why did you not use the poison that I gave you?" Said the Admiral.

"What are you complaining for. I did the job, Ruane is dead."

"That is not the point."

"What is the point then, father." Said Selak, as he burst into the
room. Phaser in hand. Closely followed by Zack.

Tulok turned to face his son. If he was surprised, he did not show it.

"The point is, Ruane was not supposed to die."

"Then why did you ask me to kill him?" Asked Rissa, confused.

"If you had used the poison, he would have fallen into a coma. I could
have revived him with the antidote after all this was over."

"All what, Admiral." Said Zack.

"I have infiltrated the Vulcan Isolationist Movement in an attempt to
capture the Romulans responsible for backing them. At this time, a
Vulcan trader with the Romulan responsible for their plan is en route
to the station. It is my intention to capture him and stop his plans.
Until now, the only person that had been killed was a hired Nausicaan
assassin."

"What about the Vulcans killed on the home planet." Asked Selak.

"They are in hiding. It was necessary to make my cover story more
believable."

"Where are the three Romulans?" Asked Zack.

"Waiting for me in club 101. I stayed behind pretending that I was
going to kill Rissa, but if I am not there in a few minuets they might
become suspicious. Remember, It's the leader we want. We must find a
way to either get him aboard the station, or to beam a team aboard his
ship." Said the Admiral.

Zack looked at the Admiral very hard, trying to decide whether he
could trust him. Vulcans usually didn't lie but he had known a few
that would, especially if it was for the greater good. Finally his
instincts told him that the Admiral was telling the truth.
Rissa was still not sure and decided she would keep the truth about
the captain to herself, for now.

NRPG:
All: I promise not to add any more twists, maybe

Kevin: I guess as CSO, the next move is yours.

Phil: Please say that this is all right. I have left the truth about
      Ruane hidden as you requested.

**SD: 90622.1154**
**Scene: The Console Room**

Hogan almost ran out of the turbolift to the CO's office. He tapped
the chime and waited. Alyza was obviously busy, but he didn't have
time. He issued a security override and entered to see Alyza in
communication with Capt.Galen Savage of the USS SAGAN. Alyza turned to
him quickly after pausing the communication.

"LtCmdr. sorry for this interuption, but I have something important to
report..." Hogan spoke of what he had just been told by Selak and his
father and about the message Selak received from Ruane. Alyza listened
intently before turning back to her communication with Savage.

"I'm sorry Captain, it seems I have urgent business to attend to."

[Understood commander, I'll speak to you later maybe?]

"That would be satisfactory." The comm closed and Alyza walked out of
the office followed by Hogan.

"Lieutenant, I suggest you get into some civilian clothing and watch
the Romulans and Vulcans." Alyza said.

"Aye sir." Hogan left and Alyza tapped her comm badge.

"Lt.Roberts, report to the Console Room."

[On my way sir.] Alyza moved to the science console, on the highest
level of the Console Room, and started tapping in commands. If the
Romulans were involved then there could very possibly be a cloaked
vessel of some type in the vacinity and she would have to do her best to
find it, or to detect it when it decloaked.
Logic dictated that it's shields would have to be down to beam the
Romulans and Vulcans back therefore it would be easy to disable. That's
what Roberts was called for, he would wait in the BANGALORE, ready to
launch and disable the vessel before it retrieved the team. Alyza would
raise the shields the moment it appeared to prevent beaming.
Hogan meanwhile would makesure that where ever the Isolationists are
they can't get away and hide within the station's unmapped regions.

**Scene: Freighter JADE**

Ruane looked at the current status reports for DS 101 as he sat alone
in his freighter's cargo section. Everything he could see said things
were all fine, it was the things he didn't see he had to worry about
though. Alyza of course made thorough reports but kept out anything
that hinted at knowing the Romulans and Vulcans plan.
He looked at the report of her communication with the SAGAN, Ruane was
upset that he hadn't been able to talk with her Captain, but he would
settle that as soon as the current situation was resolved. Ruane just
didn't know when that would be...he hoped soon though.

**Scene: USS SAGAN, Bridge**

The communication with LtCmdr.Alyza closed and Savage took the command
chair from Loquoren who moved to his seat beside the Captain.

  "Busy place." Savage frowned.

"It would seem so." Loquoren said in response before looking up at
the viewscreen...to see something quite suprising.

"Full stop!" Called Galen as he saw it too.

"Helm answering full stop Captain." Reported Christina.

On the viewscreen an enormouse multi-coloured whirlpool span infront of
the SAGAN.

"Captain, I think we might have stopped too late?"

"Why?" Asked Savage, and got his answer. There was a jolt as the
SAGAN began to move forcibly, the whirlpool sucking it in.

"Whatever it is it's strong." Christina said as she struggled with
the controls.

"Can you brake free?" Asked Loquoren.

"I'm trying." Her voice was strained as if she was putting every
ounce of her strength into pressing the keys on the helm console.
Eventually it payed off. The whirlpool view was replaced with that of
stars.

"Switch to aft view." Loquoren ordered. The whirlpool was shown once
more.

"Engineering." Galen tapped the comm button on his chair.

  [Engineering here.] Responded the Dolphinoid.

  "Can we go to warp?"

[I wouldn't advise it if you don't want to leave half of us behind.]
Clicked the CEO.

  "What can we do Huey?"

[The most we can manage is Impulse power, and that's pushing it.]

"Understood, do your best to keep us together!" Galen closed the
link.

"Any suggestions?" Galen looked around calmly, doing his best to hide
any fear with confidence.

"I suggest a distress signal." Loquoren said, everybody glanced at
him in shock before turning back to there stations. The FO was willing
to give in so easily? Galen voiced what everybody else was thinking.

"Commander, we're not beaten yet." Savage's voice was defiant.

"But if we are beaten then would't it be best to get off a distress
call whilst we can, instead of leaving our destruction as a mystery."
Savage turned away as Loquoren finished.

  "How are the engines holding?"

"Okay so far, we're steady at this point, but I don't know how long
we'll stay this way." Christina reported as she continued to strain
against the pulling power of the whirlpool. Savage looked at Loquoren
who leaned over and whispered,

"We are responsible for a thousand lives sir. If we're lost, their
families deserve some kind of explanation as to how." Galen nodded and
tapped at the command console to send a general emergency message along
with details of the whirlpool.

"Leeds, can you give us any suggestions on what we're dealing with?"

"It doesn't show up on the sensors Captain, the AUGUR-array is also
getting nothing."

"Koran, lock phasers and fire at full power." Ordered Loquoren.

"Aye sir." The Klingon CSO hit the 'fire' key. The view from the
rear showed the red/orange beam lancing out towards the centre of the
whirlpool...with no effect. It just seemed to disappear.

"Torpedos, fire 3, spread 1-1." Loquoren ordered again. Again the
SAGAN fired it's weapons, again they just disappeared at the centre,
this time though the torpedos were taken off course and span into the
central hole. Then the situation changed. The vessel rocked.

[Captain, we've lost port impulse power.] Reported H'wrrr. The
whirlpool drew closer. Christina was straining more than ever,
straining along with the SAGAN's engines. The ship rocked again.

  "That was starboard impulse sir."

**Scene: Deep Space, At the edge of the Amgine Sector.**

The HOOD-Class cruiser struggled to escape from the whirlpool, the
mighty vessel reduced to the same majesty as a money spider in a bath.
As the starboard engines went, the struggle to avoid being sucked down
the plug hole failed. The SAGAN was tossed around like a duck in an
ocean storm as she span into the centre of the whirlpool. Almost a
kilometre of starship become nothing to the powers of the whirlpool.

**Scene: USS SAGAN, Bridge, Somewhere.**
**Timeframe: Two hours later**

The crew of the SAGAN regained consciousness simultaneously. Looking
around, still dazed, they found that all was well. Even Huey discovered
that the Impulse engines were full operational.

"Status?" Savage ordered as he moved from his resting place on the
ground to his command chair.

"All systems operating at 100percent." Reported Loquoren, a little
confused.

"Leeds, anything on sensors? Where are we?"

"We appear to have been transported to another Universe. It is
spherical, with a radius of 10 lightyears."

  "Any stars or planets?"

"One star system with one Class-M planet, 4 lightyears from here."

"Set course for the planet, warp 7."

  "Aye Captain."

Scene: Captain Ruane's office
[NRPG: a back post]

The new CMO, Lt. Lucas Walker entered Captain Ruane's office as requested.
A moment later, Ens. Setsuzo Kotsuji-- Biology specialist and head of Gamma
shift in sciences -- entered the office.

"Have a seat, Ens." said Alyza, indicating the chair next to Lt. Walker's
"This is our new Chief Medical Officer. I want to bring both of you up to
speed as to what has been going on here, because I have an assignment for
both of you. Witnesses report that Captain Ruane assassinated in the
mall. It may possibly have something to do with a Vulcan separist
movement, but our data is inconclusive at this time. What I want both of
you to do is go to the scene of the murder and, try to determine what, if
any DNA is present"

"You mean the murderer's?" asked Walker.

"The murderer's and Ruane's. Captain Ruane has some rather interesting
DNA." said Alyza, explaining to Walker how the Captain had died previously
on 2 occasions and regenerated. She gave him a medical tricorder that she
had calibrated to Ruane's DNA. "Of course, in this case, witnesses
indicate that the Captain's body was disintegrated. I want you two to
determine if there is sufficient DNA present to indicate disintegration, or
some other kind of explosion instead. The DNA in either case, should be
present with chemicals in proportion to those indicated in his last
physical, after his last regeneration."

Alyza handed a P.A.D.D. to Walker, who with Ens. Kotsoji, examined it briefly.

"You have your assignment, report back to me when you complete the
research. The science labs are at your disposal, as are the med labs.
Everyone but the two of you and Barak if he happens to be on duty at the
time, are to leave the room. Is that clear?" asked Alyza

"Aye sir" replied the two officers in unison.

"Dismissed"

NRPG: okay, Ben, what do you and Ens. Kotsuji find? BTW, Kotsuji is a NPC
of mine, one of 2 who are not expendable. The other is, of course, Ens.
Barak, Alyza's husband.

Console Room, Ruane's office.

Alyza had just talked with the cheif security officer, Hogan, about his
findings so far. She had yet to hear a report from Walker and Kotsuji on
their findings.

"Ens. McLeary, Ens. Barak, Ens. Kotsuji, please report to Captain Ruane's
office immediately. POs James Kennedy and Bramaputra please report to the
Console room science station in 20 minutes" Ordered Alyza over the comm
system.

The three officers arrived at the office a short while later, Ens. Kotsuji
had left medical where he was working with the new CMO. McLeary rang the
chime.

Alyza stood and made sure her uniform was straight and that everything was
in order. "Come"

The ensigns entered with a swoosh of the door and stood at attention before
their acting CO. Alyza had looked for the right words to say, especially to
the 2 humans. She was never very good at speeches.

"Ens. McLeary, for your exemplary duty and time of service on DS 101, I do
hereby promote you to Lt with all the duties and privileges therein."
announced Alyza. She picked a small box that was on the desk where it
could not be seen, and opened it. She walked over to McLeary and, after
moving his current solid pip to its new location, fastened his new hollow
pip below it. She handed him the empty box. "Congradulations, Lt.
McLeary. At ease"

"Thank you sir" replied McLeary.

"Ensigns Barak and Kotsuji," she said, knowing that they would not be
surprised, "you are now advanced in rank to Lt. for your exemplary
service and time of service on DS 101 with all the duties and privileges
therein."

She drew out 2 more hollow pips from a drawer, and arraged Kotsuji's and
then Barak's pips on their collars. "Dismissed. Return to your duties."
The three new Lt.s left, talking as they made their way to the Turbo lift.

[NRPG: well Chuck, what do they talk about?]

5 minutes after they had left, the 2 PO's entered the console room, and met
Alyza by the science station. There she promoted both of them to the rank
of CPO.

After they left, Alyza was called by CMO Walker.

<>

"Alyza here"

<>

"On my way. Alyza out"

Alyza thought that something with this murder was not what it seemed, but
she kept the speculation to herself. Logic dictated that she wait for more
facts.

-------a short time later---------

Alyza entered sickbay, to find it occupied by only Walker and Kotsuji...

[NRPG: so, Ben, what is the report?]

---------
NRPG: Phil, I hope you don't mind that I promoted some of the science
people too. I thought it was about time some got a promotion.

Stardate: 90622.1718
Scene: The Mall----->Deck 48

A lone figure with slick-backed jet black hair wound his way through the
crowd. A rather unimpressive figure with a dark suit, black shirt, and
equally black trousers that covered the scuffed and scarred shoes he
wore.

The man took a seat at a table at K'org's klingon eatery across the avenue
from Club 101. Through one of the windows lining the sides of Club 101,
the dark suited man could easily see three Vulcanoids and the approach of
a fourth and fifth.

"What'll it be, Mister?!" gruffly asked the klingon suddenly standing
before Zack. The man's foul breath spilled all over the undercover
security chief.

Suddenly, the man's eyes widened. "You're no customer! You're that..."

The klingon didn't get any more words out of his mouth before Zack grabbed
his apron front and pulled him down to his face. "I strongly suggest you
be quiet K'org."

K'org could see the handle of the phaser resting comfortably in a hidden
holster underneath Zack's suit.

"I would really hate to have to get rough with you," added Zack in an
unusally polite voice.

K'org nodded. He had already had run-ins with the new station security
chief. No need to get on his bad side...today.

"Now, Mister K'org, I'll have a small dish of blood worms please and hold
off on that sauce you put on it. Also, I would be most appreciative if
you would kindly not disturb me as I dine."

Another mute nod from K'org and he was off. Zack took a few looks around
again to make sure that K'org's outburst didn't arouse any undue notice.

Across the avenue, the five Vulcanoids continued to talk. They all seemed
pretty chummy as far as Zack could tell. Then the group got up and headed
out the door down the avenue.

Quickly, Zack tapped his left breast and the comm-pin hidden underneath
twice. That was the signal. The Romulans posing as Vulcans were on the
move.

Quietly, Zack got up and nonchalantly made to follow the group just as
K'org sat a huge steaming plate of blood worms slathered with glistening
sauce on the now vacated table. K'org made to say something, but Zack
glared at him. K'org remained quiet.

Within minutes, the group of Vulcanoids were at one of the turbolifts
exiting the Mall area. The lift stopped and the Vulcanoids got on. After
the lift was gone, Zack stepped from around a corner and tabbed his hidden
comm-pin again.

["Station ops, Lt.Cmdr. Alyza here."]

"Commander, they just got on turbolift five. Can you give me their
destination?"

["Logs indicate they're headed for deck 48, refuge and waste management
control. I've alerted your designated security teams to standby on that
level. Also, did they accept Selak's cover?"]

"Couldn't tell from my position, sir, but they seemed pretty at ease even
for Vulcans."

["Understood, continue following them. We are attempting to come up with
something to contain them if and when their transport arrives."]

Zack had already stepped into an adjacent turbolift and was headed down as
he spoke. "Sir, I have a plan that just might work. You've theorized
that there quite possibly is a ship, cloaked, near the station waiting to
pick them up. Admiral Tulok wants to capture the Romulan leader on that
hypothetical ship. I think we can prevent the Romulans on station from
leaving while simulataneously capturing their friends."

["Explain Mister Hogan."]

"If we raise the shields the Romulan transport gets spooked and leaves,
but what if DS 101 had a medium level radiation leak on decks 48 and
below."

Alyza picked up on Hogan's plan, ["We would have to evacuate some of the
visitor's quarters and private sector leases, but...the radiation
emanating from the station would interrupt subspace communications, make
transporter functions impossible on those decks, and..."] Alyza was quiet
for a moment checking some readouts on her screen.

["...instantly be blocked by a ship's navigational shields. A cloaked
vessel's cloaking field would then, how do you say it Lt, 'glow-in-the
dark'."]

"Then, the BANGALORE could give those Romulans out there a nice little
surprise," added Zack.

["Proceed Mister Hogan and ensure that Selak and Admiral Tulok are not
harmed."]

"Aye, sir."

The lift continued speeding down, into the bowels of DS 101 and an
upcoming confrontation.

Christina's head was spinning. She could feel her own consciousness, deep
in the depths of her inner child, her real being, her real person, yet there
was something, something that this being was doing that was breaking it away
from her outside shell - her body. She was fully aware of what the being
was saying, fully aware of what the officers on the bridge were saying and
doing. She could see Koran brining out his phaser and being flung to the
ground. Yet, even using all of the inner strength she had, she could not
break free. She heard the doctors summary of the situation.

>"The possession is causing her blood
>pressure to rise.", he whispered into the FO's ear. "I'd give her another
>ten, maybe fifteen minutes before she'll suffer a minor stroke. After
>that it would be irreperable damage.

She knew that she had to fight and fight hard - although the more she fought
with the being the more it possessed her. The more it took away those last
few ideas of freedom that she was counting on to see her through. She could
hear herself saying,>"Because it >has happened before, many times before
too." She
>went on to describe the war games that his people had been involved in,
>how they had learned of them from the former inhabitants of the planet.
>It was a story passed down over millenia. His brief description touched
>upon the Iconians, the Chodak and several other ancient races.
>Apparently races were brought from every corner of the Galaxy to battle
>to the death, the loosers died, and the winners went free; if they were
>lucky.

She could feel herself starting to break free - starting to bring her real
self to the forefront of her mind. She was beginning to feel her own self,
her own arms, legs and head - her own shell. She was not sure whether her
inner strength was doing this or the being was starting to pull out of her
body..................suddenly, as if she were a puppet and the strings were
broken, her body went limp. She tried to fight against making a huge fool
of herself in front of her new crew but she succumbed to the pain and felt
herself fall.

>Christina stared at him, attempting to read his soul, then suddenly
>collapsed. Galen sprung forward and just barely caught her.

>"Selene, take us on an opposite heading from the planet as far and
>fast as you can! Loquoren...you have the bridge," Galen rushed out carrying
>the unconscious helmsman.....

Scene: Sickbay

Christina woke up to the harsh lights of sickbay. She closed her eyes,
hoping to block out some of the light that was filtering down from the
lights. She could hear the hum of voices as they worked around her and she
could feel the press of a hyprospray as a substance was put into her body.

<>>>

She opened her eyes again, this time squinting so that her eyes did not take
the full brunt of the light pointing down on her. She could see Galen
conversing with the doctor and they were making worried glances to her. Not
one for being a patient, Christina sat up. Again she blinked, hoping that
it would get rid of a little of the pain she was feeling in her head. "This
headache will have to go soon," she murmured to herself placing her legs
over the side of the bed. The movement caught the attention of the doctor
and Captain and they both came over to her, both walking in strong,
determined strides.

"What the *hell* do you think you are doing?" Galen asked, the frown
starting to develop more predominately on his forehead.

"Sir, I am fine. I just have a little bit of a headache but with something
that should be cured. I am going to go back to my post ..........on the
bridge." she added, hoping that it would convince Galen more to let her out
of sickbay.

**Timeframe: Simultaneously to Kevin's post**

As Selak an Tulok walked into the bar, Selak carefully and discreetly
scanned the promenade. He could not see Lt. Hogan but he knew he was
there somewhere. *Very good* he thought to himself.

"What is this?" Said Vetak, when he saw Selak.

"We are going to need him if we are to get out of here alive." Said
Admiral Tulok.

"What do you mean?"

"Commander Alyza is not the fool you seem to take her for." Selak
said. "She already knows you are here and who you are. You will need
my help if you hope to get off the station."

"How do we know we can trust you?" One of the other Romulans said.

"A death sentence is a pretty good incentive. Besides, I have no wish
to see my father killed." Answered Selak.

"The death of Captain Ruane will be enough for now. Our work here is
done." Tulok added.

"Very well, but we are not finished yet Selak." Said Vetak. "We will
meet again."

Selak finally realised that this feud between himself and the
Isolationists would only end with his death. *Maybe they should have
their wish* He thought.

"We cannot stay here any longer, we must get to the beam out point.
The ship should be here by now." Said Vetak.

The five men walked out of the club and headed for the turbolift.
Selak thought over and over of the words that his father had said to
him in the message left on his computer terminal.
*Only in death will you find peace*
As the turbolift stopped on deck 48, Selak reached inside his tunic
for his Tricorder.

"Wait." He said, as he walked over to an access panel and removed the
cover. "The station's sensors will need to be deactivated first,
otherwise they might be able to detect the transport and raise shields
before it's complete."

"They could not react that quickly." Said Vetak.

"Your right, normally, but as I told you they know you are here and are
waiting for such a move." Selak responded.

"Will they not become suspicious when the sensors fail." Said the
Admiral, playing his part.

"Not if I use the tricorder to send them a false reading." said Selak.

Selak coupled the tricorder into the sensor, but instead of sending a
false signal it started recording everything that was happening,
including voices.

"Right, gentlemen. Now that the sensors are off line, I can get down to
the business that I came for." Said Selak. With that, he turned
round and pulled a phaser out of the sleeve of his tunic. "Namely the
assassination of four Romulan terrorists."

"I knew you could not be trusted." Said Vetak.

"You were right. I even managed to convince my own father. After I kill
all of you, I will be able to make up any story I want."

"That's why you wanted the sensors off line." Vetak said.

"Do you remember the message you sent to me, father?" Selak asked.

Up until now Tulok had not known what Selak was up to. This was not in
the plan they had devised, but now he saw where Selak was heading.

"If you mean the one about death, yes."

Selak had one last card to play. He had to give his father an
opportunity, but due to the rush he had thought out this plan, he could
not think of one. Suddenly a turbolift door opened further up the
corridor and Selak seized the opportunity. He swung round to see
what the noise was. The Admiral drew a phazer and fired.

"QUICK!" He shouted, and the four men ran down the corridor.

Zack was just in time to see the shot and he ran over to Selaks body.

"Medical emergency on deck 48." He said, as he tapped his comm badge.

He was wondering why the station alarms had not gone off when he noticed
that Selak was not hurt.

Selak pulled the Lt. close to him. "Report to Sickbay that I have been
killed." He whispered.

Zack looked at him curiously and then realised what he was up to.
"Lt. Hogan to sickbay, Ensign Selak is dead.

NRPG:

recording of Selaks death. I hope you all can find something nice to say
at my funeral. As for the rest of this thread,
it's over to you.

Kevin: As you can probably see, I received your post on Sunday, but
I have noticed that I am not getting my posts sent back to me after I
send them to the mailing list.

"No...I'm fine. I guess we're done then." Anathema stood quickly and
turned to leave.

"Wait a second," Quinn eyed the rather extensive file of the aCMO, "We
could be here awhile. Why don't you have a seat." This time it was Quinn
who forced a smile.

A soft growl emitted from somewhere deep within Anathema as she sat
back down.
[SNAP]

"Okay, but let's make it quick.", she growled, walking stiffly to
the couch and lying down defiantly. "I got a department to run, y'know."

"Yes, I am sure you do. By the way, you don't *have* to lie down.
We don't really do this lying down."

"I can if I want to.", Anathema replied, not intending to be
helpful.

"Of course. Why don't you tell me how you feel right now ?"

"Bloody pissed off, that's how. I got a department to run, and I
don't need anyone poking around in my subconscious, trying to 'cure' me of
anything."

"Why do you think anyone would want to cure you ?", the counselor
asked gently.

"Take a good look at that file in your hand.", Anathema snapped
impatiently. "Look at the rating. It's 'Sigma' ! I'm a bloody Sigma, so
shrinks have tried before to cure me of being me."

"It says here you have problems controlling your temper. Would
you agree with that ?", Quinn questioned.

"Bullshit, I can call up my temper any time I want to.", she
growled.

"That was not quite what I meant.", Quinn replied. "I was
wondering - do you rule your temper or does your temper rule you ?"

"What you're trying to say is, I'm some sort of dangerous maniac,
is that it ?", Anathema snapped.

"I would never -", Quinn began, but she interrupted him.

"You ain't that wrong, y'know. Yes, so I happen to be dangerous.
So what ? I'm still alive. Not everyone can say *that*."

"You seem to be proud of it.", Quinn remarked.

"'Course I'm proud of it. Look, why don't you do what the other
shrinks tried ? Start with my family. Ask me about my parents.", she
said challenging.

"Very well, tell me about my parents.", Quinn followed her
suggestion.

"My biological parents died when I was too young to remember them.
My adoptive parents were Klingons, and they had natural children as well.
You got any clue what it means being a non-Klingon in a Klingon family ?"

Quinn opened his mouth, but she interrupted him before he could
get a word in edgewise.

"I'll tell you what it means. Humans are anatomically weaker than
Klingons. You can't get around that. And for Klingons, if you ain't
strong you ain't worth much. I got bullied a lot. Not so much by Klingon
males. They saw me as a curious thing. Klingon females hated my guts.
So I got picked on a lot. If you're weaker than everyone else you got
only three choices. Surrender. That's just not my style. Become an
expert martial artist. That takes time, especially when fighting is a
national hobby. Or you could draw on your inner strength. Happens to be
my temper. There ain't no Klingon around that could stand up to me when
I'm angry."

She flashed a wicked smile. "It's part of me, and I ain't gonna
give it up. Took me long enough to learn how to call up me temper at
will."

"I see.", Quinn said. "Would you say - ", he hesitated, looking
up sharply.

"Would I say what ?", Anathema asked. Then the universe began
spinning like hell.

Scene: Sickbay

Everybody regained consciousness at the same time. Spencer groaned and
watched Ghandi sit up sharply. With the flick of his mind he activated a
bodyscan and a neuronal scan. He would do a proper scan later, using
proper equipment, but for a preliminary reading his bioware would have to
do.

"I did not know you were susceptible to unconsciousness, Ghandi.",
he said, pulling himself up on his desk.

"Neither was I.", the robot replied. "It appears that for some
reason my neuronal circuits were shut down for some time. I will run a
self-diagnosis."

"Shouldn't you contact the Captain ?", Hazim asked. "This could
have been shipwide."

"He'll contact me if that is the case.", Spencer replied calmly.
"In the meantime I will put sickbay on Red Alert. X-13, I will need a
deep neuronal scan of at least three people in sickbay. I want to know
what happened."

"We all went unconscious.", the Grey replied

"I know that. I want to know how. And why.", the CMO said
calmly.

"Oh. You should have said so. Okay."

        "Spencer here"

         he cut
the connection, then send a similar message to the councilor.

************************************************************
Scene: Counselling

Anathema raised her head, listening to the message to the
counselor. "I guess that's it, head shrinker.", she said. "I gotta go."

"Yes, I expect you do.", Quinn replied. "We will continue this
later."

"In ten days.", she said, rushing out of the door.

***********************************************************************

Scene: Sickbay

Anathema stormed into sickbay. "What's this about us being in
another universe ?", she asked breathless.

"I am afraid I don't know.", Spencer replied slowly, indicating
with the lazy wave of his hand three people hooked up to more scanners
than Anathema had ever seen in non-critical patients. "We are currently
running close observations on three subjects. Neuronal and physical, and
biophysical changes.
As you are here now I'm putting you in charge of Emergency Rescue. The
medteam is assembling. The computer is checking for emergencies -

[Medical Emergency in Storage Room 3445b. Lifesigns low.]

Anathema stuck her fingers in her mouth and whistled loudly. The
more auditory sensitive beings, including Spencer, whinced painfully.
"Okay, you lazy sods, we got an emergency, go, go, GO !", she yelled, and
moments later the Emergency Rescue Team burst from the changing room.

"Okay, folks, lets GOOOOO !", Anathema shouted and raced through
the door. The team followed her, carrying the stretcher and equipment.

Spencer shook his head. "She certainly knows how to motivate
them. Found anything, X-13 ?"

The Grey shook its head. "Nothing so far. Then again, we would
probably carry an aura of our own universe with us, including our own laws
and natural constants. If, and only if, this is another universe, we
could expect some of them to be different. If, however, this is a pocket
universe, then we might not find anything at all."

"A pocket universe ?", Spencer asked.

"My race knows about them.", X-13 said smugly. "Basically, it is
a part of the original universe, fenced in by borders, so it has no
contact to the outside."

"Obviously that cannot be quite correct.", Spencer said slowly.
Otherwise we would never have managed to get here."

"Could have been a one way door.", X-13 replied.

The wall screen Spilling had gotten installed lit up. [Possible
emergency on bridge. Repeat, possible emergency on bridge.]
On the screen a physical analysis appeared.

After one glance on the screen Spencer took his medbag and walked
quickly out of the door. The FCO had just managed to get herself
electrocuted.

Scene: Bridge

"Neprophrem, I am Captain Galen Savage, CO of the USS Sagan, from
the United Federation of planets. We have no hostile intentions and
we would gladly leave, but we have no ideea how we got here in the
first place and how to get back to our own universe."

"We know your kind, human", Christina said in the same low voice.
"You would stop at nothing to achieve your ends, to conquer and
destroy every civilisation you meet."

The turbo-lift doors closed behind him. Nobody paid any attention
to him, which was understandable and actually pleased him. He monitored
the readings of his medscanner. Her bloodpressure was rising, her heart
beating faster, and sooner or later she would suffer a stroke.

He sidled up to the FO. "The possession is causing her blood
pressure to rise.", he whispered into the FO's ear. "I'd give her another
ten, maybe fifteen minutes before she'll suffer a minor stroke. After
that it would be irreperable damage.
And I have heard the name before. Neprophrem."

	"You remember where ?"

"Tell me, Commander, have you ever studied Earth religions ?"

	"Can't say I have. Why ?"

Spencer nodded towards Christina. "Neprophrem. He - or
rather, it, is mentioned on the last page of the last Red Sea Scroll. The
page is badly decayed. Salt, bad handling and attempts by the Vatican to
hide it have taken their toll, but you can still read about a quarter of
the words. It seems quite possible we are facing the same or a similar
being."

NRPG:
Gee, do I remember someone complaining about nothing happening ?
The name *does* sound familiar...

Love,
Alex

Walker was knelt done on the floor of the stations mall walk way,
examning the black scorch mark that had once been the captian. There was
somthing about the mark that didnt seem medical posibley to be the remains
of a human being, but then again Walker had enver delt with a situation
quite like this one. Walker was scraping a bit of the the black remains off
the floor and placing it in a tube, when Ens. Setsuzo Kotsuji, steped up
behind him. "Its so sad isnt it, the captians death and all?"

"Yes it must be sad for those of you who knew him, unfortantly my
remorices can only go as far as the lose of a life and the loss of a good
officer."

Ens. Setsuzo Kotsuji, just stared at Walker. "Yes this must be hard
situation for you to come into. I feel as if I almost envy you becuase you
have no feelings for the situation, you have no bias." She took a deep
breath, "How are your test coming sir?"

Walker looked up at her, "PLease no sir, it makes me feel rather old."

"Sorry si.....err Lt. May I ask what your doing?" She looked down at
Walker who was takeing another sampel of the black remains of the captian
and placing it in test tube.

Walker handed the tube to Ens. Setsuzo Kotsuji, "Here take this and run
some biology test on it in the Science labratorys. I will take a seconed
sampel, and return to sick bay, and run some medical tests. We should be
bale to dtermin if this is in fact the captian, and if not who or what this
is."

"You dont think the captian is really dead?"

"I do not belive this should be open knowleged intill furthar tests are
conductied, but I belive this may not be the captian. First of this does
not look to be the reamins of a human life, and seconded the tricored which
the cmdr. gave me is not picking up nay of the captian special DNA. Which
should have appred on an orginal scan given the captians DNA circumstances.
Now remember not to breath a word of this to anyone intill we are sure.
UNderstood?" Ens. Kotsuji only nodded. "Good I will notify you when I find
somthign, I trust you will do the same."

"Yes, Lt." Both officers nodded at each other and headed seperate ways,
Walker of course headed for sick bay.

Scean: Sick Bay
*****

Walker steped through the doors into sickbay as they parted for him.
Sick bay was still rather starnge to him as he had only had vitually a few
minuets to fimliruize hiumself with it before being called away to the cmdr
ready room.

He steped into the medical labratory that was atached to the sick bay.
and imdeatlly began to test the reamins in the tube which he pulled from
his pocket.

---------
A few hours later
---------

			[[Ens. Kotsuji to Dr.Walker]]

Walker tapped his com badage. "Kotsuji, I have been waiting for your
report. What have you found?"

[[Doctor, I do not belive this to be the remains of the captian. Or
anyhting close to, the biological structure of whatever this is would prove
to be more synthitc than anyhting. Whatever this is, it was defintly made
not produced, and I would estimate it was prepared recntly with in the last
48 hours.]]

"Understood Kotsuji. May finding seem to point in the same direction. I
will speak with the Cmdr."

[[Understood doctor, I will continue to run some more test here.]]

"Good I have a feeling we will need all the information we can posibley
get ahold of. Walker out." He tapped his com badage again. "Walker to
Cmdr.Alyza"

[[Yes doctor, how may I help you?]]

"I think I have somthign that may be of intrest to you, but I would
rather tell you in person."

[[Understood Doctor. Im on my way. Alyza out.]]

Walker turned back to his finding which scrolled acrossed the screan in
front of him. This was defintaly not the bi-product of a life he had
scraped form the floor of the mall. This was somhting that someone had
made, inorder to give an ilusion of the captian death. Walker turned around
as Lt.Cmdr.Alyza entered sick bay. "Cmdr. I have reson to suspect the
captian isnt dead."
