*Time: Right after Shaun's last post*

The tricorder continued dutifully recording. The Vulcanoid lay on the
deck. The human with dark hair layed the body on the floor glancing
briefly around.

Slowly, he got to his feet after reporting that his colleague was dead.
The tell-tale lights of the tricorder's sensor was impossible to miss and
the man with dark hair approached it and decoupled it from the sensors
shutting it off.

"You can get up now, Selak."

The body immediately got off the floor.

"Selak, I'm not sure what's going on. I understand that Vulcan's
sometimes do that 'tough love' thing, but your father just took a shot at
you."

"My father, was ensuring that I remain alive, Lt."

Zack nodded his head. "While that's fine and good, but we'd better go
after the Admiral. In a few minutes, this place is going to be flooded
with some medium level radiation, not enough to cause permanent damage to
us, but enough to block transporter functions on the lower decks."

"...And the Romulan leader onboard the cloaked vessel?"

"So there is a cloaked ship!" exclaimed Zack.

"Yes, and they are waiting just outside the station's defense grid. I
assume the radiation is to enable us to locate them," added Selak in more
of a statement of fact than a question.

"As usual, you're right. The BANGALORE is going to nab 'em. Right now,
we'd better chase down your father and those Romulans."

"Agreed, but what about backup?"

"None available," replied Zack breaking into a run. "My personnel are
evacuating decks 47 and 46 to minimize civilian exposure to the
radiation."

The two forms tore after the trail of the Romulans, Zack with Selak's
tricorder in hand.

Already, they had a headstart, but they didn't know the station like it's
security chief.

"We'll take this access conduit. Runs right into this corridor further
down and comes out in the waste extractor room," stated Zack not even out
of breath from the brisk run he and Selak had been keeping.

Suddenly, Zack got a start. His comm-badge buzzed, vibrating gently on
his chest. Smiling, he said to Selak, "It's already begun," as he
continued crawling frantically through the conduit.

Zack kicked the grating out and clambered out to an empty room.

"Damn, we missed..." began Zack over the noise of the huge waste
extractors.

"Quiet." hissed Selak craning his head and Vulcan hearing. "They're still
some distance away but closing."

Several meters distant was an intersection. Behind the two officers
rested the bulbous apparatus that cleaned all the waste from the station's
inhabitants. The room itself was only big enough to hold four of the main
'bulbs' for the extraction apparatus. With just four of the devices in
the room made for a nearly deafening noise and lots of heat.

Already, Zack was sweating profusely, his body temperature edging up to an
uncomfortable temperature. Shaking his head cleared the sweat from his
eyelids. Taking up position behind one of the 'bulbs', Zack got a clear
view of the entryway. Glancing over at Selak, he saw that the ensign had
done the same.

Within seconds, five forms tore into view.

"Vetak, these are the coordinates," stated one of the Romulans.

Admiral Tulok began, "I'm sure the others will be satisified with..."

"I'm afraid, you're wrong there Admiral," said Vetak. "There are no
others, for you see, we are agents of the Romulan Star Empire. Vulcans
are so easily duped with their precious ideas of logic and their
self-proclaimed highly evolved intellect." Vetak spat on the deck.
"That's what I think of your Vulcan intellect."

Tulok backed away slightly, remaining quiet.

"And you Admiral, traitor to the great Federation will die here as your
son did," added Vetak reaching slowly into his robe.

Zack nodded across at Selak and two beams of phaser fire ripped into
Vetak's chest flinging him into two of his companions.

Tulok rolled and hit the floor hard, adding his own fire to the mix, but
missing the final standing Romulan.

The Romulan immediately grabbed the hidden weapon from Vetak's fallen
form, and ducking and rolling, dodged a second shot by Zack.

With the disruptor before him, the final Romulan aimed and fired at the
form of Admiral Tulok lying on the floor.

**Scene: Freighter JADE, DS 101's Shuttle Bay 1**

Ruane sat in silence, still looking at the reports that scrolled along
the screen. He felt the need to do something, but wasn't sure exactly
*what* he could do whilst pretending to be dead. As he looked through
the reports he noticed something about a radiation leak in the lower
decks, a scanner report showed a cloaked vessel outside the station and
the USS BANGALORE moving to intercept; it seemed that DS 101's crew were
springing a trap for the isolationists. Ruane smiled as he stood and
approached the exit to his freighter's cargo bay, as he left his ship he
grabbed a hat, placing it on his head as he strode quickly towards the
nearest turbolift, much to the suprise of the crew he passed by,

"I thought he was dead." Said one.

"Well, it seems he's alive...*again*!" Said another.

**Scene: The Lower Decks**

Tulok sat slumped against the wall, a phaser burn in his right
shoulder as a result from the weapon fired by the Romulan. Hogan
attempted to fix him, bruises on his own face from a hand-to-hand
struggle with the Romulan. The Romulan had some how figured out that
the tricorder that Selak had set up had been recording everything that
had happened; it couldn't be allowed to remain in Federation hands as
evidence against the Romulans, he took it (by force) from Hogan before
taking flight, Selak had remained in the shadows, not wanting to be seen
to still be alive by anybody other than those who knew.

**Scene: Deck 16, DS 101**

An irrate Romulan ran out of an access duct towards a turbolift,
hoping he could find someway off the station, he ran quickly; too
quickly he discovered when he hit a cloaked figure.

"You've failed." The figure said simply, before injecting a fast-
acting poison into the Romulan, as the body went limp and fell the
cloaked figure took the tricorder before taking a quick look around and
leaving the scene.

**Scene: Vulcan Trader**

"Sir, the station is venting radiation. It is making us visable
dispite the cloak."

"What?!" The Romulan CO fumed. On screen the edge of the vessel's
shields shimmered, through it a slight burst of light could be seen as
the BANGALORE backed away from the station and moved towards them.

"Decloak and open a hailing frequency to that ship!"

"But..." The officer got no further, the CO was listening to nobody
now.

"Do it!" He gulped before dropping the cloak and opening a channel.

  "Channel open."

"You will not win." The Romulan said simply as the face of Lt.Roberts
appeared on screen. DS 101's OPS officer ignored this,

[Vulcan vessel, we have a tractor lock on you, drop your shields and
surrender.] Roberts starred wickedly into the bridge of the Romulan
vessel, waiting for a response, he soon got one.

The Vulcan trader started glowing white hot before it's core finally
exploded, sending molten debris in a million different directions. The
USS BANGALORE managed to get shields up in time. However DS 101 wasn't
quite so lucky, the hull was breached on deck 16 and 50, and significant
damage was caused to the sensor array.

**Scene: Selak's Quarters**

A message bleeped on screen from Capt.Ruane as Selak crept quietly
into his quarters. They were a mess after his first 'fake death', but
thankfully the comm terminal still worked. The message read:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
TO: Lt.
FRM: Capt.Graeme Philip Ruane
SUBJ: New Assignment

,
You are to be assigned as Chief Navigation Officer(CNO) onboard
the Federation station Deep Space 101. Report to Captain Ruane in his
quarters immediatly.

        Capt.Ruane
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Selak dwelled on the message shortly. No, not Selak; he was dead, he
had found his peace, now it was Lt.>.

**Scene: Ruane's Quarters, That Evening**

Ruane had explained as much as he could to the crew of DS 101 about
recent occurances. He had issued a public message on the death of DS
101's former CNO, Ens.Selak. Selak's father was in Sickbay recovering
from his wounds with help from Lt.Walker. Now only a few things
remained to be resolved.

Lt.Hogan, Lt.Walker and the man who had once been Selak walked
into Ruane's quarters simultaneously.

"Welcome gentlemen, I'm sure you all know why you are here?" Each man
nodded. Walker opened a case full of instruments used for prosphetic
alterations. Selak sat in a chair.

"I'm placing an order of silence upon each of you, you are never to
discuss in public or privacy the events of today and what is occuring
now without my *express* permission." They nodded gravily. Ruane moved
to the far side of the room and picked up a PADD.

"I've had to call in some favours to get you this." Ruane handed
'Selak' a biofile....his own biofile to be precise, listing his history
on Vulcan and in Starfleet, carefully placing him as the only survivor
from a destroyed Starfleet vessel before assignment to DS 101. It even
included a false report on what had happened to a vessel that had never
existed. Everything had been covered, reports from teaching staff, and
fellow cadets, cadets who had since died in the line of duty, there
would be nothing to disprove the contents of the new bio...

After two hours Walker had finished his prosphetic alterations on the
new Lt. CNO of DS 101. A few minutes later the Orion girl, Rissa
entered. Hogan seemed very much shocked...

"All systems report.", said Lt. Roberts as he sat in the command
chair.
	"Helm ready."
	"Tactical ready."
	"Ops Ready."
Roberts nodded. Although he was the only senior officer on the
bridge, he had worked with some of these officers long enough to be
confident in their abilities.
"Mr. Tagart, open a channel to the station. Cmdr. Alyza."
"Aye sir.", said the tactical officer. "Channel opened."
"On screen.", said Roberts. Alyza appeared on the viewscreen.
"Lt. Roberts, what do you have to report?", said the
Vulcan/Bajoran.
"Engineering has completed calibration of the impulse systems and
thruster reactor sequencers. We're going to do some simple flight manuvers
to test the these systems and make sure calibration is complete.", said
Roberts.
"Very well.", said Alyza. "Contact me with a report on the status
of the ship."
"Will do. BANGLADORE out.", said Roberts. If the Romulans were
monitoring communications, they wouldn't be suspicious of the BANGLADORE
flying around the station, thought Roberts.
"Helm, release docking clamps. Once we're clear of the station,
initiate autopilot program Alpha 1 on manuvering thursters only."
"Aye sir.", said the female helm officer. Roberts got up from his
command chair and joined Lt. Tagart at the tactical station.
"Mr. Tagart, once the Romulans decloak we'll only have a few
moments to disable them. When they do, I want you to target their weapons
and drive systems."
"Yes sir. But we don't know what type of Romulan ship is out
there. Warbirds and Scout ships have their weapon and drive systems
located differently." said Tagart.
"A cloaked ship has a better chance of bypassing Federation
Tachyon and Gravidic sensor nets, so we're most likely dealing with a
scout ship.", said Roberts. "Program the weapons systems with two firing
configurations, one for a scout ship and one for a Warbird."
"Aye sir. It should only take a few minutes.", said Tagart.
"Good, once you're finished you'll need to stay alert. You won't
have much time to initiate the right program."

Scene: Outside of Commander Alyza office
ds101@protv.ro

The three stood out side of Commander Alyzas office. Both Kotsuji
and McLeary looked at each other in astonishment. Barak had no
expression to speak of.

Mick could not hold it in. "Wow! Lieutenant JG. I just dont believe
it. Wait till my Dad hears about this. Less than one year and a
promotion. Congratulations to the both of you too."

"Thank you McLeary." stated Kotsuji. "I have to report to the sick
bay but maybe we can celebrate sometime later?" He finished with the
question.

"That would be great." Mick responded

"That would be fine." Barak accompanied in a much more formal tone.

As Kotsuji walked off Mick turned to Barak and spoke. "This sure is a
fine way to start a day wouldnt you say my friend?"

"It is, of course, a fine honor to receive a promotion. Logically we
deserved it or we would not have received it. You should feel very
good that you gained such an honor in the short time you have been
working on this base. Your work on the computer core and actions on
the Planet surly helped you in the decision. Now we should continue
our studies." Baraks comments were usual and expected from the
Vulcan.

The comments did take a little air out of Micks sails but Barak was
right. He would try contacting his father this evening and spread the
good news, but now, back to work.

"I found a tablet on the planet with alien writing. It is a unique
thing and deserves your review and study. I have it down in
laboratory B being scanned internally. Though it looks extremely
heavy it is quite light. It might give us some clues to breaking
their language. What luck have you had?"

"I do not believe in luck. Humans seem to rely on it often."

"Its just a saying Barak. What, then, have you discovered?"

"While you were on mission, Ens. Hi'Wee - the Chief Engineer and I
found a way to power up cubical 26. I am sure that those symbols over
each of the doors are numbers and designation markings. Underneath
the console was a hook up plug in. Believe it or not it looked just
like a plug in on an old style computer. It had 8 prongs. The Chief
created a plug and attached it to the power lines from an X-987
Portable Generator. The console lit up instantly. It also registered
an additional five lights on the power converter gages outside."

"Power converter gages?" Mick asked expectantly.

"Yes," Barak continued. "We were right in the first place. Each of
those panels along the catwalks convert station power as directed by
the cubicles. I believe that they had to have outside power sources
to generate enough power to operate the whole station to its fullest
potential. I have been able to connect some of the cores vast memory
reserves to our sensor array. It has already improved our ability to
scan three light years farther than the array on a Galaxy Class
Starship. What this means to us is that we can take a much closer look
at any surrounding worlds near the station or look a little further
into the depth of the Cocoon Sector."

"That is wonderful. On the planet the Marquis found an alien vessel.
I am positive that it is our aliens. I think they were exploring this
region when something forced them out or killed them. As you know our
estimates are that they left here about 50 years ago. I would love to
go back to the planet and have a real look around." Mick was
beginning to get excited.

"If you can get permission for such a trip I would be most happy to
accompany you." Barak stated.

"I will check on the scanning of the tablet and get back to you. I
will also request permission to make a trip back to the planet for
archeological surveys. See you later, and Barak" Mick paused, "accept
my sincere congratulations on your promotion." He walked off after a
slight wink.

Barak smiled and lifted his eyebrow. *This human had some
possibilities* he thought then moved on to more important things.

Scene: McLearys Quarters - Ten Minutes Later

Mick sat down at the computer station and opened the message center.
The first was to his Father with a short note about his promotion and
how he would contact him as soon as possible. The next was to
Commander Alyza:

[To: Commander Alyza

Subject: Computer Core Discovery and Request for Return Visit to
Planet

Barak has been able to improve sensor productivity by 20% utilizing
the cubical station in the computer core. I respectfully suggest that
science be allowed to scan areas not originally charted in this sector
to determine what type of planets and systems are available to us.

With the location of the tablet and Baraks success with the cubical I
request the opportunity in the near future to return to the planet of
the Marquis and spend a few weeks tracing the path of the aliens as
well as any other archeological possibilities the planet offers. For
this mission I would request the services of Lt. Barak, two security
crewmen, and one other officer with skills in geology and astronomy.

Prior to initiating the mission I would like to talk with the
ex-Marquis officer that accompanied us back from the planet. I think
his name was Dorove. If he is available please so inform me. Also, if
he is no longer needed here he could accompany us on the mission if
approved.

Only to grunt in pain as his elbow gave a loud crack. The disruptor
clattered to the floor, followed shortly by the last Romulan as a small,
green from threw him in classic earth marial arts style. She was atop of
him, and had him knocked unconscious before he even finished sliding down
the wall.

"Rissa!" Zack was obviously confused, and the orion turned large
eyes on him.

"I'm sorry....I tried to get messages out.....or leave little
hints,
but they must not have been found...." she tapped a quick code on the
combadge she had on, that was soon received by Ruane....
---------------------------------

Zack simply shook his head. Today had been one hell of a day and now here
was the woman he was in love with practically dropkicking a Romulan.

Quickly, he left his place of cover and moved towards her. Out of the
corner of his eye though, he saw a flicker of motion.

Instinct took over, "Rissa, duck!" Zack was almost too slow in warning
her, but Rissa had reflexes lightening fast.

She threw herself to the floor just as the Romulan's hand closed on the
disruptor and fired.

The beam slashed the air above Rissa's head and glanced off one of the
waste extraction bulbs. Zack sidestepped and returned fire, but was off
balance as his beam went wide.

The Romulan had an incredible will to live. Rissa's attack had injured
him grievously, but somehow he fought unconsciousness and staggered after
his fallen weapon. Now, he had lined up the security man for another shot
and he pulled the trigger.

Energy flashed out at Zack, but now he was nearly on top of the Romulan
having advanced on the man instead of finding cover. The shot clipped his
shoulder but momentum carried him forward.

A fist snapped out at the Romulan who took it full in the jaw. A quick
kick was the reply in Zack's midsection. He crumpled and folded over.
The Romulan took this as his opportunity and snatched the object he saw
fall out the security officer's jacket pocket.

Tearing down the corridor, he left the green female and beaten security
officer behind.

Zack simply stared hard at Rissa. Walking out of the office, she quietly
followed. Not a word was spoken until they both were in the lift heading
back down to his quarters.

"I assume all that went on had something or other to do with your past,"
he said calmly looking straight forward.

Rissa nodded mutely off to his side.

"I guess someday you were going to tell me, you knew hand-to-hand combat
so well, too, huh?"

Another nod.

"Well, regardless of what you were, I know who you are now, and I still
love you. Maybe you can tell me about that past sometime, but I won't
push it."

Then, Zack turned to look at Rissa and added smiling, "So what'd you have
in mind for dinner tonight?"

"Docking clamps secured.", said the helm officer to Lt. Roberts.
"Very well." said Roberts. He immediately got up from his command
chair and headed to the turbolift, intending to head to the Console Room
on the station.
On his way to the Console Room, Roberts went over the sequence of
events with the Romulan ship. He was disappointed that he was unable to
prevent the ship from self-destructing, but he figured it might be for the
best. At least with these people dead Vulcan would be a little safer from
the isolantionsit movement.

Scene: Console Room
As Roberts stepped off the turbolift, he saw Cmdr. Alyza talking
to a crewman. Roberts approached her to get the latest update.
"Alyza, the BANGLADORE is docked and secured. I take it by the
mood around here all is well?" asked Roberts.
"The station sustained some damage on decks 15 and 50(?). The
sensor array also took significant damage." said Alyza in her usual calm
demeanor. Roberts wondered if the station was being consumed by acid and
they were all going to die would Alyza still be cool and together.
"The Captain is in his office.", added Alyza. That last comment
brought Roberts back to attention. Both he and Alyza looked at one another
for a moment, as if they were communicating telepathically.
"What's this, the third time he's died." said Roberts.
"I believe it was done to help flush out the assains we were
looking for.", said Alyza. Roberts nodded in understandment.
"I'll talk to him in a moment, but I'm concern about the sensor
array.", said Roberts, moving to his Ops console. He made a few inquires
through the computer, checking the extent of the damage.
"We can't scan around the perimeter of the safe zone, which poses
a security risk giving the recent problems we had with the Dergrad.", said
Roberts.
"We can use the BANGLADORE's sensor array and tie it into the
station computer.", said Alyza. "Until the station's sensor array is
repaired."
"Good idea.", said Roberts. "But if the BANGLADORE needs to leave
the station we're back to square one. I'll have the sensor array on the
BANGLADORE used as a substitute. In the meantime I'll equiped some probes
with sensor palletes and deploy them far enough from the station to scan
the local space. From what it looks like the station's sensors will be

While the increase in the sensor's productivity by 20% is an improvement,
the range is still less than that of the USS Curie who originally surveyed
this area and is currently on duty in this area. Nontheless, you and Barak
may test the arrays ability, matching the sensor logs of the Curie survey
to the results of the improved sensors to determine how accurate the
improvements are. The increase in the sensor efficency should aid us in
keeping a closer eye on the immediate area.

With regards to your request to return to the planet, granted if the
ex-Maquis will also grant you permission. You may proceed after we have
finished capturing all of those invovled in Captain Ruane's assasination
[NRPG: This obviously happens before Ruane got bake]. You may request 2
security officers from Lt(jg) Hogan as well as Ens. Menlox (Bolian f), a
planetary geologist and
PO Aya Ito (human f), of the stellar chartogrophy lab. A runabout will be
at your disposal.

As for your request to take Dorove with you--request denied. He is not an

on the lives of the away team, he will stay under Lt. Hogan's custody until
Starfeet command retrieves him.

Raleigh Quinn, the Sagan's counselor, stood by as Dr. Spencer's

injured by the entity known as Neprophrem, who apparently served as a
sort of curator for the 'pocket universe' the Sagan was trapped in.
Although both the officers had serious injuries, it was Steven's that
interested Dr. Quinn the most. Her mind and body had been 'possessed'
forcably by Neprophrem, who had maintained control over her body
untill she was on the threshold of death. Stevens was now slowly

her something to relieve to relieve the pain. Do you have anything to

Raleigh stepped forward as Dr. Spencer Quinn addressed him. It felt
good to have a medical Doctor ask for his opinion. So often, M.D.s
simply discounted Counselors as "head shrinks", a term that severely
offended him, "She appears to have full control of her faculties, both
mentally and physically, " Quinn stated as he began to reach out to
the Helmsman telepathicaly. While his morals would not allow him to
actively read Steven's mind without her permission, he saw no harm in
performing what he called a 'passive scan' - a brief reading that
would devulge her emotional status, "Other than being slightly tired
and a little scared...she appears to be fine. I would recommend that
she participates in some more thourough analysis down the road, by
myself and the medical staff, but I see no reason why she can't return
to active duty right away."

"Very well..." Captain Savage placed a hand on Steven's shoulder,
"It's good to know you're okay. Take as much time as you feel you need
before returning to the bridge."

Savage turned away from Stevens and tapped his comm badge, "Go
ahead Loqueron."

"Sir, some of the other ships have began firing upon one another,"
the voice of the First Officer was decidedly grim, "Specifically, the
Romulans and the Klingons."

"Damn!" Savage clenched his fists. Somehow he would have to find a
way to calm down his fellow prisoners before everyone killed each
other, "On my way Number One."

"Captain," Quinn managed to stop Savage before he rushed out the
door, "Sir, I am able to detect the prescence of a rather intelligent
life form on the planet's surface. It could be the answers to our
predicament lie there."

"Noted...I'll consider an away team," Savage turned with Stevens
close on his heels, "Be ready Dr. Quinn...if we send out an away team,
you're going with them."

Dr. Spencer chuckled to himself as the Captain and Helmsman rushed
out, "Maybe you should have kept your mouth shut Dr. Quinn."

Quinn grinned widely, "Actually, I was just going to recommend that
you accompany us."

Finally, I get to post something! This story line is shaping up well.
This could turn out to be one of our most interesting adventures ever.

Scene: USS Sagan, bridge

> "Selene, take us on an opposite heading from the planet as far and
> fast as you can! Loquoren...you have the bridge," Galen rushed out
> carrying the unconscious helmsman.....

..which wasn't really very far. The new universe universe, small as
it was, presented other dangers, beside the planet and its
inhabitants. A /very/ large number of ships were present in that 10LY
ball. She looked at the scanner data casually, as the Sagan moved
through space. Mostly battleships. But there was something odd about
them. One was clearly a Klingon warbird, but that class has been
decomissioned by the Empire over 50 years ago. Another was clearly a
Kzinti battlestar - only she had never seen that design before. A
Romulan bird of prey (a very recent model, this one) opened fire on
the Klingon ship.

"All stop", ordered Loquoren. "Bridge to Captain Savage".
[Go ahead Loquoren].

> "Sir, some of the other ships have began firing upon one another,"
> the voice of the First Officer was decidedly grim, "Specifically,
> the Romulans and the Klingons."

[Damn! On my way Number One]

Something on the scanner attracted Selene's attention. A freighter.
Bajoran, probably.
"Sir", she said to Loquoren, "there's a frighter amidst a lot of
battleships. Considering Neprophrem's afirmations from a semantic
point of view, there's 93.5% probability..."

"Status!" Savage entered the bridge. Realizing that Selene was
talking he raised his hand. "Sorry, Lieutant. You were saying..."

For the first time in her short life, Selene wasn't able to remeber
what she was speaking about. There was something about this man, that
seriously affected her.

Selene continued to speak as if nothing happened. "... a 93.5%

Hope I didn't spoiled anyone's plans.

<<"A spherical Universe....," he turned to the
OPS station.
"Fargo...have your department run through the
library for similar
Occurrences. Leeds...go through the scanner logs
for the past three hours and
Find out why we didn't see this thing earlier.">>

>>"Now...if anyone has any ideas, hypothesis,
theories...I'd be more
Then interested in hearing them," Galen leaned
back in his chair. <<

30 minutes later

Leeds could sense the tension in the Captains
voice. Odd he would have thought he would be
calmer. Maybe he did not know what this was, or
just had not figured it out yet. Most likely the
latter. "Sir if I may." Leeds said coming down
from his station to stand next to the captain.

"Go ahead Mr. Leeds." Galen said.

" Mr. Fargo and I have ruled out the possibility
of being inside a dark matter cluster. Which was
a very strong possibility for a short while.
There have been three recorded incidents of this
nature in Starfleet history. The first on
STARDATE 23444.4 the Federation Starship Orion
was transported to a temporal rift by unknown
means. Once there twelve other ships from twelve
other races joined her. The end result was
destruction of all parties involved. On STARDATE
40302.4 The USS Enterprise A Under James Kirk's
Command encountered a similar event after
traveling through what is now known to be a
temporal rift, caused by an unknown very powerful
being suspected of being part of the Q continuum.
The purpose also being to watch them destroy
each other. Finally on STARDATE 45397.3: The USS
Enterprise D commanded by Captain Picard while
Investigating the disappearance of the USS Vico,
Found itself in a similar situation. In the
latter two incidents both ships managed to
escape. We have ruled out the possibility of an
alternate timeline, temporal flux, or rift. The
fact is we were brought here, wherever here is,
for reasons not yet determined. The only logical
solution is to send a landing party to the
surface and find out why. If this is as I
suspect, we shall find our answers there."

"Anything else?"

" There was no warning. All sensors were
operating normally and We were activley scanning
as per SOP. One thing I might add however is
that the properties of this universe differ from
ours as we know it. They are not significant
enough to affect our normal operations, but there
are subtle differences. We should be able to
operate normally here. The difficulty is going
to be convincing the rest of the captives here,
and that is what we are, Captives.. that we
mean them no harm. We are going to have to work
together to get out of this."

**SD: 90629.1854*
**Scene: Ruane's Quarters**

The 'alterations' on Lt.Taavek had been completed sucessfully,
including a change in voice tone, and Ruane was tired. Being dead had
worn him out, dispite this he had something to do.

"Come." Said Ruane, removing his hat and placing it on his hat stand.
The door hissed open to reveal the young woman who Ruane had recently
become 'involved' in.

"Thank god...it is true." She said as she walked through the doors,
throwing herself at Ruane, wrapping her arms around him tightly. He
kissed her softly before speaking himself.

"I'm sorry." Graeme sounded a little shocked, he hadn't expected this
reaction, perhaps he meant more to this woman than he had first thought.
He looked down to see a tear rolling down her cheak, he felt one of his
own forming. She smiled though as she looked up and into his eyes.

"It's okay. You're here now. Just don't do it again." She waved a
pointed finger at him, grinning.

"I shan't." He smiled and kissed her again.
"Please, sit down." He motioned to the table and chairs. She obliged
as he ordered drinks for the two of them. He placed them down on the
table before removing his dinner and disposing of it.

"So, how have you been?" She asked, noticing that he looked tired.

"Fine, it got lonely being dead though; I felt completly out of it,
not knowing whether I had succesfully fooled everybody...any doubt and
people could have been seriously hurt..." He spoke as he sat down,
taking a gulp of his drink once he had finished speaking. He felt a
wave of calm flow through him as the liquid passed down his throut(sp?).

"Well, you fooled me." Michelle said frowning.

"I'm sorry." He said once more. He stared into her eyes. "I'll
never do it again." He spoke with sincerity. He believed his words.
Michelle let out a faint smile as Graeme finished the rest of his drink.
Then she stood to leave.

"You're very tired Graeme, I should let you rest." She smiled as she
edged towards the door. Graeme nodded.

"Okay." And without a word more she left. Graeme picked up the
glasses and placed them in the replicator before dropping onto his bed
and falling into a deep sleep.

**The Next Morning, Ruane's Quarters**

Ruane woke with a start, as though somebody had just fired a gun right
next to his head. He was sweating slightly, and not because he was
still in his uniform. He looked for the clock, 0400. Then he thought
about why he had woken now...it was a dream, and not a very nice one.
He died at his own hands, or rather the hands of his 4th incarnation in
the Mirror universe. The memory of the dream was slipping away quickly,
he thought about writing it down, but soon...it was gone.

**Scene: Console Room, 0401**

It was The Sleepy Watch. Just a few people were on duty, with
Lt.Roberts sat watching over those who were around. The station had
been occupied by the Federation for a year now, and still nothing much
had happened on 'The Sleepy Watch' (GAMMA-shift for most)...until now.
The OPS console bleeped and flashed a warning that had not been received
since the last attack by Dergrad Rebels on commerce traffic.
Lt.Platt noticed it first.

"Lt.Roberts, we have an incoming distress signal."

"Who is it from?" Said Roberts, putting down his book and snapping
awake.

"It is from the USS SAGAN, a general distress signal, accompanied by a
visual." Platt said looking at the information displayed on his
console.

"On screen lieutenant." Roberts watched as the wall lit up with a
view of a giant and multi-coloured whirlpool, limited sensor data showed
the size of the whirlpool, but nothing more. This view was displayed
for sometime, until an out-board view of the SAGAN appeared, as the
distress beacon recorded and travelled away from the SAGAN, it showed
the SAGAN being tossed around like a stick in the ocean, and then the
whirlpool disappeared in a bright white flash.

"My god." Said Roberts standing. "Grey alert, have the BANGALORE
prepared for immediate departure, notify the command crew immediatly."
Roberts moved towards the exit.

"What are you doing sir?" Platt asked.

"I'm going to the BANGALORE, the Captain is gonna want to find out
what happened. You have the Console Room lieutenant."

  "Aye sir!"

**Scene: Ruane's Quarters, 0410**

Ruane fastened the last button on his nightgown as the alert came
through on his comm unit.

"Damn." He sat by the console and activated it.

"What is it?" He asked as the face of Lt.Platt appeared on the
screen.

[Sir, we've received a distress signal from the SAGAN, it's about a
day old. I'm piping it through.] The same scene that had been shown in
the Console Room appeared on Ruane's console when it finished Mike Platt
reappeared.

  "Why wasn't this received sooner."

[We're not sure, but we think the same radiation that revielved the
Vulcan/Romulan vessel also blocked this transmission for some time. A
vessel has responded, a Klingon vessel, but nothing much further is
known. Lt.Roberts is preparing the BANGALORE and I have called
LtCmdr.Alyza to the Console Room].

"Thank you Platt. I'll meet Roberts on the BANGALORE, have
LtCmdr.Alyza do likewise, I'll leave you with the station whilst we've
gone."

 [Aye sir.]

  The comm channel closed.
'If it doesn't rain, it pours'. Ruane sighed inwards as he slipped into
a clean uniform and headed for the USS BANGALORE. He had barely had any
sleep since the Isolationist incident, and now he was being disturbed in
the middle of the night to investigate the disappearance and possible
destruction of the USS SAGAN.

**Scene: USS BANGALORE, Bridge**

Ruane arrived to see the entire command staff of DS 101 gathered at
their positions, including Lt.McLeary and the new Vulcan CNO,
Lt.Taavek. They had all seen the distress message.

"Is the BANGALORE ready?" Ruane asked turning to Lt.Roberts.

  "All ready skipper." Roberts acknowledged.

"Skipper?" Ruane asked then turned away, last time he had heard that
it came from Lt.Tobias Zahn, the station's former CEO.

"Lt.Taavek, set course for the SAGAN's last known co-ordinates,
maximum warp."

"Aye Captain." There was a pause then the BANGALORE released the link
with DS 101.

"We are clear of DS 101 and the course is layed in and ready." Said
Taavek.

"Then lets go. Engage!" The vessel put some more distance between it
and DS 101 before disappearing into warp.
