61. Destiny

Summary

Two Cardassian scientists, Ulani and Gilora, are on the way to help set up a subspace relay through the wormhole. Sisko must decide what to do when an ex-Vedek tells him of a prophecy which seems to fit the circumstances, apparently warning that the Cardassians will somehow cause the wormhole to be destroyed. With a third Cardassian, Dejar, joining, Sisko goes ahead with the project, which is jeopardized by a comet headed for the wormhole. Due to sabotage, the Defiant's phasers fragment it rather than disintegrate it; the saboteur is Dejar. Three fragments go through the wormhole, but instead of destroying it they ignite a trail which makes communications possible.
