Le Jeunesse de Mirabeau

One of Colet's most political works, Le Jeunesse de Mirabeau documented the childhood of Comte Honore-Gabriel de Mirabeau, a hero of the early French Revolution. The work built off of one of Colet's traditional themes, the virtue of the oppressed. In the case of Mirabeau, this theme was reflected in the childhood conflict between Mirabeau and his egoistic and tyranic father.

The work was serialized in a newspaper of the time, La Presse, which allowed Colet to reach a wider audience than with her earliest works.
