DELTA OFFICE

>>"Not much," Kate said. "They're simply not equipped to deal with it.
Sullivan County is very rural. I don't think there's a town in the county
with more than a couple thousand people and the county sheriff's department
seems more than happy to turn the investigation over to us. The state
forest service has sent in search and rescue teams, but they couldn't find
anything. Are there any more questions? Comments?"

Flynn nodded, "Is there any sign of government activity in the area?"

Kate frowned. "Why do you ask."

Flynn shrugged, "No particular reason, just a thought."

Yeah, maybe they were cruising along, and found themselves someplace they shouldn't be.

Kate looked through her files again, "No, we don't have any record of government envolvement."

"OK like I said, just a thought."

>>"Good." As everyone got up and started gathering their things and heading for the door, Kate stopped them, grinning. "By the way, the fishing around there is great. If anyone is so inclined, I'd be willing to look the other way if you want to bring some gear along."

"What?" a man said, as he rushed inside. He looked old, several wrinkles had appeared around his eyes recently. Luckily, his job didn't require good looks.

"We might have a problem," another said, if any of Team Deltal had been here, they might've recognized him from Hoover's Hollow.

"Why?" he wasn't much of a talker, his hand reached inside his pocket and took out a pack of sigarets, elegantly he popped one in his mouth, lighting it a moment later with his other hand.

"One of the X-Files teams has taken it upon themselves to investigate World's End State Park."

"I thought you took care of that." in his voice he could hear the fear. "Which team?"

"Delta. I was hoping to get some info last week. I approached one of them. Quite friendly I might add," his eyes never warmed up. "But the guy freaked, and clammed up."

"Damn. Better call Weiser, tell him to sweep the Park."

"That might also be a problem.."

"Now WHAT!???"

"Weiser's busy. These X-Files teams are stirring up too much. We can't hide everything. It's time we did something about it."

"Maybe you're right...." he said, his hand reaching for his holster. "I was hoping they would be scared off somehow, when you warned that Craig Hermes-guy Jack."

Jack laughed, his freezing eyes piercing through the smoking man's. "You should've let me make a real statement."

"What, and risk having a bloodbath? No, this way was better."

Washington Airport

"Now boarding, flight 798 towards Scranton...."

Flynn closed the file, and stood up, following his teammates towards the plane. Now that he couldn't concentrate on the case, he started wondering about the team. The only constants were Kate and Sharlyn, and it seemed as if he was in a new Team again. Not a new name, this time, but new partners. "You ever seen the mountains?" Kate asked.

Flynn shook his head. He hadn't traveled a lot, and was actually looking forward to seeing more of the world.

"It's magnificent. It really makes an impression, especially the river. The air's clean, and you can really tell, that mankind hasn't interferred too much with it."

"Sounds wonderful," Sharlyn commented.

The stewardess checked their tickets, and wished them a good flight, then Team Delta entered the plane, and waited for take-off."
